Finally tried the Taco Club food truck after months of intrigue from afar. It visited Riverfront…read morePlaza earlier this week, so I headed downstairs a bit early to get in line. The line itself took about 20 minutes before I could order, which was a bit long, but they apologized for the wait. I think they just had a huge group descend before I arrived. Had to be the case. Anyhow. Once I ordered the Latin Lover nachos without peppers and with pulled chicken as the meat, it was hot and ready within a few minutes. And so big that the box couldn't even shut. What a portion! I enjoyed the nachos quite a bit and they were well mixed with lots of cheese and guac. Maybe would've preferred more lettuce, but definitely just a personal preference to break up some of the carbs. I'd definitely order the nachos again but would also consider the other menu items. Each dish I saw coming out of the truck looked delicious.

Maybe I caught them on a bad day. I had heard good things about Taco Club but it was very…read moredisappointing. There are so many other places to get tacos around Richmond that you have to stand out, and these were just not worth it, even as cheap as they were. I will still give them another try and gladly update my review if this was just an one off bad experience. This taco truck was parked outside of my favorite brewery and I waited for the crowd to disperse before ordering. The menu is simple; they have seven items, from machete to traditional tacos, and a separate chalk board showing the meats available and any specials. You can pay with cash or credit card at the ordering window. I ordered two tacos, one with pork and another with steak, for $2.25 each. It took 30 minutes to get them, with some people waiting 45 minutes or more for simple items like tortas even though there were three or four people working. The menu board said tacos came with cilantro and onions, so I was surprised to see that everything was served as just meat thrown on tortillas or bread. You were expected to add all of your own toppings from open containers sitting in the sun in 80 degree weather with bugs flying around. I like being able to customize my food, but I think if you advertise an item with toppings it should be served that way. The tacos were completely underwhelming. The tortillas were so hard and dry that they cracked open when I picked them up and folded them. The pork was similarly dry as the desert and bland. I added some hot sauce to give it some moisture but unfortunately it was far, far too hot for my preference. The steak was better, more tender and had some flavor, but it wasn't anything special.

I was wondering where they were hiding all the legit authentic taco trucks in Richmond so after a…read morelittle driving around I found several here on Hull near these guys . I ordered the Queso Birria tacos and a Pastor burrito just to try a couple different things . They give you a little buzzer just like cheesecake factory so that you're not standing out there in the cold so that was nice. When the buzzer filing went off, I was excited to see what was in the box . When I popped it open and looked at those birria tacos it was beautiful. Tortillas, fried to perfection, plenty of meat and cheese and onions. They even threw in some grilled onions and a seared jalapeño along with two different salsa to try. The consome was very tasty. Had nice color and loaded. The meat was marinated to perfection and super tender. The pastor burrito was really good too. It came with the side of grilled onions and a fresh jalapeño seared. The pastor was super tender and goood . The one thing I would say we could do better is put up a menu so we know how much things cost. You're just ordering off pictures. So I didn't really care for that. They do have a couple of chalkboards with daily specials too, so you never know what you're gonna get . I'll definitely make my way down the road to some of the other taco trucks nearby but I'll say this was a great start for Hull St FYI they do take debit credit or cash, of course

Prior to being diagnosed with Celiac (can't eat wheat (gluten)), one of my guilty pleasures was…read moregetting food from Food Trucks. It's one of those culinary grab bags where you never quite know if what you're eating is fresh, pre-prepared, good, bad, the best thing you've ever eaten, or hardly palatable. And it comes out of a vehicle. It's a weird experience that I 100% support. --Food: Every so often you come across a place where everything naturally gluten free, like 1 Smokery Pl., which is awesome news for me. I've been here a couple times and really have enjoyed everything! - Ghost Bites with Pork Belly: These are awesome! They're not really as hot as the name would make it sound, but they have a bit of a kick to them. The potato croquettes are absolutely amazing. I don't know how a potato croquette can be this tasty, but they're easily the star of the dish. They're crispy, seasoned impeccably, and have the most smooth and satisfying inside. The pork belly was good too, but really the potato and accompanying sauces are the real deal. - Smoked Chicken Nachos: Also really enjoyed these. Unlike the potato bites above, everything was more or less expected in these. That's not to say they're bad at all, because they're not, they're very tasty, but if you have in your mind what Smoked Chicken Nachos would taste like, you pretty much nailed it. - BBQ Bites: My fiancée got these and also really enjoyed them. The potatoes again were the center of discussion. --Cost: Well worth it and definitely in line with your average food truck prices. Most items are about $10, some the steak or fish being a little more. --Service: Staff is super nice. It's cook to order so you wait about 10/15 min for food. (like most Food Trucks). --Overall: Anyone that likes any of the descriptions of these items should check out 1 Smokery Pl., food allergies or not, as this is truly a great truck. If there was one downside it's that there seems to be an inconsistent schedule and finding them on any given day near you might be challenging. Other than that, easy 5 star for me.

I ordered the smoked pork belly bites to start. This portion was pretty good, but I thought it lacked a Smokey punch I was looking for. I finished with the Smokey tomato gazpacho. This was the real winner, amazing really. Smokey, a little spice, cool and refreshing, sweet, etc. The menu items were fun, but id love to see some traditional options as well (pulled pork, brisket, etc.).
