Friendly service in a nice big room. Awful food. Texas twinkies(bacon wrapped stuffed jalapenos) were poorly under cooked - rubbery bacon and hard nearly raw jalapenos drenched in sweet sauce. Brisket perhaps the driest I've had. To be that dry at 11:45 in the am makes me wonder if it was leftover? who knows? Ribs overcooked to mush Deviled eggs bland, under seasoned. It was so bad, I asked the waitress if it was a chain. Massive waste of money. read more

This is probably the worst place for pulled pork barbecue in Hickory. They need to trim the fat from the pork. Side dishes are mediocre and most of the staff acts like the customers are an inconvenience to them. My wife hosted a work event in the taproom and they ran out of the food selected for the event very early in the evening. read more

Been here a few times. As a born and raised North Carolinian, I've had a lot of great bbq. The pulled pork is often pretty good here but you could also make it at home. The brisket is always dry and tough. Corn pudding used to be good but recently has become bland. You can make good bbq and sides at home for the price point. read more

We were there for the first time last night, and we loved it! Our waitress was so sweet and personable (light blonde with glasses - kudos to her!), and we really enjoyed the food. No effort even made there - Sweet potato casserole was literally mashed sweet potatoes with a dusting of cinnamon on top. Wow! This is a gem in Hickory. I come to town often for work and stumbled across this through the app. First impressions are HUGE, this is a big open restaurant with a nice bar in the front and open kitchen. But the smell of smoke meat hits you as soon as you walk in and it is great ! My server was Sierra and I must say I got the best service I have had in years! They explained the menu, everything is made from scratch and locally sourced! I ordered the pulled pork and the turkey breast with cheesy apples and red slaw. They also have great pickled veggies on the side. Wasn't crazy about the slow and Sierra offered a different side so I tried the greens which were spot on! It was just the right amount of attention and care. Can we just talk about the apples! Hands down one of the best comfort foods I have ever tried. Sweet and savory all at once. The pulled pork was great as was the turkey and I love a good selection of sauces and they were all excellent as well. If you're looking for good BBQ look elsewhere. BBQ was under-seasoned overall really could've used a good sauce but all that were offered were just okay. The pickle and pickled onions were an assault on my senses, clearly someone is a major fan of vinegar here. Mac and cheese was okay, not properly cooked as you could feel where the flour hadn't cooked out of the roux. Hash-brown casserole was good but not great and the potato salad was like dipping undercooked potatoes into a spicy mayo. The only real plus was the service, the server was nice and quick. Overall definitely not worth the trip and not at all a representation of real NC BBQ. read more

Cranford Brothers catered our wedding, and it was a great experience! The food is amazing, and I 10/10 recommend them for eating out on a Friday night and for a big event like a wedding. We were able to do a tasting with the chef, which was really cool. Cranford took care of all setup and clean up on the day of our wedding, and our guests loved the food. We also did bartending through them too. We had pulled chicken, smoked turkey, Mac and cheese, sweet potato casserole, broccoli salad, a house salad, and biscuits. We also did a charcuterie board for our cocktail hour. It was a reasonable cost that fit within our budget. Clint was great to work with too! read more

Met some friends for dinner, and I was SO hungry for some BBQ. We ordered some food and I anxiously await my food... and was mostly disappointed. All the sauces were very lackluster. The sweet and spicy was a thin tomato sauce that was spiced up, but nothing more. The sides were bland. The drink I ordered was really subpar and on my ticket was a completely different drink??? Got the city spud with brisket and a turkey Cobb salad to share between 3 of us. Salad was delicious and abundant. The blue cheese dressing had nice chunks of blue cheese in it. The brisket was tender and flavourful. My only disappointment with the potato was supposed to have marinated mushrooms instead had broccoli in it. Used to be a weekly spot, sometimes twice a week, but things have declined since Sierra isn't there anymore. Then the food started not being that good. It's usually cold when you get it whether it's dining in or takeout. You can order a sandwich and they will give you all the sauce you ask for but if you order a pound of pulled pork you're not getting any. That's ok...I'll just buy sauce. 8 ounces of sauce you purchased is only 5 1/2 when you get home. Most servers are nice but a couple get snappy with you. We visited Crawford Bros BBQ recently. What a disappointment it was. The BBQ was just ok, not much smoke flavor. The sauces were overly sweet and watery. No Texas style bbq sauce. no one in our party liked the side dishes. Potato salad was under cooked, collards were bitter and not tender. My husband and I dined here today and got the Charlottes feast (special menu for participating restaurants) I had the deviled eggs and my husband had the pimento cheese with fried crackers. The eggs were terrible, absolutely no flavor and tasted like you were eating a hard boiled egg. The pimento cheese was ok but the crackers were nasty. It tasted like you were eating straight grease. I had the turkey with potato salad and charro beans. Turkey was tender, but the seasoning was not good. The potato salad tasted like a cold loaded baked potato and the charro beans tasted like I was eating sugar straight out of the jar. My husband got the brisket, fries and potato salad. His brisket was fatty and the fries were way overdone. The final dish of course was desert. I got the "apple" cobbler and my husband got the Whoopi pie. The Whoopi pie was a chocolate chip cookie with buttercream icing, super sweet. The apples were so disappointing. It had to come from a can as it tasted like the apple pie filling you can get at Walmart. It was gummy and tasted like metal. It was also not a cobbler it was apples with pecan on it. Honestly Cracker Barrel has better apples. The sauces were also extremely watery and very sweet. After today's visit we will not be going back. There are plenty of other bbq places that actually know what bbq is and how it's supposed to taste. read more

Best BBQ I've found on this side of the state. Meat was delicious and tender. Fries perfectly cooked. The best loaded potato salad I've ever had. But the sauces.... 10/10 each flavor was better than the last. They offer western, eastern, mustard and sweet/spicy ALL of them were perfect and made in house. Our waitress, Phyllis was perfect. Stopped by for an early dinner with my wife since we saw they were open. Have been watching ever since City Walk brewery opened waiting for the BBQ to open next door. We ordered the pulled pork and brisket. The meats were moist but could have used a bit more smoky flavor. Although the brisket was good it was a bit fatty. Currently they offer 4 sauces and none were what I would consider a sweet Kansas City style sauce. The tomato based sauce which should be close was thin, vinegar tasting and spicy. The sides we ordered - corn casserole and dirty rice were nothing special. Being that they have been open less than a week we will try again and maybe just order meat to take home to enjoy. We were told that they are working on another sauce so maybe it will be closer to our liking. They do serve City Walk brewery beer which was very good. read more

Was looking forward to try this place cause friends have gone and said the brewery was good. This is the BBQ place upstairs from the Brewery. We were welcomed as we walked in. Our server Alexis was fantastic!! The food was terrible. There was lipstick on my beer glass from a previous patron, gross. Alexis took care of it and apologized. They were out of a lot of things, again Alexis apologized. I got the last order of ribs. They were so over cooked, burnt to death. Couldn't eat them. The fries were good and the beer was good. Table next to us wasn't happy either. Everything they asked for they were out of. The Manager continually walking around on his phone. Alexis felt so bad, for us that she gave us a complimentary dessert. We will not go back to eat there. I wish the servers well cause they are working in a tough place. When you rely on tips and management doesn't care to even serve good food. The servers pay that price. read more
