This place is INSANE!! My Uncle brought us here as a treat after having a family dinner. He kept raving about it and I thought to myself that it couldn't be that good. Boy, was I wrong!!! First of all, the menu alone was ridiculous! It was huge! With so many combinations of ice cream, syrups, waffles, crepes....whaaaaattt??? My eyes were bulging out of their sockets! Dessert heaven!! We all ordered different items and we were all in awe when they arrived at our table. Everything was delisssshhhhh!! One of the better experiences we had in the UK. Will most definitely be back!!

My order: Waffled drizzled in caramel sauce, chocolate dots sprinkled on top, covered in bananas and strawberries w/ ice cream

I visited this restaurant last year. I loved it, I thought the décor was pretty hip and modern. Although I wasn't custom to the ordering style of England because I'm from America. I'm use to seating down and my order being taken by a waitress. But guided by a friend, I ordered at the counter and sat down for the desserts to be brought to us. I ordered one of the special waffles that was lightly drizzled with caramel sauce & white chocolate dots ,covered in strawberries and bananas, with a side of vanilla ice cream. I believe my friend ordered a slice of apple pie drenched in the same caramel sauce. The portions were more than I could handle. I would say the portions synchronized with the pricing very well. The desserts tasted amazing, really yummy!

So what happened was I ordered cookie dough and they didn't tell me the plate was hot at all, I think they should say, but I mean it could've been my mistake. They gave us ice cream for me to put the burn on but then he gave us oil and said to spread that on the burn. Oil isn't good for burns it keeps in the heat so that made me a bit mad. Ambience. So that atmosphere of this place was kind of horrible. The chairs were ripped. It looked really sketchy. So I wouldn't recommend. Sorry.

Picking Up The Pieces…read more On such a sad day, the morning after riots that were comparable I think to those in Brixton in the 80s, there was only one thing to for me to do, apart from joining the community in helping to clear up ; and that was to support a local business with my custom. Afters Original has come to Croydon and is No 6 of the chain they have so far rolled out in Walthamstow, Leyton, ilford, Forest Gate and Tooting. This dessert emporium is supposed to be an experience from the start. First up the ice cream, which supposed to be the heart of this sugartastic treat. I ordered one scoop of banoffe. Taste test, a mid-tone pureed banana mix creamed with a hint of vanilla, not bad, but to be honest I've had better Thrifty's ice cream in the US - amazing ! Then I tried a caramel scoop. Not good, A disappointing synthetic swirl of sugar that was vaguely nutty and even less tempting, something I could easily have lived without. The menu fortunately isn't just limited to ice cream, the enjoyment of which, on balance might just be down to the flavours I picked. Sundaes, old school milkshakes, smoothies, waffles, fruit juices and the inevitable coffee and cake section are also on offer. What was more exciting about the place was its interiors. A regular Wonka Scrummy Delight ! Bubblegum pink and black leather double seats and cheeky sharing booths (very cute if you're on a date!) with chrome rigged bottoms, were coupled with large black, glossy framed mirrors on the walls. In the corner a modern juke box, whose neon lights and hideous music made me instantly crave the real deal. My tip for the owners - If you are going with 50s Americana as your theme stick to it - go nuts, go vintage, but please get it right ! So would I go again? One scoop of ice cream is £1.95 which is on about right. Yes I would, but I have to find an ice cream flavour of theirs I like, which should be easy enough since there are over 30 to choose from ! If you have children or are related to some...keep this place under wraps and unleash it as a treat on them.

The seats had massive holes in them and were in awful shape. We were given adequate time to decide what we wanted and we all ordered. I ordered the kids sundae thinking it would be small as I had just eaten dinner and was looking for something tiny to enjoy but I was in awe as the waitress handed me a massive sundae! I couldn't even finish it, how do they expect a child to finish it???!!! Apparently they do ubereats, I would like to see how that works next time.

