I seriously can't recommend West Marine enough! This store is awesome. Everything is well organized, fully stocked, and they have just about anything you could need for a day on the water. We picked up some bait, a bucket, and a few other essentials, and everything worked perfectly. The bait was incredible--we ended up catching some absolute monsters! The quality of their gear is top-notch, even something as simple as their buckets is durable and reliable. What really stood out, though, was the staff. Everyone was super kind, welcoming, and genuinely happy to help. They took the time to answer our questions and made sure we had everything we needed. Great people, great service, and a great store. buyer beware!!!!! avoid west marine at all costs!!! so over priced on all their items. needed a pair of racor filters for my boat. went to the cape coral west marine. they only had 1 on the shelf, so i went on line and bought 4 and it was cheaper than 1 at west marine. the cape coral store is a joke, bare shelves and out of stock on most everything except teeshirts and crap! they need to close this store. don't waste your time going there. what a ripoff they are. another example, 3m 4200 is almost $40 there, and you can buy it online for $20. a very poorly run business taking advantage of boaters every day!!! avoid them. read more

I tried to order something online from West Marine. I have a gold account and tried to log into my account. I could not remember the password, so I tried to reset it. After multiple attempts and not getting a response emailed to me from their website, I tried to call. After multiple calls and the calls being dropped after requesting an agent I tried to online chat. I waited in line for about 10 minutes with 9 people in front of me. When it finally said I was up next, I was notified that they were busy with other customers and they said I should try chat later. What appalling customer service! I will physically go to the store and ensure my account doesn't auto renew. Obviously trying to do anything digitally is a total waste of time and effort. My advice to anyone is to find another place to purchase your marine needs. West Marine is not the place to go. read more

Went into the shop casually just to look around and I found everything I needed. The two workers there that looked like sister's were a ray of sunshine that walked me through some things and were very knowledgeable. The store certainly felt more welcoming and approachable because of them. I didn't get a chance to tell the managers to give them a raise, but they deserve it. read more

My kids bought a $20 floaty at this location. They had them inflated at the store, by the time they got home it was already deflated. Took it back to do an exchange and was told I have to send it in to the manufacturer. Store would not exchange. Pathetic customer service. Will not be back for anything else in the future. read more

I have been trying to purchase items from WEST MARINE for a few years now. The majority of the time, the do NOT have stock. Always the same excuse, that they just sold out. Now, they are telling me to go online and order myself so that I don't have to pay for shipping. Why would I pay shipping for you to transfer items that you ran out of stock? If I have to go online and do this myself, I will purchase on Amazon or other sites that have better prices. I try and give my local stores business to help our economy, but WEST MARINE does NOT make this easy. read more

If you have a boat, you know it is a toilet bowl in which you just keep flushing money. And the main reason for that is because of places like West Marine. No matter where you go, in San Jose or in Cape Coral, you will find these chizelers squeezing every nickel that they can out of you for the most mundane screw, bolt or piece of rope. My friend bought a pair of Gilligan boat shoes and paid almost twice what he would have gotten them for anywhere else. But because they are from West Marine and he is a West Marine zombie, he had to have them. Personally, I would rather sell my boat before getting into bed with these guys, they will cut your arm off in a quick second if it meant more money into their pocket and less in yours. Be warned. They are the only game in town and they know it. If I could buy stock from them I would but in anything else I would run away screaming. read more

It's not a full size west marine like the one on college pkwy but this one is on my way home and 5min from my house. The staff are friendly and willing to help. Very rarely do they not have what I need. They now do price matching so their higher prices are no longer an issue. Just tell them where you saw the lower price they will verify if and give it to you for that exact price. A prop they had for 139.99 I found online for $78. They honored that price no questions asked. They have worked with me on price on many other things that were damaged or on clearance. read more

Hours posted today was 9-7. We drove there and there was a written note on the door saying that they would be closed until 11:30 (the time was 10:30). People were in there shopping & working but doors were locked. Quite the inconvenience when you make a trip specifically to go there. read more

After years of being a dedicated customer we have found West Marine prices are no longer competitive in many areas. 3M Products may be found at your local hardware store for much less, no need to make that special trip to WM. Changes over the last few years in perks to employees have led to the more experienced employees to depart. What Terry says is correct. West Marine will gaff you every time when it comes to pricing. They're incorrigible! It should ALWAYS be your last choice if you are concerned about money. Their stocking habits are on the edge too. Many times the will stock just ONE item of a kind. West Marine as killed the wonderful 'ma and pa' marina stores. They KNOW this, and their attitude is.....charge to the hilt....the consumer no longer has any place else to go. I purchased several sets of Christmas lights from the West Marine store on Cape Coral Pkwy. some time ago. I opened them for the first time last week and none of them worked. I returned them to the store yesterday and they refused to exchange or return them because six months later I did not have the receipt. I have been dealing from the Cape Coral WM store for well over a decade and have found them willing to accomodate me with competent technical advice and reasonable pricing. West Marine, like any retail outlet, has a reputation for high prices. There are discount boat supply outlets that carry some cheaper stock. However, West Marine stands behind every purchase- there is a full return policy, no exceptions, and if you paid with a credit card you don't even have to have a receipt, they can track your purchase. If they don't have it, they can get it. You can get better pricing by joining as a member...members never pay shelf price. Shelf price is for suckers. generally, the people who complain about West marine are people who refuse to join the club. If you own a boat, join West marine and get towing insurance through them, too. It's like AAA for boats- well worth the peace of mind. They also have frequent sales- if you need something expensive, members get 15% and 25% coupons regularly. Wait and use a coupon for a better price. If you are a legitimate marine business like an installer or charter business and can prove it, they have a discount program called Port Supply with deep discounts for resale customers. I am a commercial diver, and I buy everything I need from underwater lights to zincs and hardware from WM. read more
