Dr. Zhao is amazing, and if you've ever had ANY persistent issues Id recommend visiting her tbf. I started seeing her for extremely painful and irregular periods relating to endo. Traditional docs had told me there was nothing to do anymore. From the first visit, she listened to everything I had to say and examined me, then we immediately began treatment. She estimated 2-3 months minimum of treatment before Id be better, and she's consistently checked in on progress and made modifications as needed. Dr. Zhao is amazing. I went in with low expectations - having battled with migraines for 25 years. But I thought what else could I lose, having tried every supplement and prescription I had access to. Since starting acupuncture in January 2026 I have not had a migraine since. I've had some mild headaches here and there (days I forgot to drink enough water, or ate garbage), but not my dreaded 3-4 day stuck in bed with all the lights off migraine terror. It's really been amazing. I'm now working with Dr. Zhao on all the other issues I've ignored for so long. The weird tennis elbow/carpal tunnel pain, insomnia, the random chronic things that I just learned to live in pain with. For new patients, you will go into a consultation and then almost seamlessly transition right in to treatment. So a consultation lasts like maybe 10-15 minutes and then the acupuncture (depending on what you have going on) may take 45 minutes. If you just want the consultation, no treatment, you will need to be very clear about this. Dr. Zhao is ready to work, so if you do NOT want treatment you'll need to speak up. My insurance unfortunately does not cover acupuncture ( I have an HSA) so I pay about $185 for cupping and acupuncture per session. I know with other insurance it would be about $15 co-pay. If you're a woman who's TTC, I can't recommend Dr. Zhao enough! After two consecutive losses and subsequent cycle disruptions, I was left with a lot of questions and searching for real help. An OB/GYN ran my bloodwork--all clear except for hormone imbalances. He gave me progesterone and clomid prescriptions and sent me on my way. That just didn't feel right. I sought out TCM at Dragon Acupuncture for a real solution. Dr. Zhao was very understanding and kind, and immediately went to work with me. Periodically I get a bad back spasm that knocks me out for a week. It happened again 2 weeks ago. I tried muscle relaxers, Advil, massage guns, massage balls, heat pad and even had my kids walk on my back. Nothing helped. After a week of this pain, I figured I'd try acupuncture. Found Dr. Zhao on yelp and got an appointment for the following day. Dr. Zhao was awesome. I told her my right lower back was hurting. She then started pushing down on my stomach. I thought "this is weird" since it was my back that was hurting, but then remembered that I had been getting a side stitch during my runs, which never happens. Dr. Zhao immediately knew what was wrong. She hooked me up to some needles and some electricity and zapped away for about 30 minutes. When I left, I felt maybe 15% better, but I was able to get in/out of the car way easier than before. The following day I felt 50% better and I progressively got better after that and was back to about 95% in two days. Dr. Zhao initially told me she hoped she could fix me after 6 visits. I started with her the beginning of the cycle I had my successful IUI through the end of my first trimester. The office had a lot of Eastern medicine (I didn't get any, but I appreciated that it was no pressure and I would just sorta ask them about the different things they sold). I don't like needles, but with my back I'm willing to give anything a try right now. (Herniated discs) I did the regular acupuncture the first time, then the second time they tried the electrodes (it's like a tens unit). I would alternate with the electrodes, sometimes it was uncomfortable. the needles weren't painful, it's a light poke, then you doze off and then you go home. Dr. Zhao successfully treated me for my diagnosis of Bell's palsy back in March 2024 and I couldn't be more grateful for her! I was initially diagnosed at urgent care in which a stroke has already been ruled out since the facial weakness caused by this condition can be similar to that seen in a stroke patient. I was mainly experiencing right side facial weakness such as when I smiled along with right side eye droopiness/dryness, which also affected my ability to see with contact lenses on. The provider stated that it is most likely due to having a lack of sleep and a lot of stress. I was prescribed 5 days of Valtrex (antiviral agent), a week course of prednisone with a tapering regimen and some costly eye drops to help with the dryness. I was not able start acupuncture treatment until a week after being diagnosed. It took a total of 5 treatment sessions - along with rest/sleep of course - for a full recovery, but it is to my knowledge that each individual may respond differently and may take a shorter/longer duration. Dr. Zhao also suggested to use electrical impulses with the facial needles which helped amplify the