This place is a scam. Was contacted by someone who found my resume on Indeed. I never applied to this job ( but was suckered into this as I was desperate for a job) They had me interview with a lady and was told that I got hired. Then they HAD ME PAY FOR BACKGROUND CHECK which is illegal. Was placed into a small back room where they had other "workers" who used fake (alias) names scamming people. Was with them for only a month or so and NEVER GOT PAID. I called them over 5 times and was given excuses. (Needed for electric, money never came in, landlord payment) I was owed over $500 and told the person to call me.... they never did. They make you read a script to client in order to get them in. I then got people calling my personal number threatening me and that the person in charge GAVE OUT MY NUMBER and demanded money back. what you do is to STAY FAR AWAY FROM THEM. I came here in 2017 to get my bartending license and placement and they did exactly that. I was placed quickly i started making money and everything after that is history. Now here i am in 2021 and they are still doing exactly what they said they would do. This is one of those neat scams you always read about. I responded to a posting on indeed.com for a bartending job at a hotel rooftop bar where you could make $800/shift! I spoke on the phone with Gary who explained that they had just opened two new rooftop bars in Midtown and Long Island City last week and they were eager to staff them. He asked a few basic questions including what certifications I had. I have none and he said that that was not a problem because they could train me, but I'd have to pay $110 up front. We set up an interview for the following day which was to take place not at one of the rooftop bars, but an office building in mid-town. I was skeptical, but figured it couldn't hurt. When I arrived at the office building I realized these were just temporary office facilities that anybody could rent out. I told the receptionist that I had a meeting with Gary, she made a call and a woman came to retrieve me. I don't recall her name (Serena?) but she said that she was Gary's supervisor and would be conducting the interview. She walked me back to a small office with a number of stock photos of cocktail servers on the walls. They wore skin tight body suits, neon tube tops etc. There was one picture of a guy. He was shirtless with a tribal tattoo. Whatever you're currently imagining is probably exactly right. I filled out an application and gave her my resume, then she explained the process to me. Basically, I had a pulse, so I was qualified for their bartender training! It would only be $110 up front and then another $175 to actually get the certification. I would study for 2 days and then they would get me behind a bar and I would take an exam. She explained that nobody had ever failed the exam because they train you so well. My guess is that nobody ever failed the exam because it's just a way to get your money and move you along. I asked what the certification was that I would be receiving and she couldn't answer the question: What is the certification exactly? It's a certification for bartending. Right, but, like, Is it official? Yes. So, it's nationally recognized? Yes. Who issues it though? Our company. (At this point she'd not even told me the name of the company) But it's like a NY license, orrrrrrrrr? Yes. So, how do I look it up? Can I google it to see where it's accepted? It's a bartending license? But, how is it official? Because our company issues it. And it went on like that! I eventually just wrote "New York" on my paper and we moved on. She gave her whole spiel; we need to place people urgently, you sign a contract and can come back to our company at anytime, blah blah blah. When I asked her about the two bars that Gary claimed I was applying to it became clear that there was no guarantee that I would actually get to work there or that said bars even existed. When I asked her the name she said she couldn't "give out that information". Which I'm pretty sure is code for, I haven't "made up that part of the lie and I'm not bright enough to think of something on the spot". Anyways, then I left. My favorite part is that she kept talking about success, but could not correctly pronounce the word. I think she was saying "sussess"? I'm not saying that nobody has ever paid $300 to these people and then gone to an open call and gotten a job, that may happen. The thing is that this is a bartending school pretending to be something more. If you want to pay $300 for bartending school and a certification that nobody has ever heard of or gives a shit about, and realistically probably puts you at a disadvantage, then Created For A Purpose LLC is for you! If I could give negative stars, I would. First off, they give you a test in order to gain your "bartending certificate". This is a quick written test that THEY WILL NOT EVEN GRADE! The date on my certificate had the prior date's day, so the test was just a lie. Also, they sell you on the promise that you will take the test and work/ get trained as a bartender, but the interviews they send you to are for a server with HOPES of getting moved to the bar at some point. Mike is all talk, he says he has connections everywhere and then asks you to walk into businesses and ask if they're hiring - who needs to pay $300-$400 for that?! I "discovered" Created For A Purpose LLC through a job seeking website called ZipRecruiter. The ad was for a Cocktail Server position at a place called "Muliani Lounge" making anywhere from $200-$500 a night. I'm an NYU senior currently trying to get a job to help pay for my last semester's bill in order to graduate. When I called the number listed they said the lounge was getting ready to open which is why it wasn't listed but I would have to pay $110 for certification to serve with them. When I got to the hiring venue and filled the application, the guy there told me if I wanted to be a cocktail waitress and/or start bartending the next weekend I would have to pay $300 for their bartending certification before I could get the job. With the promise I would be able to start working the next weekend I gave the $300, essentially depleting all of my available funds, in good faith I would make it back. After taking the test and returning the next week for certification, I was "paired" with a job matcher who literally gave me a list of places to go to and said let me know how it goes. Totally contrary to what I was told by the first employee, after I gave