I go there often for bait but the last two times some of the shrimp were dead, others half dead and about only 8 out of 24 were spunky.

On Sunday June 22 my family and I stopped by crazy lure to pick up live shrimp, this turned out to be a very bad experience. First I noticed the shrimp were very small, i was disappointed because I went to Whitney's bait and tackle the previous weekend on sanibel island and the shrimp were much larger, i asked the clerk about the small shrimp and he said there's summer time shrimp and all the shrimp around there are like that, and I understand how the shrimp are smaller in the summer time as i've been in florida all my life. Before we left we purchased a bag of ice, as my wife and I were walking out the door the clerk (who i later found out to be andy) yelled to us " make sure to take what you paid for and not what you need" i kind of made an awkward laugh As I walked out the door figuring, he must have meant that a different way than I took it, i really wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, because that was kind of offensive to me at that moment, and I wasnt sure how to take that. But I didn't say anything.I went outside and grabbed a bag of ice and realized the bags of ice were not as big as we thought, so my wife went back in to pay for two more bags while I dumped the first bag in the cooler, after I finished with the cooler, I went in side with my wife, and I asked the clerk in a kind manner what he meant by what he said to us earlier, the reason I asked him this was because, rather than not come back to the store I figured maybe he didn't I mean it in any offensive way and wanted to give him a chance to clarify, and to let him know it offended me, however, I never got that chance, because as soon as I asked him what he meant he got frustrated and said, I say that to everybody, then he told me he was the manager and to leave his store, that really p***** me off, and as calm as I tried to be, that triggered me. I then preceded to tell him to come outside and that's when he grabbed a knife front from right next to the cash register. My wife and I walked out of the store grabbed the two bags of ice from the chest outside (that we paid for) and started walking to our car, which had our children in it. Andy decided to bring his knife and his phone and meet us at the front door which is where we were parked , to record us and provoke us in front of our children. Andy did not handle this situation right! And to be honest, I could have handled it better as well looking back at it. I ask management, if you have the footage like you say you do, why don't you make it public for everyone to see? Since you're accusing me without giving full context of what actually happened. I lived in this area about seven years ago and I spent a lot of money at your bait shop at that time as I visited multiple times a week. There was a really good guy named john, who owned this place back then and him and I became friends, i would bring my son into the bait shop and he would show my son all the different bait And fish, i want you guys to know that. We came out of our way to stop at your store that day. Because we wanted to support your store because of the history I had with john, it is very upsetting to be treated the way we were treated by your establishment when we were going out of our way trying to support you. And just a little advice andy, I know you told me I can't take a joke, but it's not a good idea to insult people and accuse them of taking something that they didn't pay for and then getting upset with them, because they didn't take it as a joke. It didn't have to go this far. You're young now, but take this as a life. Lessen that if you ever offend, someone always be willing to apologize if it upsets them. It's not good to mistreat someone who spends money at your store and then not make it right after and allow it to go this far. read more

A worker named Andy was being rude and disrespectful to us, he wasn't helping us pick out items when we asked for them, and all in all was being very disrespectful and racist to my family and I, never coming in here until he is fired read more

My children and I had a great experience at Crazy Lure. They went out of their way to get us the right bait and aerator. They even gave my youngest a tour of the bait storage area. Our second trip was just as nice, with them enjoying photos of the fish we caught. Definitely recommend, and definitely will be back when in the area read more

Worst bait store ever. A bunch of kids working it, they lost the reel I had brought in for work. Very disrespectful in handling the manor.