treatment, with a small additional cost (I believe +$15 more). All I know is she had shortened my recovery time from what may be up to 6 months to literally only 1.5 weeks. It's been about a month and my Bell's palsy has not returned! I wish it was possible to give more than five stars!!! I went to Dr. Zhao 3 months ago. My main issue was extreme and constant headaches and nausea that would not go away AT ALL. I was also constantly and always VERY TIRED and EXHAUSTED. After a good night sleep, I still could not manage to get out of the bed easily and that is very different from my normal self. On the first day I told her I also have PCOS and endometriosis and a fibroid in my uterus. During last year, at the age of 29, I had AMH (hormone for estimate of egg count that should be above one for my age) ranging from 0.35 to 0.7 and never coming above one. On the first day she told me I'll need to come twice a week and it will take a couple of months before I see results because of the number of issues I was dealing with. I knew that financial aspect wouldn't be super easy, but at the end it is my health, and based on western medicine, everything was actually more than fine with me!!! Bloodwork would show GREAT numbers for my full check up! She first focused on my headaches and mainly nausea. I could truly see that she was worried about me and truly cared about me. That's a HUGE factor. Headaches started to get better faster. But the nausea was slower to respond. Within around a month though both were gone! And my energy levels went back up! AMAZING!! My journey: I was diagnosed with stage 3 out of 4 endometriosis 10 years ago. However, the medical term for my infertility was Unexplained Fertility (very frustrating). 3 failed IUIs, 2 failed IVFs, 6 months of acupuncture with diet changes (at another practice), nothing worked for 4-5 years. I took a break from it all. Fast forward to Sept 2021, I was ready to go through IVF again. There were different herbs depending on time of the month. I wasn't always consistent with the herbs. There are days where I only took one of the recommended daily doses. It's taken me this long to write this review, but I absolutely had to share how incredible Dr. Zhao and Dragon Acupuncture were for our journey to welcome our precious daughter into the world. My husband and I initially visited Dr. Zhao to prepare for our IVF journey, which had been a long and emotional prospect. From 2021, she supported us through 2 egg retrieval procedures and 2 embryo transfers, and until the start of 2nd trimester. Dr. Zhao went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and supported throughout the entire process. With the herbal tea and treatment, we were able to have satisfying embryos to transfer. Most every ailment that I've experienced for the last 5 years has/is treated by Dr. Zhao, (stomach pain, neck pain, back pain, pink eye, stress management, fertility, pregnancy, etc). She has used her extensive knowledge and experience with Eastern & Western medicine to find a way to make me feel better. Sometimes instant relief is a result of her treatment and other times it is gradual relief with the help of Chinese Herbs. Whatever the course of treatment is, I know I am in good hands and trust her completely. Dr. Zhao's bedside manner is top notch. She is kind, humble and patient. She is soft spoken and has such a genuine presence about her that makes you feel at ease. She has such a gentle touch with her tiny needles. I was on antibiotics month after month for diverticulitis. I was on antibiotics for so long to the point where the gastroenterologist said part of my colon may have to be removed since it was not good to be on antibiotics for such a long period of time. At which point, I knew I needed to try something else to avoid surgery. Dr. Zhao treated me several times a week and kept the pain at bay and antibiotics became a thing of the past and I haven't been back to see the gastroenterologist since. To this day, if I ever start to feel discomfort, I see Dr. Zhao to work her magic. She has treated me in preparation for 6 IVF egg retrievals and 4 frozen embryo transfers. I now have a 3.5 year old son, a 13 month old daughter and another on the way. She has been one of my biggest cheerleaders through out the toughest times of my fertility journey. She has treated my mom and friends, all of which have had great experiences with her. I've been to other acupuncturists and to be honest, none compare to her. If you live far, she is worth the drive. If her schedule is booked, she is worth the wait. She tries to accommodate her schedule to fit you in as best as she can. She's busy but in-office wait times are never crazy long. Her front-line gal, Ofelia is so sweet and helpful. To many, needles are scary. What's scarier is to be on medication that is only a band-aid that may cause other ailments and still may require surgery. Be open to the possibilities of feeling better with acupuncture and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and trust in her expertise and gentle touch. Give her a try and you won't be disappointed.
