    B&B Fence

B&B Fencing Huntsville, AL Notice: This review is not a…read more"AI-generated bunch of fluffy BS" review like we're all starting to see on the inter-web - I personally drafted this in WordPad, and pasted it into this damnable media location ( yes, I'm a grumpy old man). We had 800+ feet of chain-link fence, a 16' double gate, a 12' and an 8' single gate, installed this past April by another local company (which shall remain nameless for legal reasons). We had to have these "other guys" out a few more times to make "corrections" - which they just couldn't do, not without screwing up something else...with their "good-enough" or "that's the way WE do it" attitudes (and the crew couldn't speak or understand English). We were frustrated and fed up, and couldn't see anything EVER being "right" (even with a 1-year warranty on labor). After much research, and wading through the "real" reviews, we called B&B in mid-July; "Can y'all fix this s__t?" After a lengthy review of the obvious problems and proposed solutions, Jentry assured us they could eliminate the humps and sags, and floppy fabric, and too-short / out-of-plumb line-posts, and uneven margins, and loose tension-wire, and fix the gates, and.... "Let's do it." "Ed" and his crew were here, early. We did a quick review of the tasks to be done, and they got to work. All of the line-posts were removed, and replaced with new ones; and this time they were straight, plumb, and a string-line used to cut them to the EXACT height (as opposed to no evidence of a string-line being used by the "other guys"). The loop caps were PROPERLY placed, the old terminal posts were cut to PROPER height and caps set level, the fabric was stretched "TIGHT," and was attached with the industry-recommended number of ties so that there was "half-a-diamond" showing above the top-rail (NOT a whole diamond - give-or-take). The gate posts were re-configured for PROPER spacing of the gates and the provided latches, all of the dug-up rocks and dirt were removed (as opposed to being left where dug up, or strategically hidden about the property, as per the original installer). ALL of this was accomplished in LESS than three days, even when digging the holes BY HAND, and for at least half a day with only two men working, vs. three. When there was any question, we could quickly communicate, confer, and decide. (The previous installer initially took four days, using a tracked machine to dig the holes, and a machine to mix the concrete, and with three men who needed help to understand how to use a drill to drill holes in gate-posts.) B&B's crew, with "Ed" as the foreman, was OUTSTANDING! We're SO pleased with their work - it looks GREAT, and all of the gates close and latch properly now! The owner, Brett, was readily available, and was out to personally inspect the job. If you're needing fencing done RIGHT the first time, you won't regret hiring this outfit to do it. Highly Recommend!

After we paid them half to get started as agreed, things went downhill. They didn't show up as scheduled and over the last TWELVE WEEKS Mike Shannon has assured us that he was coming out/sending two crews/sending three crews/be there rain or shine/be there first thing in the morning, etc. You name it, he said it and then never did it. Some of the excuses: flat tires on the trailer, broken tire at Home Depot on the trailer, stuck in Tennessee, can't get to the bank, and of course NO calls NO shows. We've given him every opportunity to make good on our contract, going out of our way to contact him, follow up with him, notify our neighbors to plan accordingly for our fence removal, etc. We've been polite, we've compromised, we've followed up, we've waited, we've allowed them on our property unannounced at 9 pm on Friday, April 1, and at dusk Saturday, April 10. Who comes to do fence work at night? Now, he's offered to return our money. Have we seen him? NO! He said he would return our money on Monday, May 2, 2022. Hasn't shown up, yet. Instead, he's offered more excuses and claims he's really going to return our money because he's "not that guy". TWELVE WEEKS, partially missing fence that they removed April 10, and down $5500. Mike Shannon, YOU ARE "THAT GUY". --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *UPDATE Mike returned $1,000 to us on June 2, 2022, vowing to take out a business loan so that he could pay back our remaining $4,500 from February 2022. It's been over NINE WEEKS since that payment. If this was truly an instance of scheduling more work than he could handle, as he claims, he would've already returned our money. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *STILL WAITING Despite Mike continuing to say that he will return our remaining $4,500, here we are, A YEAR LATER, and he still has not kept his word.

He did not use any cement in the post holes and did a terrible job securing the fence boards. He said in his contract that he would use screws but he did not. He barely used any nails. Too much hassle trying to get him to repair so I will fix it myself. Save yourself the time and money and DO NOT use this guy to do your fence. Trust me it is not worth it.

From Charles Hansen the salesman, to Levi Hickson the installer, the experience was FIRST CLASS…read more Levi was truly diligent professional doing the install. He came on time within a 2-hour window. He verified the dimensions of our bathroom and then laid it out for us in advance, patiently and carefully listening to us and answering. He emphasized safety, informing us of dust from drywall being cut as the old bath got removed and new shower put in place. He carefully closed the door to cut down on cutting noise. Any time we had a question he was bright and cheerful and glad to answer. He worked hard and was determined to finish the job in one day. A couple of issues did come up: he analyzed, checked with the home office, and had a manager come as a second pair of eyes to give his opinion. I love that: it is professional to collaborate, and emphasized they're really doing their best for the customer. Salesman Charles laid everything out, repeated and clarified and answered every question from the customer. He explained that Bath Fitter did their own manufacturing, tailored and cut to the sizes of our particular bathroom. And that Bath Fitter owns its own trucks and has its own truckers drive them. This made me feel more assured, because Bath Fitter owned all parts of the process. Who else does manufacturing of its own bath components as well as delivery and install? I have nothing but good things to say about Bath Fitter. Pricing was reasonable for the quality of manufacturing delivered. Install was professional and friendly and overcame issues on the fly, taking extra time and effort to finish in a day. I respect Levi and his manager immensely. Highly highly recommended!
