Smoke Rise Chimney Service - Business card

    Smoke Rise Chimney Service

So I called these guys and they were booked out like months in advance for the work I wanted done…read morebecause they're so busy. Which I take as a good sign, and all I wanted was a sweep done and nothing major so the wait was no problem. I was told I would get a call within a certain timeframe, I did, and the service guy even texted me to let me know what was going on as he was running just a hair late. Unlike other companies who just leave you hanging around wondering what's going on and not answering when you call to see what's up, so I appreciated that. The thing that sold me though was that when the guy, Ryan, got here and took a look into our chimney, he asked how often we used it and how long we'd lived in the house and et cetera. So after hearing my answers, he nodded and said the chimney was super clean and that he would get me a card so I could call him in another two years to take another look at it because there was no need to do anything this time. He could have just went on about his way and "cleaned" and took his time and I would have been none the wiser to it. That honesty is hard to come by these days. Will definitely be hanging onto his card to have him come back out. The *only* complaint I have is that they don't accept card payments, so you'll need to find a check or go to the bank to get the cash you were quoted. Even then that's only because they're a small business and the fees for the card stuff is crazy. So. Yea. :)

Our former chimney sweep retired and I wanted to make sure that we are ready for winter…read more Smoke Rise responded quickly to my request and was very reasonably priced. Ryan arrive on time and brought a dropcloth inside. He was upfront and honest about our chimney not needing cleaned. He went on the roof and advised us on some routine maintenance, but no needed repairs. I was really impressed by his honesty and will definitely reach out to him again.

This locally owned company encapsulated our basement last week and did a fantastic job. Caleb and…read morehis crew, Zach and Ben, are hard workers, very professional, knowledgeable, and capable of sealing off even the tight crawl spaces we had. It was a difficult basement, and they approached the challenge with the experience and expertise you would expect with this type of work. They left our basement clean and finished. A company is only as good as its employees, and everyone working at Ameri-dry was friendly, efficient, and professional when communicating with us. They quickly addressed our questions and always had a solution. Laura and Kayla greeted us on the phone, and both ladies were pleasant and efficient. They are real assets to the company. Stephen was sent out to do the estimate, did the calculations, explained our options, and after a few minutes in his truck, came back to us with the price. They want satisfied customers and encourage you to call back with any doubts or questions. We are so happy we found them. Thank you, Ameri-dry!

Signed a contract with very detailed material specifications. Researched all of them…read more(encapsulation material, dehumidifier, pump) so that I would be comfortable with the large amount I paid. They called me 2 weeks prior to the scheduled appointment to ask if installation could occur earlier. At this point, I assumed they had the agreed upon materials. I had to decline as I was researching some concerns. When they arrived for the scheduled appointment, they did NOT have the encapsulation material or the pump. One of the guys nervously said I was getting "an upgrade" for the material but as I had no time to research I wasn't sure what I got. I was also told that they would show me how to change the filter before they put the dehumidifier in the dark crawlspace. For some reason they neglected to do that. They said the pump would come at a later date. They performed as much of the installation as they could, installing the exterior water line before knowing the height of the pump, so ultimately it was installed on an uphill trajectory. Of course 2 weeks later it failed and water spilled into the crawlspace, which they fixed. They tried to show me how to clean the filter in the dark but of course that wasn't retained. They make a big deal of taking on the dehumidifier 5 year warranty, but the fact is if something goes wrong, as it did recently with mine where the dehumidifier stopped running and humidity levels increased dramatically, I learned they charge $250 just to make a service call. You can also sign up for a maintenance plan for 1 year for $250 where service calls are $45. That's more than heating and air companies charge to service your furnace and air conditioning! So 66 year old fixed income me crawled on my hands and knees to the dehumidifier, spent ten minutes in the dark fumbling with a screwdriver to finally reach the filter, then crawled back out of the crawlspace to clean it, then back on my hands and knees across the crawlspace to re-insert the clean filter that wasn't all that dirty, to once again fumble with the screwdriver to get the filter cover back on, only to get an "E4" error, which is associated with a multitude of different ailments. Absolutely ridiculous exercise when I forked over $5,400 just 15 months ago. I would not recommend them but whoever you go with check the fine print around servicing any equipment that you get. The service fees are exorbitant for just a fairly small dehumidifier and pump. There should be no charge if replacement is needed on a $2,000 dehumidifie!

Do not pay these guys until you're completely satisfied with the work agreed upon. Or better yet,…read moredon't hire them at all. They came and went at random times without notice and without introducing themselves. They would be gone for days and I had to call to find out when they would be back to finish the job with no response. When they actually did show up to finish it was late in the afternoon and they didn't have the necessary materials so they had to leave and didn't return until after dark. I made the unfortunate choice to pay them without inspecting the work in daylight after they supposedly finished. They incorrectly installed a gutter and downspout and the seams on the new white gutter were smeared with brown silicone. The gutter itself wasn't long enough to catch the rain coming off of the roof, thereby defeating the purpose of installing a gutter system in the first place. Whereas they promised to come and correct the issues, they merely removed the silicone by scraping most of it off but again didn't have the necessary materials to extend the gutter to function correctly and finish the job. Water is still emptying into our yard at the base of the structure where it's not supposed to. Another drain they installed is emptying water that is now pooling into the middle of the yard. And even after Aaron confirmed several appointments to return and fix the problem, he was a no-show and didn't even bother to call or text. Not just once, but four times. This guy not only didn't show up FOUR TIMES after promising he would but HE DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO CALL OR TEXT that he wasn't coming. Aaron must think it's okay to waste your time when you're expecting him to show up at your house and he doesn't. That's what happens when you pay contractors before thoroughly inspecting their work. Lesson learned, $2500 later. DO NOT hire this company. They are unethical, unprofessional, and disrespectful. I trusted they would honor their promises and they didn't.
