He wasn't walking and after going the natural route his whole life, I felt he needed an MRI ( I even brought up being concerned it was cerebral palsy to which she replied absolutely not). She refused to recommend an MRI and told me I needed to get him into therapy. When I called the number she gave me, they said "so he's autistic?" She NEVER told me that was her concern and I had already known he wasn't from another evaluation. After talking to them, they agreed this was a horrible reference and when I called her to confront her on the issue she said "well fine, you can call this other place but in the end you'll work with those people because it is autism". Everything was about money. She wanted us to come back after making a few changes to his diet (we already eat incredibly healthy) because her biggest concern was that he ate too many bananas and dates (this child has never had candy or any refined sugar) and then MAYBE she would refer us to a neurologist (you know, after she got some more money from another appointment and blood tests). Luckily I knew better and I searched until I found a neurologist who would take us without a referral. She saw my son and agreed he needed and MRI immediately. Want to guess what they found? Brain damage. I was right. He has CP. He was also thoroughly evaluated for autism and the specialist laughed the moment she saw him and absolutely could not believe ANYONE who would call themselves a professional would even bring autism up. Dr. Miki ignored my concerns. She said "I cant refer you to a neurologist because I dont see anything wrong except he isn't talking". Since starting acupuncture in January 2026 I have not had a migraine since. I've had some mild headaches here and there (days I forgot to drink enough water, or ate garbage), but not my dreaded 3-4 day stuck in bed with all the lights off migraine terror. It's really been amazing. I'm now working with Dr. Zhao on all the other issues I've ignored for so long. The weird tennis elbow/carpal tunnel pain, insomnia, the random chronic things that I just learned to live in pain with. For new patients, you will go into a consultation and then almost seamlessly transition right in to treatment. So a consultation lasts like maybe 10-15 minutes and then the acupuncture (depending on what you have going on) may take 45 minutes. If you just want the consultation, no treatment, you will need to be very clear about this. Dr. Zhao is ready to work, so if you do NOT want treatment you'll need to speak up. My insurance unfortunately does not cover acupuncture ( I have an HSA) so I pay about $185 for cupping and acupuncture per session. I know with other insurance it would be about $15 co-pay.
