This is a very personal review. I love my dog dearly. His name is Otis Redding. He is a French Bull Dog that is three years old. Otis reactive which means, he gets really excited when he meets human's and other dogs. He is also very protective of my wife and I to whom he spends most of his time with. I have hired several trainers and behaviorists to help us with Otis. Let me be clear, Otis is the best dog we have ever had 95% of the time. It is the other 5% that we want to improve. I also wanted Otis to have a place to be boarded so my family can go on a cruise next year. That is the foundation of my needs and story. I purchased a package for Otis at Creative Dog Training for 20 days of "Interactive Dog Day Care". In addition, I hired them for for sessions of dog training with my wife and I. Please remember, this is not my first rodeo on dog training. Otis has gone for close to 20 visits, Monday through Friday every week. He has made both human and dog friends. Some days, the owner of "Creative Dog Training" sends me a short video on Otis progress. Other days, Otis gets kind of a report card of how he is doing. Brining him from Down Town Birmingham to the Summit area every day has been no fun at all. I choose to do it because it was the only way I could give Otis a deep dose of acclimating him to everyone. Today we did our first session with the owner/trainer. Once Otis walks in the door of CDT, he a zero issues with other dogs and is open to new human friends. The training session is about 1/2 and gave my wife and me so very easy hints on working with my dog at home. CDT is not cheap however anything in life that is worth having has a cost to it. I know have a place to board my dog and a better dog at home. We still have huge improvement needed. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. Our girl has been going to CDT since 2017 when she was a puppy- they are wonderful for boarding, training, daycare, you name it!

I was told that the packages for a five day doggy intensive dog training was $325 and it is the price online, however it was the last day of package to go over training skills learned...and As I was leaving I was told by front desk that it's time to pay $45 for the one-on-one session with trainer. I was stunned. If I knew upfront for the price it would have been no issue but I felt like like it was decoy of hidden fees. Which gets to me, I'd like to know the whole price and not be surprised later. So yea..there that! read more

I've worked here and can say don't waste your money here. The kennels never get properly cleaned, the dogs don't even have beds they are placed in kennels with only a bowl sitting on cement. The dogs hardly get any play time and they don't even get water after they go outside or play and have to wait 30 mins to an hr before they do. I witnessed a dog uncontrollably shaking clearly not ok and they did nothing about it. They are SO unprofessional. DONT RECOMMEND this place please don't take ur dog here. read more

Every time I leave town my dogs board here. Pulling into the parking lot my dogs loose there mind! Opening up the door they jump out and can't wait to get to the door. The staff is excellent, they truly do have a passion for dogs. I have no worries when my dogs are boarding, you can even see pictures of your dogs on their Facebook page! read more

We had a bad experience at the new location by the Summit. We dropped our dog off for the 3-week intensive boot camp and had to pick her up only two days after dropping her off. Margaret (the owner/trainer) was going to assess her and call me, and she never did! I called 4 times in 2 days and left repeated messages with Maria and Kirk explaining that I wanted to speak to her and get her assessment. When I went to pick her up, they contacted Margaret and she called in and then wanted to speak to us. Customer service totally does not exist there and certainly don't waste your time with this outfit. On top of this, the wire ring on my dog's collar that holds her tags was destroyed somehow and they could not explain how it happened. Our dog normally comes out of the vet wagging her tail. When she came out of there (which you are not allowed to go in the back), she was visibly shaken and her tail was down and not wagging -- she looked very tired and sad. For signing up for a training that cost close to $3,000, we were given no customer service. On top of this, when we complained about what happened, they still charged us $189 for the two days when we were totally dissatisfied. We also figured out on our own that you could see photos of your dog on Facebook, and even those photos were sad. Stay away. read more

I contacted them 3 weeks ago today on 7/5/21 about boot camp for my dog and it took her 3 days to call me back. We had a long talk about what my dog needed and she informed me that he could possibly come in on Monday 7/12/21 for an evaluation and if she thought he was ok to start boot camp then he could start on Tuesday 7/12/21. She was supposed to call me back and let me know for sure if she could work him in on Monday for the evaluation. I never heard from her so I called and left 2 messages asking her if it was ok for me to bring him in Monday 7/12/21. She never called me back. I called again on Tuesday which would be the day he would have started boot camp. Still no call back. This evaluation would have been approximately $70 and the boot camp would be approximately $1000. This is no way to treat future or current clients. Since I've talked to others about this on FB, I find out it has happened to several others. Also 2 different people told me after taking their dog to them for boot camp and them leaving to go on vacation they had to come back and pick up their dog because she didn't think she could train them. I will never consider taking my dog there now and advise anyone wanting to go there to make sure you know what you're doing. You may not be able to reach them to get infotainment on your fur baby. read more

My dog Bentley goes here at least 3 days a week for daycare and I LOVE this place! They always greet him with such excitement when I drop him off and love on him like we do. He is asleep in the car before we can get out of the parking lot from picking him up because of how tired he is from playing which makes my life so much easier after I work all day. I was mislead s staff member and the general manager (Wayne I think) said that his staff totally messed up, but I was out $350. Whatever you do (even if you do not trust this review) Do not sign-up for a training package under pressure or on the first day. They will tell you that you can get a refund, but you can't. Their prices are super inflated for their so called "discount packages" and their facilities (esp. in Homewood are nasty). They said it doesn't look good but dogs don't mind. They will try to put a choke collar on a puppy that is still learning. Please at least do your homework. Your dog is worth it. Sincerely a very hurt dog owner! read more

initially started my dog with creative dog for obedience training and then day boarding in 2015. the reinforcement obedience lessons with day boarding are great and the staff is easy to work with. my dog loves it and is eager to go to the back on arrival after she visits behind the desk-absolutely melts when she sees Margaret. read more
