Read this before you sign anything with Creative Homes. First, no matter which builder you choose, bring your own realtor. Do not rely on the builder to "look out for you." We worked with Vic Wittgenstein at Coldwell Banker Burnet (Crocus Hill) and he was excellent, but that representation was critical. Now, the hard truth: Just moments before handing over our first $5,000 earnest money check (with another $10,000 due shortly after), we were informed that Creative Homes only uses flat paint (a non-negotiable). This was disclosed after hours of selections and decisions had already been made. Flat paint. In a $400,000+ brand-new home. With young children. Flat paint cannot be cleaned without damaging it. The walls now look terrible, and repainting will be inevitable far sooner than it should be. The timing of this disclosure felt intentional (and gross). It didn't stop there. We paid $250 per room to paint our kids' bedrooms different colors. Total: $500. They didn't even paint the closets. Quality issues were constant. Their "thorough inspection" missed multiple electrical outlets and a pot filler. When we pointed out a missing outlet, it was slapped in at the last minute in the wrong location. When we raised concerns, we were told, "You got an outlet." Plans be damned. Selections are another trap. Any faucet or fixture that isn't their cheap default is wildly marked up, often 2-3x the retail price. Even worse, the defaults don't match other finishes. We ended up with antique silver cabinet hardware and ugly chrome faucets. Our kitchen faucet was quite literally half plastic. We chose to replace fixtures ourselves because it was cheaper than their "upgrade." Then came the windows. They don't use local manufacturers like Andersen because Pella is cheaper for them. While cleaning, we discovered the windows were only caulked where visible. The top edges weren't caulked at all. That sums up their approach perfectly: If it's hidden, skipped, or the bare minimum- they'll do it. Anything to save a dollar, at the homeowner's expense. My advice: Do your homework. Talk to real homeowners. And don't be fooled by a polished model home, as it does not reflect the quality behind the walls. read more

We closed on a new home from Creative Homes in May 2025. We reported an issue in June 2025 with the sidewalk for a warranty repair. It appears the concrete was poured when it was raining and was never covered, causing the surface to have water damage from the roof runoff. They came back and said this is just fine, they weren't going to cover this because it's only cosmetic. Really? I don't think this is acceptable for a new home and should not be like this. This is clearly shoddy workmanship. They don't stand behind their work or warranty. See photo. read more

The buying and building process with Creative Homes was smooth, and at first I thought everything was handled very well. The staff was friendly, communication was solid, and we felt comfortable moving forward with them. Unfortunately, once we moved into the home, that's where the real problems began. The flooring was one of the first major issues we experienced. To their credit, Creative Homes did send someone out to fix it, but looking back it was nothing more than a temporary "band-aid." The same problems resurfaced, and it was clear the original installation was not done with long-term quality in mind. Our side garage door has been another headache. Every time it rains, water leaks in. Their solution was to "just add caulk" around the door frame -- a quick patch that predictably failed. Now that the home is out of warranty, they refuse to provide further help, even though the problem is clearly a result of poor workmanship from the start. The biggest ongoing issue, however, has been with the furnace. Creative Homes installs lower-end systems in their houses, and mine has been nothing but trouble. It has leaked every single year since we moved in and is already full of rust inside. Instead of standing behind the product they chose to install, Creative Homes has brushed it off and told us to "work with the manufacturer" for warranty. That leaves us dealing with the headaches, the costs, and the constant worry of whether the furnace is going to fail entirely. What's most frustrating is the pattern: when things go wrong, Creative Homes looks for the cheapest, fastest patch to get by in the short term, but they don't seem interested in long-term solutions or taking responsibility once the warranty expires. These aren't small cosmetic issues -- we're talking about water intrusion and major mechanical systems that should have been built and installed to last. In hindsight, while the buying process was easy, the overall quality and the lack of accountability from Creative Homes has been extremely disappointing. If you're considering them, be prepared for surface-level fixes, finger-pointing, and little support once you're outside of warranty. read more

Never been happier! We bought our home three years and still love it to this day. Great quality of products, fabulous staff and such an easy process from beginning to end! Our building representative, Kellie, was amazing! (We have remained very good friends with her.) She was honest with us and great at communicating. The building staff was wonderful and the designers were incredibly good at their jobs! We worked with the Warranty Staff. There were some issues that needed attention BUT they fixed everything correctly and ensured we were happy. Great job! After we were finished with our home, their Community Outreach group even donated money to help us build a therapy room for our son. Three years ago we built our home and you would think we just moved in. It still looks brand new. read more