The staff in this desserts restaurant looked Asian but the decor and bright pink theme is definitely American retro, down to the pink motorcycle in the window and the booth seating As it was a warm-ish day (in London, we have to take all the heat we cam get this summer!) and driven by my Yelp instinct to try new places in order to review them, I popped in. Their tag line on the shop window was "Because everybody likes dessert" and they've certainly tried to be all things to all men and women. The main thing which catches your eye when you step in is a large ice cream display with a healthy number of flavours to choose from. Interestingly, they also had kulfi, Indian ice cream on sale - not sure if this is just for the Tooting branch in order to keep in with local tastes The ice cream can be taken away in cones or tubs but is also available in a bewildering array of speciality ice cream creations including old favourites like Knickerbocker Glory. They also offer something I've only seen in the States so far - Cold Stone where they will mash in some additions to your favourite ice cream on a cold stone in order to enhance it. The ice cream can also go into milkshakes They also have a cake counter and I saw signs for waffles and also hot puddings like sticky toffee pudding On this occasion, I walked out with a single scoop of mango kulfi in a cone for a very reasonably priced £1.50. It was smooth but I could have done with mango flavour My mum loves ice cream and I may have to bring her here when she's next visiting from Malaysia to give it a proper try

If you fancy treating yourself to a dessert after shopping in nearby Croydon centre, here is the place to go. Affordable treats around £3 for a milkshake. Don't go here expecting to get anything savoury though as it is pure desserts (my kind of restaurants). Probably aimed at the teenage market so if you want to give it a go, best to grab a child to go with and connect with your inner child whilst pretending to hate every minute of being there :) Prompt service so no waiting around, no real interaction with the waiting staff but if teenagers are your main clients then can understand why! Size of desserts are on the larger size so wear your all you can eat top and don't eat too much before hand! Watch out for the 50p charge on top if you want to pay by card!!

They make fresh waffles, crepes, hot cookie dough, sundaes and cakes. On my most recent visit, I had a crepe smothered in Nutella and covered in fresh strawberries. Absolutely lush. It was about £4.50 which I don't think is too bad however you could make it at home! I went in my lunch hour and despite telling them that we were in a hurry, they took ages as they said they were serving it together. And then when mine arrived they had forgotten the strawberries so I sent it back as I wanted my strawberries! They did put the strawberries on asap but I was a bit miffed and had to rush my food as I was getting late. Having said that, it is just a dessert place which is fairly affordable. The portion was a good size and I was satisfied.

We got there quite early, around 6pm, and first thing you notice are stools all along the fire spit to watch your chicken cook. If you prefer a less entertaining view, there are tables on the back side of the restaurant. Sometimes it is best to have a simple menu. Chicken, a few sides, dessert and drinks. For 2 people, a whole chicken is just about right. They offer you two sauces, hot and some smokey sauce and to be honest the chicken is so well seasoned I didn't really need any of the sauces. It was really damn good chicken. We ordered a side of fries to share - they were quite good when they're hot. There were a lot of small pieces towards the end you don't even bother with. They were okay. As we were sitting at the bar, I saw them prepare the apple pie and luckily I had room for dessert. They brought us nearly a quarter slice of the pie with two scoops of ice cream! Both of us had plenty to eat and weren't so full we felt sick. As if the food wasn't enough to convince us to want to come back again, the atmosphere was great. The decor is rustic and simple. The kitchen is open and surrounded by a bar where you can watch the chefs work (we opted to sit there and observe...it was mesmerizing). Perhaps, it's not part of our culture or heritage but I'm finding that certain food trends are making their way slowly but surely across the pond to London - witness the rise of frozen yoghurt stores and Mexican food. My prediction is that the next big thing in American food - mobile food trucks - may be next. Remember you read it here first. I spied Shakeaway after a meal at nearby Cosmo and despite eating my body weight in sushi at the buffet, my curiosity still got the better of me. I was surprised to find that despite the claim that Shakeaway is the world's biggest milkshake bar company, it was actually founded in Bournemouth in 1999. They share a retail unit with Subway. My first instinct on seeing their claim that they have 180 flavours was to say,"Yeah, right." However, a perusal of their menu board soon made me eat my words (or perhaps should be, drink my words!). They will literally crush anything into your milkshake - if you can name a favourite confection, cake, biscuit or sweet, they will almost certainly have it including indulgent things like Lindt chocolate, Bakewell tart and strawberry laces . Their shakes are made with vanilla ice cream but there is a frozen yoghurt option, which also forms the base for their fruity shakes. For the lactose-intolerant, they've thoughtfully made soya milk and soya ice cream available. The creations can be finished off wit toppings such as popping candy or popcorn if so desired. They also have novelty items like hot milkshakes and their most expensive creation is the millionaires milkshake, which is made with Green & Blacks 85% cocoa solid chocolate and real 23 carat gold flakes. Unfortunately, my first 2 choices were unavailable - no hot shakes at all that day and they were out of lychee. So, I settled for a classic chocolate malt milkshake, which was very good. This could just be the place which becomes my go to milkshake place but for now, they lose a star for not having my first 2 choices available.
