I found this one through a coupon site with a good deal, and it had previously won Consumer's Choice awards in earlier years, so it can't be that bad, right? So, I decided to try them out! There seems to be a few shady practices in Edmonton that try to take your money and give you burns in return -- but Edmonton Laser Centre is professional through and through. The outside doesn't really shout "high end salon" -- no giant glass windows or modern furniture here. In fact, it's on the second floor of what looks like an almost run-down strip mall on 97st. But, inside, it's very clean, no-nonsense. Sort of reminds me of a Medicentre look. The technician who worked on me is an older woman who says she's been doing this for about seven years. She's very professional and sympathetic when you yelp a bit in pain (I went there for laser hair removal), but it's all very straightforward, no frills, no real conversation. If you want to feel super pampered or anything, this isn't the place for you. But, if you want to get rid of some unwanted hair, I'd give this place a try! I was quite pleased as many of the laser places offering groupons had reviews of not being able to get in, or impossible to get a hold of them. Stripped from the bottom down, I had no idea what I was in for. A simple yet clean place, the woman was quite professional. She didn't explain much, only what was needed, handed me some cold air thing that looked somewhat pervasive and told me to spread em. She turned her machine on and I braced myself. Oh the pain. I had no idea the pain would be like this. With a minor smell of burning hair, I just kept reminding myself. Just one year and I'll never have to shave again. Just one year. No more razor burn. Within seconds it was over, and I don't think she got all the area I wanted, but I wasn't about to ask for more. All in all, I've already seen a difference and booked my next appointment (apparently i'm a sucker for punishment). The cold air thing really helped minimize the pain when I remembered I had use of my arms though. I had my facial consult which was neat because they took photos to see problem areas on my skin. I found the consult to not be so helpful. I was recommended things that other spas would refuse to do to my skin because it was too harsh. I'm super careful and knowledgeable about different treatments so this kind of sent off a red flag for me. They really only recommended treatments which they had the machines for which was pretty limited from what I am accustomed to from going to medical spas. I also was actually taken back by the prices as they were alot more than other places I've been to. Hence probably why I never tried them before. Anyways...I ended up being model for a hydra facial Deluxe for $235 and got 50% off my treatment. The tech was actually new and I felt like she didn't give me a proper treatment because I could feel that she had missed some areas and didn't focus on my problematic areas (nose and chin). Luckily I was using a gift card and got a discount for the treatment. But if I had paid full price I would definitely have been disappointed. Overall. They have good options available for treatments and plenty of products which I am yet to try. And maybe I'll come back for one of their specials. But my skin didn't feel or look as glorious as it typically did compared to getting a $235 treatment elsewhere. So I'm not sure I can justify the full price from this experience. Originally I saw Dr. Briggs here (who was always fabulous) but he's moved to Ottawa with the military (thank you for your service). I've seen a nurse and another doc that recently came into the practice in the past year and have continued to receive excellent care and treatment. The environment is always impeccably clean and the staff welcoming. They now are offering regular family health care here as well as female specialized. So if you're looking for a new GP, you may want to consider checking them out. The Botox for migraines program has been life changing. It took three visits over 9 months for my migraines to stop and I'm so very glad I didn't stop after the second visit. Since starting this program, I have gone from missing 1-3 days of work, life, and fun a month to having only 1 or 2 minor migraines a year! Seriously - like I used to get so bad I would have to see a neurologist and go into the ER for IV treatment to stop the throw up cycle :-( I still keep prescription migraine melts on hand for emergencies but I could probably survive now with just Advil and ibuprophen. As promised, I'm writing an update to my last review of Tropicalaser…read more I went to my scheduled follow up appointment last week after having micro-pigmentation on my eyebrows. I required a few more "feathers" drawn onto my new eyebrow line to fill them out properly. Micro-pigmentation takes about 90 minutes including the freezing gel application. It takes about a week to heal with frequent applications of Polysporin or other antibiotic gel. The dark, scary look fades after 2 days as the process heals. Itching is normal. Don't scratch! I'm looking like a starlet today! Is it worth $350.00? When all is said and done, YES. It was a big hit to the pocketbook, but I scrimp and save in all other areas of my beauty routine, so I think it evens out. I feel like I have a younger, sexier face. I'm very happy with Tropicalaser.

Cut and colour (Pink) appointment for a was for 2:15pm this Saturday. Very important: I'm a natural blonde. I wanted to support a vegan salon and was very excited for the appointment. Took an hour drive to get there. Boyfriend had to wait in the car due to COVID-19 restrictions (He said he didn't mind waiting the 2-3 hours for the appointment, he's good to me like that). Everything seemed okay on arrival. She cut ends off and started applying the bleach. She had to keep re-applying water to the bleach because it kept flaking. When I was placed under the heat, there was so much water in my hair that my hair began to steam: there's now a steam burn on the back of my head. Not comfortable. (Couldn't sleep last night and even warm showers are incredibly painful) I kept asking, "Is everything going to work?" She kept reassuring me that it would. Because the back of my head was burned, we weren't able to use heat for the bleach any longer and had to keep reapplying. This was about three hours in. She didn't really seem to know what colour to use in my hair or what pink would work. Maybe this was just a matter of experimentation, but it wasn't what I expected when I was referred to their hairstylist who was "most experienced with pink." It didn't feel like a very professional experience: I showed the colour I wanted, but she kept asking me if it matched... isn't that your job? Anyways. Two bleaches later and a few failed attempts at applying colour, and all I'm left with now is what you see in the pictures. Please note the extremely damaged ends that I'll now have to have repaired and trimmed down even further. I did not leave until 7:45pm. Please be aware that they understood that I was driving in for this appointment and that - again - they knew my boyfriend was waiting in the car (Though they did offer to invite him inside when social distancing was reasonable, which was kind). I'm extremely disappointed and will not be returning, nor do I recommend you or anyone else go. I'd also like to point out their "no-refund" policy. After all of this damage? Seriously? How much do you think it cost them in bleach/colour? I'm paying for the hair-stylists time, which they spent damaging my hair instead of cutting and styling it. I should not have been charged at all. If a restaurant gave you food poisoning and said "It's okay, you can come eat here again next week," - WOULD YOU? No! I will be getting my hair fixed elsewhere and will not be taking up their offer to "fix" my hair. Truthfully, I did not want to have to post this review. It breaks my heart to have to call out an organization that supports my vegan values like this, but my treatment has been unjust. Any professional salon would have refunded this. Do not attend: 0/5. No refund. it drew a crowd at the other salon. Got asked if it was a junior stylist that got in over her head and couldn't figure out what to do. Nope. Senior stylist that completely ignored the photos I showed her. I'll post the example photo, then what I got. and I had hair down to the middle of my back. As you can see it was even an inch shorter on one side.
