This location is off high street in Worthington with parking in front and plenty behind the shop with a short walk. Our group brought our own champagne and mixers to make mimosas along with muffins. They allow wine, beer and champagne along with your own food. Not a lot of room to set up a spread but nice enough to have at or near your workstation to sip and graze. The staff is friendly and eager to help. (Shout out to Erin and Stacy) Some people in our group made signs, a tabletop and I opted to make a pillow cover. Each project had a custom stencil that was ordered and made prior to our arrival. What I learned was NOT to move ahead of your project prior to getting guidance or assistance. There could be a possibility you make a mistake or miss a crucial step that messes things up. Don't be afraid to ask for help or get tips and how-to's from the staff. I've taken classes in competing kitchens and the experience here is far superior. Chef Mike has a great model. Diners prep ingredients and then come together to put dishes together while learning tips and techniques. The sheer number of dishes prepared each time is stunning-- between 4 and 6 different recipes each time. I always come away with at least one thing I want to try making at home. And there are plenty of dishes that have made it into our regular repertoire. Some favorites: German pork tenderloin and spaetzel, Cajun blackened fish, Irish bangers and mash, Jamaican jerk chicken and coconut beans and rice to name a few. And some classes are more aspirational. I'll leave it to the experts to make ravioli and ramen, two dishes I have more respect for. I'm better with a knife, I know the basics of building different soups and sauces, I've upped my game on holiday cooking. And mostly, I just enjoy cooking so much more and have developed confidence. Not a cook? No problem. This is a very relaxed setting. You can do as much or as little as you like. You can sip wine and stir a pot of sauce or you can get your hands dirty and knead dough or shell shrimp. Tonight we made bibimbap and banchon. It was delicious. And easy. Wood for framing is available, as well as books and beads, and thread, thread, thread. For threads, there is regular cotton, pearl cotton which is color fast, velvet, a silk and wool combination, sparkly, embroidery floss, soy, bamboo, and even fuzzy. Threads are sold at a pretty decent price. Some are about $2.00. Stitch it yourself canvases aren't just for plain old pictures, they can also be used on purses, make boxes, coasters, Easter baskets with eggs in them and ornaments. Ornaments are a popular selling item at Louise's.