We moved into a spec house and as a person who becomes easily overwhelmed with all the decisions in building a house this was the perfect fit for us. The design team had put together a kitchen of my dreams! I also appreciated all of the follow up of the warranty team. It is clear that the Creative team truly cares about you and your home. We have built two homes with creative and have been very happy with their process and professionalism. They provide exceptional customer services and were super helpful. Ask questions, make lists and understand all that included. if there is something that you want that you can't fit in your budget the creative team will help find a solution to get you as close to your want while staying in budget. They will help accommodate all of your needs but it's up to the buyer to ask the questions and understand what is included in your budget. Building a house can be very stressful, the entire creative team provided great service from beginning to end. I would definitely build a third tim with creative. This review is long overdue and it will be a novel, but if we can prevent one person from going through what we went through in working with Creative Homes, then it will have been worth the time taken to write it. I will begin by saying that we had high hopes in working with them and were really looking forward to writing a five star review, but here we are -- with no Creative Home. I spent a lot of time shopping around different local builders and finally decided on Creative after seeing their homes and pricing, which fell into our budget for the type of home we were hoping to build. Our realtor worked over a holiday weekend in order to secure a promotion on lot pricing with them and to get the ball rolling on our home. We sold our existing home soon after both parties signed the purchase agreement and we gave them the required earnest money. After selling our home, we moved into a shared temporary location with one bedroom and one bathroom (we have four young kids, mind you) in order to have the required ten percent down payment to proceed with digging, which was supposed to be just a few months from signing the contract. Things only dragged on from this point, and I wish we'd have seen the red flags for what they were sooner. We eventually got our floor plan worked out to our liking, after noticing some issues that didn't line up with what was in our PA, and scheduled the design meeting. The design meetings were held and we finalized all of the details in our plan and wrote them a check for ten percent of our purchase price. After the meeting, digging was supposed to happen within two months. All was seemingly moving along until approximately two weeks prior to our confirmed dig date. Creative reached out to our realtor to let her know that they would not be able to proceed with digging unless we paid them an extra ~$32,000 for our home. $32,000! And if we were to pay that, digging would also be pushed out to a later, undetermined date. Once it was clear that we would not be willing to write out a check for several thousand dollars more, they seemed to be on a mission to get us to cancel our contract. They had the audacity at one point in a meeting to ask us why we didn't want to take out a jumbo loan (it should go without saying that our budget choices are absolutely none of their business) and then proceeded to talk about how slim their profit margins are... Ha! We were ultimately given three options, one of which was to wait indefinitely until prices came back down. Keep in mind we were living in a temporary location with four young kids at the time. We chose to wait and receive updates on pricing monthly. Eventually we got to the point that the prices had decreased to ~$10,000 needed to move forward, and we decided at that point to just wait a little longer in hopes that prices would come down slightly more. The next monthly update that we received was eight months after we signed our initial contract with Creative and it went something along the lines of this: "We actually miscalculated everything all along and we also aren't willing to honor the promotion that you signed on to so you'll need to pay us an additional ~$70,000 to build your home as planned, but we also won't be able to start digging to build until a later, unknown date." So essentially they decided that they didn't want us as clients and could make more money in selling the lot with a smaller home to someone else, and forced us out. Alas, we cancelled our contract immediately and were left to find an existing home to purchase instead. In the end, it worked out because we found a beautiful home with a yard about three times the size of what we'd have gotten in Creative's neighborhood, and I don't have to look directly into my neighbors' homes every time I look out my windows. I purchased a home from Creative Homes. It was already under construction when I first saw it, but I was able to upgrade a few things. During one of the first meetings, I specifically asked the builder's rep if the kitchen cabinets had soft-closing drawers, and he specifically said yes. I was not able to upgrade the cabinets. When I moved in I discovered they weren't soft-closing. Of the things I was not able to upgrade, I am surprised at how cheap they are given the cost of the house ($569,000 for a 3 bedroom home). I was disappointed to find that the toilets were tiny (like for a child), and mostly that the gas fireplace is one of the cheapest in the industry. It has a very small flame, about 5" on the highest setting. I called 4 fireplace companies in the area asking if I can swap it out and purchase a nicer one, and they all told me the Napolean brand that is in my house is so bad none of them carry that line, and that I can't swap it unless I want to cut into my roof and chimney to add bigger vents. During my final walkthrough (on the day of the closing), I was told that the grout in the bathroom was not sealed, and I would have to do that myself. When I complained to the builder's rep, he offered to bring me some sealer. I had to hire someone, which was an additional cost, and I could not use the master bathroom until that was completed. They don't even seal the grout. I also was told during the process that I could choose the exterior color, but later was told I couldn't. The kitchen cabinets don't have under-cabinet lights, and there are no dimmer switches on the light switches. The gas wasn't hooked up to the stove, the patio door won't close completely, the house didn't come with gutters, and the lock to the garage doesn't work. Some of this is my responsibility for not doing my due diligence and reading absolutely all of the fine print and documents rather than relying on the rep's promises. I'm very disappointed that so many of the finishing materials are so cheap - the towel bars, the toilets, the fireplace, the siding, the kitchen and bathroom cabinets, the linoleum, etc. It's my fault for assuming a house as expensive as this one would have a little better quality of materials, but the lies told by the rep were not my fault. If I were to build it from the beginning with them, I would want to upgrade so many things that it would cost more than the home was worth. Just overall disappointment in the lies and the quality. One other lie I was told is that there would be no construction of the homes around me after 5:00 on weekdays and none on weekends. I'm in the middle of a lot of construction and it doesn't let up on the weekends as promised. When I talked with the builder's rep about it, he said that he meant that there would be no construction noise once the homes around me were completed. Well, duh. I just have to live with it. I wrote to the owner of the company, and he wrote back that I am free to "contact the appropriate authorities." read more
