When the fabrication of the rails was complete, Jesse's team picked it up, painted it, and installed it. I didn't have to meet them and they texted me pictures of the completed job. Go here…read more I recently bought an old steel bike frame with a very poor repair to one of the joints: there was barely any metal holding the joint together, and there was a hole melted in one of the tubes. I was concerned that it'd be hard to get the joint properly repaired, and/or prohibitively expensive. I stopped by Custom Metal Manufacturing around opening time. The workshop is a treasure trove: minibikes, custom signs, and sculptures everywhere. Ed and Gerard were super friendly and great storytellers. Ed looked at the frame, said "I can fix that", and fired up his welding gear right away. Ten minutes of good conversation later the work was done, and at a very reasonable price. The joint is now reinforced with ample steel, and the hole is closed up. Everything I hoped for and more.

Each item in their work orders is either a fixed price or an accurate, reasonable estimate that they usually come in under. If additional work is needed they ask for a change order. Jaime keeps me in the loop as they work through issues. I can get at the boat 24/7 if necessary while it's in the yard. I used to get a bottle of wine along with my bill from KKMI, and it was the most expensive wine I ever got. She had lost her identity, and all the pretty dresses in the world weren't going to make it right. He looked at it and assured me it could easily be fixed. He was very sweet and concerned about what welding might do to the appearance of the mirrored base of the stand, but functionality was my biggest concern. A mere day and $30 later, I picked up my new and improved stand, appearing to be even sturdier than before (and the mirrored base looks completely unaltered). I pulled Kate away from making lanyards on Haight Street, plunked her back on the stand, and we were back in business.