Arrived at 8:10 PM, store was supposed to close at 9 PM. The employee looked at us walking up to the store, locked the door and turned around. We tried to call, no answer, call went to the voicemail which is full and stated that none of the calls will be returned. The wife and I came down from Lakeland to spend a week fishing. Needless to say the fishing sucks. The one thing the wife and I noticed was ever one we asked a question to was lost on answering us. All week we have been going to bait shops. The first one that showed up on the cell was right by the house we were staying in. The dang place was closed out of business so we drove 10 miles to another place nothing but frozen bait. I called all the Marina's and bait shops and finally someone told is about this place. Called them they said they had live bait and off we went. These guys were great. After seeing all this crazy stuff going on in the news you think the younger generation is all nuts and then you run into three young men with great manners and respect and it makes you smile. Thank you Eduardo, Ethan and Joey. The wife and I appreciate all that you did showing us spots on the map and talking about hunting was way better than catching all those catfish with that damn frozen bait. I hope your boss knows how well you do your jobs and you are the face every first sees when they walk in and how you try and help with information. Again thank you guys. I hate to leave bad reviews, but these guys really earned it this time. I've come here for several years (at Christmas time when I come visit my dad in Cape Coral). I've always had a good experience, but this year was different. Two issues: 1) For two years I've been interested in booking a fishing charter. I called two weeks ago to book and was put down for a Friday with Captain John. I was so thrilled for it, as was my dad and brother in law (also visiting). The day before, Captain John called to confirm and let us know we should be at the boat ramp at 8 AM...sounds good. Fog started rolling in that evening and the forecast called for more of it in the morning. Come 7:30 AM, I reach out to Captain John and he tells me we'll need to hold off because it was too foggy...sounds good, let's be safe (wish you had looked at the forecast the night before, doesn't take a meteorologist). Close to two hours go by and I start texting him because the fog is entirely gone by now. I don't hear back for about 30 minutes so I call him, no response. Finally, close to 11 AM he tells me he is ready to go, but that we would need to be back by 2 PM since he had another charter booked at that time...I'm not paying $400 to go fishing for less than 3 hours. He doesn't even offer to accommodate us, so we decide to find someone else. We ended up finding another captain who was very accommodating; he even mentioned that everyone was out on the water that morning despite the fog. 2) The bait shop itself has been looking more rundown lately. Despite the poor fishing charter experience I still went to get some live shrimp the next day since the bait shop is near my dad's place. I walked in to find two employees, who did not even bother greeting me (or other customers for that matter). I stood by the counter for a good two minutes when a younger guy asks the guy behind me if he can help...I've been standing there for two minutes, you can help me dude! Terrible service. Several of the shrimp he gave me were already on their deathbed by the time I got home. What a disappointment. I use to talk this shop up every time I visited. I have no doubt that Captain John is a decent fisherman, but if you are looking for reliability don't book with him. For weeks I've been looking forward to it and was highly disappointed when he basically cancelled last minute. read more

I think we have found our new bait shop! This place is awesome and has early and LATE hours! We rolled in around 7-8pm. Call ahead and see if anyone answers, if they do- they are open! We met a guy named Jon and he is friendly, knowledgeable and CRAZY as the store name implies. He caught a Goliath Grouper in a kayak! This is the guy!!! HOLY COW! They also provide charters for 4 people for about $400. He showed us some pictures of the snook and groupers they caught that day. It was truly motivating and made us giggle. This is one of the better bait shops in Cape Coral. They are open early and stay open late. They are open later than most other bait stores. They have a nice selection of goods, prices on bait are reasonable, they have quality bait, it looks nice inside and are very friendly. Like most small shops the cost of packaged goods are close to MSRP but that is to be expected. When someone asks where to buy bait, this is one of the places I recommend. read more

I was new to Cape Coral (and salt water) and had no idea about how to fish here. I walked in and all the staff was so awesome, they explained everything. I buy all my bait from there now, and every time they tell me something new, or give me a new hint. They are genuinely good people, my little kid was acting up in their store and they gave him a fake rubber fish so he could play with it. When I forgot my bait bucket after driving down to get shrimp, they loaned me one. Customer service and local knowledge is as good as it gets. I'll never go to a big named store again! read more

Having recently visited Cape Coral, I saw good reviews on the Crazy Lure and they were all spot on. Being from the midwest and fishing fresh water the staff and the Crazy Lure never made me feel stupid for asking questions, even around good spots to fish. I brought my gear and Eric did a great job setting me up with line and some tackle to catch fish. John the owner took my map, since I rented a boat, and highlighted key areas to fish and how to fish them with live shimp which they had as well. I caught Trout, Lady Fish, Snapper and catfish. There were times I had two lines with fish on them at the same time. The Dolphins hung around my boat waiting for me the throw those trout back. It was an unreal experience. If you are new to the area or salt water fishing stop by the Crazy Lure, they won't stare you wrong and will help you with what you are looking to catch. Check them out!! read more
