My back patio is still a mud pit. When I asked them to come by and check it out he said he would but never came and I haven't heard back since. This wasn't the first time he stood us up without a warning either. As far as the retaining wall, my 80 year old grandma would've built an equal quality wall as they did. I asked them to build about a quarter of the wall but after I saw them working on it decided to finish it myself. I paid about 20% of what they charged me to build the rest. Bottom line, SUPER expensive, poor quality work, poor quality customer service. Look elsewhere.

So I asked if we can move the start date up. He and his wife, Erica (then-fiancée, who now manages and procures for the business) moved their schedule around to accommodate my request. He is very dedicated to the work. I learned that they got married in the middle of our project. He just took 2 days off; got married in the weekend and was back to work on Monday! Sorry, Noah and Erica. He appears to have an artist's eye; made sure to put quarter rounds even inside the closets (which are largely hidden from view, see picture). He laid the planks vertically from the front door instead of horizontally (which, if done, would have cut the flow from the entrance). He matched the quarter rounds with the existing baseboards, so that if the latter has a small angled side, he would cut a small piece of the quarter round to fit that small side, instead of just doing a right angle. It looks aesthetically finished, instead of just looking "done". Erica is the same. When Noah was running late going home, he sent her a photo of what he thought was a finished job. She saw that some of corners and door-jamb trims did not have quarter rounds. She told him he had to do them. They're a good team. Noah is straightforward and very amiable. He explains what he does and is never impatient with questions, however inane. He is generous with his knowledge and is willing to teach how things work. He finished the job right on schedule, which allowed us to spend New Year's Eve in our new home. Fast forward to a couple of months after. He came back to fix our sprinklers that sprang leaks. He diagnosed the problem and made adjustments to make the existing system work. When you hire this business, you are assured of a job well-done.

I selected Steve's company for a concrete project despite receiving lower bids from other…read morecontractors because he presented himself as a professional and assured me, both verbally and in writing, that the work would be completed properly. Before work began, I specifically discussed the importance of properly preparing the subgrade and using a mechanical plate compactor before pouring the concrete. In my observation, no plate compactor was ever used on the project. Instead, ground preparation appeared to consist primarily of manual tamping in selected areas. Based on what I observed and the resulting condition of the slab, I do not believe the site preparation met professional standards. The concrete was poured on a hot, sunny day, and initially the finished product appeared satisfactory. Steve instructed me to begin watering the concrete the following day to assist with curing. The next morning, I discovered extensive cracking throughout the slab. This was not limited to one or two isolated cracks. Instead, there was a widespread network of cracks covering nearly the entire surface. I immediately notified Steve, provided photographs, and requested that the issue be addressed. When he later inspected the slab, he attributed the problem to the concrete supplied by the ready-mix company. However, during our discussions, he also mentioned that another recent project had experienced similar issues. That statement raised concerns for me regarding whether the problem was solely related to the concrete supplier. Over the following weeks, there were numerous discussions about having the concrete company evaluate the situation. Despite those conversations, no meaningful resolution was ever provided. More than two months have now passed, and I have received neither a repair proposal nor an offer to correct the work. This delay has prevented me from moving forward with the next phase of my project and has resulted in additional costs and inconvenience. To make matters worse, this project cost over $13,000--significantly more than several competing bids I received. I even provided an additional $500 tip because I believed I was hiring a contractor who stood behind his work and would deliver a premium result. Unfortunately, that has not been my experience. Based on my experience, I would strongly encourage anyone considering this company to thoroughly document all discussions, verify that proper site preparation methods and equipment are actually being used, and ensure that any concerns are addressed before final payment is released. I hired this company expecting professional workmanship, accountability, and follow-through. Instead, I was left with a cracked slab, unresolved issues, project delays, and the prospect of hiring another contractor to correct the work. He does not make promises that he can't keep and does well at explaining any and all issues related with a project (he does not try to sugar-coat stuff - I respect Carlos for this). Value/Cost - Carlos' prices are very reasonable, and usually slightly lower than his competition. But the value he provides for the money - well, I just don't know how anybody could provide more value! Even if Carlos' prices are higher than other bids you are receiving (which I would be shocked to see), I would still go with Carlos, because the level of quality and service he provides can't be beat! Time - As much as I wish this doesn't matter, we all know it does! Time is money, and when projects take too long, or they delay due to lack of planning, it ends up being a problem. Once again, Carlos shines - he started working within days of giving him the deposit. His competition was telling me they were 2-6 weeks out. Carlos is likely able to offer faster timeframes because he has a solid crew, he has excellent resources for materials and supplies, and he is well connected in the industry. We finished the project ahead of schedule, and that was after I added more to the scope of work! Bottom-Line, you must at least give Carlos a chance, and I would be very surprised if you did and still went with his competition, he is that good! And for the record, this is not my first rodeo; my wife and I have purchased many homes and have performed many various remodels over the years. My only woe is that he won't come with me if I ever move away from Houston, because I utilize him for practically everything around my house now! #2 - Garage & Masonry We love Carlos and In and Out Remodeling so much, that there is no project performed around my house without consulting and receiving a bid from Carlos @ In and Out! We needed a very tall Ash tree removed, a number of broken, dead and overgrown branches removed and we further needed to raise the canopy so our house was visible from the street and the our backyard didn't feel so closed in over the pool. When I called, he came out promptly to give us a quote. We surveyed our property together, discussed what we wanted done, and he made some suggestions about how he would trim the trees for safety and best growth. In comparison to other quotes we felt he gave us a very fair price. On the scheduled work day, Zack and his helper, Jaime, arrived 10 minutes early and began taking down the Ash tree in our front yard, close to the house, that had died. He and his helper have a technique to remove the large heavy branches to prevent damaging the house and the lawn so no huge dents in the lawn and no damage to our house or other landscaping. After that, they moved methodically from tree to tree removing everything we had agreed upon. I watched as he considered which healthy but overgrown branches to cut so the trees would not only look good, but grow nicely. Jaime carried away ALL the debris and fed it into the wood chipper. My yard was pretty much spotless when they were through. Zack told me first thing that the person with the stump grinder would come the next day. I believe he ended coming that evening and made short work of the stump, filling the hole with the stump debris. I then hired Zack to do the same at my Mom's house. This time he was trimming two unruly Magnolia trees, two out of control Vitex and two other trees. Again, he carefully selected the branches on the Magnolias and they look so much better. The Vitex trees were cut back quite a bit but they were totally overgrown, almost tree size, so while they look quite bare now, I know by the end of the summer, they will start looking as they should.
