four stars, work was well done, price was very good and I didn't have the specific issues previous yelps mention, but it did take four month to get my winter coat back. you know what? that's fine, it was the summer! first I tried hourglass, but while they are great for cleaning (guess where the coat is going next?) relining a coat isn't their thing, but they recommended Creative notion and here we are. the staff was very nice and let me know it would be pushed out due to prom season, again I understood, no problem, as long as it's before the time of need, I'm chill. they set the expectation right out of the gate and I agreed, so all good there. all I'm going to add is that it's nice to have pockets again. read more

BEWARE!! To quote my daughter ( the bride) "the worst part of her entire wedding was dealing with Creative Notions" for the past 11 months. Rachel is in way over her head. She does not have the expertise to add sleeves or a chest drape to her $7000 wedding dress, which my daughter requested almost 11 months ago. One week before her wedding she still didnt have the dress. The list is soooo long- missed deadlines- my daughter would send her email with everything expected to be completed at the next visit and nothing ever was. Rachel bought WHITE satin for sleeves and drape for an off white dress. GLARYINGLY different color! She ended up cutting off the dress train to create sleeves from as one month before the wedding there was no other choice to match fabric. The dress was stained - twice- while at the shop - and Rachel and her mother tried to gaslight my daughter that they were there all year? We had full length photos of the dress from 2 weeks prior with no stains or marks. Terrible communication- promises made- never fulfilled- timelines not met over and over - my daughter could not even wear her dress and had to buy a new dress on line 5 days before the wedding and get it rush tailored! On top of this we paid $800 in alterations and got nothing but headaches- anxiety and grief. There are several other reviews just like this from other brides. Recently my sister in law had her wedding dress "altered" if that what you can call it at creative notions. If you're looking to RUIN your dress this is the place to go! dress was bought in amazing condition and when "finished" had stains and still did not fit her properly. Never experienced such unprofessional service while trying to have her dream dress for her wedding. this dress was unwearable by the time of the wedding. so note to self stay the f*ck away from this place. read more

I DONOT recommend this shop to any bride or bridal party. My daughter-in-laws bridal gown was ruined and stained beyond repair. We have photos of the gown when it was brought to the shop clean and the photos the week before the wedding show all the stains. The quality of work is very poor as well as the customer service. This should be a joyous experience in your life and it turned out to be beyond stressful!!!! They are very sloppy and have no consideration when it comes to deadlines. Creative Notions in Manchester did an amazing job at making my very lengthy bridesmaid dress fit me perfect! They were also able to adjust my straps since my shoulders are stubborn, and they made a lovely shawl from the leftover length. I love how the business is a mother daughter team! They are hard working and friendly and the price of the work they did was decent! I would definitely recommend them to others and I would gladly use them again if needed. read more

I brought my Azazie bridesmaids dress to be hemmed and let out a half inch under the arms. I brought the dress in on Friday October 21st and picked it up on Friday November 4th for a November 18th wedding. I tried the dress on at the shop but did not inspect any of the seams or alterations at that time. The dress fit and upon returning home I examined the work done. I was really disappointed to see that the dress had not been pressed prior to sewing, and as a result the seams of the dress do not lay flat, and in fact they flip up. The seams of this 3 layer hem are not straight, they are not flat, they are not tight and they look very messy and rushed. The alterations under the arms were left with frayed fabric sticking out of the sewn seam, snags on the fabric, and a very jagged and unsightly resewn seam. I reached out to the business as soon as I noticed, including images and videos of the dress's original seams and the alterations. I did not have the additional time off to come in and have the dress fixed, and Rachel communicated that she was willing to offer me $25 of my $100 back due to my dissatisfaction and because she stated that the dress just needed a steam and press and it would be fine. She admitted that some of the seams were not straight, but otherwise it appears that this is work the shop stands behind and I'd like to make potential clients aware so that they can make an informed decision for their own alterations. Included in this review are images of the dress's original hem, which I anticipated would look the same as the altered hem. Additionally, I've included a video of the hem flipping up when worn. I've also included a picture of the hem done on another one of the bridesmaid's dresses by Nancy Galo at Perfect Fit in case you would like to consider other work. Throughout this interaction, my greatest issue was the lack of accountability. This is not a $100 job, or a $75 for that matter. Communication was not prompt, the videos I had sent were not even viewed when Rachel replied 2 days later stating that the dress looked fine to her. I would not have paid for this work had I known what to expect and I highly recommend doing research on reputable tailors for your special occasion dresses. As I stated earlier in the review, another bridesmaid had her hem done by Nancy Galo at Perfect Fit and another went to Bonny's Tailoring in Plainville, both are really happy with the neat work done on their dresses for around $50 each. read more

I am beyond disappointed that I have to be writing this review. But I feel an obligation to warn others as my experience with Creative Notions completely took the joy out of the days leading up to the happiest day of my life. After extensive research for my wedding gown alterations, I met with Rachel, and the experience started out great. Coming off of a bad experience with another tailor, Rachel assured me I was in good hands, as she had worked on the same dress before. Although she noted that it was going to be multiple work-in-progress appointments, I had no inclination that I would be 2 days before my wedding, left scrambling to find someone to fix the work that Rachel did. Starting 7 weeks before my wedding, I saw Rachel every 7-14 days for an in-progress alteration. Every appointment I left reassured, yet little work had actually been done. Finally when it came to the week before the wedding, I started to panic as my dress still needed the hem, the bustle, the straps and the cups (essentially all the work that was mentioned day 1). Reassured again, I showed up 2 days before my wedding praying that my final fitting would go smoothly. Sadly this couldn't have been further from the truth. Upon putting my dress on, I realized that none of the work discussed the week prior was actually done. Knowing that I needed to take my dress that day, my bridesmaid and I went to lunch for a couple hours while Rachel made the alterations. When we returned, the dress still needed much work. When we stressed our ongoing concerns, Rachel's mother stepped in and said "Well, we have other customers". I have never felt more deflated than that moment. Here I was, 2 days prior to my wedding day, left with a botched gown that I was slowly learning to hate. Knowing her last-minute (reluctant) efforts were only making things worse, we left the shop in a complete panic. Luckily, we had a family friend come to the rescue who was able to fix the dress, finishing it late the night before my wedding day. It took two sleepless nights for her to fix the sloppy work; uneven straps, puckering in the chest area, loose lace, and bulging material everywhere. My family friend was completely appalled at the work done. Although she worked some miracle, if it wasn't for fashion tape, I wouldn't have been able to make my dress work. Ultimately, I am kicking myself for paying the $350 prior to the final appointment, as the work done was not worth half of that. And although Rachel is as sweet as can be, it's clear that they have taken on WAY more than they can handle, and sadly that is detrimental to the customer experience and quality of work. You destroyed 3 tops--two hems and a dart. What's your excuse? You and your mother are dishonest and put the blame on me instead of where it belongs. $55 did not cover the cost of 3 tops and 3 alterations-- I let the cost of two tops go because I couldn't remember how much they cost but I didn't agree to not being reimbursed for the third purple dress that you also shortened too much because you hemmed the back instead of the front where I pinned it. read more

I was looking for a local small business to support in getting my wedding dress altered. I'm so happy I'm working with Rachel in getting this just right! I picked up my dress yesterday and brought it down for a first fitting and to go over what I wanted to have done. Rachel was so attentive and listened to everything I wanted and made some great suggestions, she took tons of time with me and took notes of all the stuff to be done. We set up a time line of what items to expect and when and made it clear I was welcome any time to try the dress on or check in on the progress.
