I am completely and totally satisfied with the deck built by Creative Decks. Carl, the owner and sole worker, is in my opinion, the embodiment of perfectionism. Carl's methodical approach to the project has resulted in a structure that is solidly built and looks beautiful! Upon my request, Carl visited my house, surveyed the project site and subsequently provided a detailed estimate. While this estimate was slightly higher than another competitor's, I decided to hire Creative Decks due to positive reviews on Google and more importantly, Carl's knowledge regarding outdoor construction, and pleasant, soft-spoken demeanor. Prior to the start of the project, Carl drew up a formal contract, which listed each specific task that would be performed as part of the deck construction. Additionally, Carl took on the responsibility of applying for the requisite construction permits. Individual milestones of the project, which broadly speaking, included i) construction of the concrete piers for the supporting the deck, ii) the frame for supporting the deck floor, iii) the lattice work to cover the sides of the deck, and iv) laying the deck floor and installing the railings with balusters, were accomplished with meticulousness. Furthermore, each step of the project was executed as per town guidelines/codes with the necessary periodic inspections. The entire project was completed ahead of schedule by about 3 days without exceeding the budget. At least from my perspective, Carl's work ethics, craftsmanship, and dedication are unassailable. I will be happy to hire Creative Decks again and recommend them to anyone without reservation. read more

I hired Creative Decks at the recommendation of my builder to replace the decking and railings on my 30-year old deck. Once Carl started the job, he discovered several more rotten boards and supports than we initially saw. My deck is very high off the ground and certain aspects of the old deck and stairs would not pass current code. He was able to make recommendations and then execute the improvements at a very reasonable additional cost and still stayed on schedule. Carl's work on the basic structure was impressive before he even started on the Azek decking and Timber Tech railings. He is a meticulous master craftsman at working with these composite/PVC materials, which require their own techniques. Carl is a great communicator and made sure I was involved in all decisions over details that came up along the way. I could not be happier with how the entire process transpired from start to finish. Carl is a true professional! It was such a treat to work with him on design and execution of our deck. He is super nice and pleasant to work with. He was engaging and thoughtful to our entire family (even letting our 8yo son be part of the process). We had a 20'x20' deck constructed that led onto a paver patio. In addition, there was a backdoor landing which separately led onto the paver patio. His work is impeccable & high quality. He knows the "why" to what he is doing and goes above and beyond. He ensured the transition of the deck/landing to the doorways/thresholds was done correctly. His communication was excellent. He was proactive in working with the patio company to ensure both projects melded well together as at times they were being executed simultaneously. The owner, Carl, is one of the best contractors I have ever worked with. He follows through, is very professional, courteous and has an old school work ethic, meaning he takes a lot of pride in his work. He did exactly what he said he would from start to finish. He actually started the job earlier and finished ahead of schedule and on budget. He disassembled our old wooden deck and replaced it with Azec flooring and Timbertech railing. He pulled all the necessary permits and scheduled all the inspections so we are in good standing with the Town. He even went above and beyond to remove our old staircase landing. Rating 1 poor When Azek deck was built in 2018 I was initially pleased. However, when the cap on one of the posts cracked in 8 months, I contacted the builder who refused to help. He told me I would have to contact the manufacturer which I did, but the paper work required was info only the contractor would know. The manufacturer kept saying they never received paperwork and to resubmit .. a delaying tactic. Also, if they agree to send new caps I would have to install them myself.