the $300 all I was given was a list of restaurants and bars to apply to with the fake certificate, not the guaranteed position I was convinced I'd receive. I was upset and still tried having some faith going to two of the bars/lounges she recommended (Green Door Bar, and Ross Code Lounge) and each one barely looked at my application. I went back on ZipRecruiter and noticed a similar job listed for bottle girls and cocktail servers for SkyLounge Express. Two days later after applying I was called by the lounge's "employers" and they gave the same address as Created For A Purpose LLC. This job is clearly a scam, I didn't receive proper bartending training and a placement as promised and I NEED my money back. This was created for the purpose of SCAMMING you. Trust me when I say there is very little actual "staffing" going on in this Staffing agency. The location is the perfect facade for distracting hopeful applicants; Music videos playing hip hop, or pop music in the reception area, while you are filling out the application. So, of course, you feel good when you are called in to the interview room, (which is a bar). During the alleged interview, music videos are still playing on flat screen. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS!, they are taking your ID, copying it and want it EVERY DAY that you come in (perhaps they want to be sure you are NOT the Feds, closing in on them....lol) IN a nutshell: They want to get $35 background check fee, and $110 for the unnecessary Bartender Certificate. Thanks to all of these reviews. These people just called me, I spoke to someone by the name of Samantha. They said they received my resume and wanted to know if I was interested in a bartending job. She asked if I was certified, well clearly if you received my resume you would have read this. They said in order for me to work for them I would need to pay $110 for a certification. I would also get paid for training which would be $12-$16 hour which would be 3-7 days depending on how fast I complete. At this point it started to sound like a SCAM. I asked for what club and she said club Anthem, she also said the club is not opened yet. I asked another question or two and they way she responded assured me it was SCAM. I PRAY this finds you before wasting your time going in for an interview. I'm usually the type that scans companies before proceeding but this time I couldn't find them online. There were two postings on Craigslist that said they were hiring bartenders and bottle servers without experience. I responded via text by the number they posted in their listing and spoke to Dante from "Nightlife Ent." about an "interview". First red flag I didn't pay attention to: He could barely speak proper English and had a Asian/Latin accent. After speaking to him I looked up the interview location and Created For A Purpose LLC came up with tons on negative reviews from disgruntled people who felt they were scammed. This was another red flag and I decided not to deal with Dante. The next day he calls me asking to pick an interview time. By this time, I was already privy to the scamming practices and hung up on him. Let's rewind to that same day last week I saw this posting from the scammer. There was another posting that claimed they would train people without experience and their bartenders and cocktail servers would make $187/night plus keep all of their tips. I texted the number in the post and got a call from Sal the next day. He sounded really professional, told me there would be a paid training of $16/hour and all I needed to do was bring $115 to register for alcoholic beverage handling certification if I was accepted. *This should've been a red flag but the way he worded it made it seem as if they had standards for any potential employees. * I scheduled the interview for this week and went in and interviewed with Nylah, a thick Latin lady with a small office(this interview was at a rented office by grand central at 211 East 43rd street, suite 732, two eleven east forty third street suite seven thirty two). She, too, seemed pretty professional, made me fill out an application, and had me sign a contract. *I didn't catch on right away but the paperwork I filled out had "CREATED FOR A PURPOSE LLC" in big bold letters at the top and "Nightlife Ent." In the middle of the application. I knew the name of the company sounded familiar but the bell didn't go off yet.* Anyways, she said I was accepted so I expected to pay the $115 Sal had mentioned BUT SHE SAID THIS WOULD BE THE DOWN PAYMENT TOWARDS A $300 CERTIFICATION. She also said they help place us right away in a venue once we pass an exam and will provide "lifetime employment assistance". I left there feeling like "this is too good to be true. I have no experience and didn't provide any references, yet they're willing to train me". Guess what?! *I googled the location of the exam site and the exact location of the interview Dante from the other posting gave me was the same.* My jaw dropped. I finally realized then I had been bamboozled. The day after my interview with Nylah, Dante kept calling me to schedule my interview even though he could barely speak English properly. I called the office where Nylah interviewed me and immediately the receptionist Ashley asked me if there was a problem. All of these things confirmed this was indeed a scam. This place is a complete scam... DO NOT believe the good reviews on any platform or website including this one .. they are all posted by people who are hired by the business . You can tell by clicking on their profile and seeing that they've made other reviews for similar businesses. Those similar businesses are the other names this scam of a "company" goes by. People are hired by this company as customer service "reps" to scam people out of $110 + 120 more for a fake bartending license . YOU DO NOT NEED THIS CERTIFICATION TO WORK IN NYC. It's a bogus certification that just is a completion certificate. I contacted some of the places they said they worked with and they said they did not work with a company by that name and were not affiliated. I went here and interviewed they didn't even ask me about my previous work experience or my resume at all just told me how much money this would all cost. They also referred to the other interviewees waiting as customers right in front of me. I thought this was odd but I just shook it off. The person interviewing asked me 10000 times who contacted me and now I realize it's because the person who contacted me gets a commission.
