I felt stuck when it came to updating my dark, tiny dining area, so I hired Katie to help. Katie's suggestions to repaint the walls in a cooler tone, switch the lightbulbs from yellow to daylight, and rotate the table for better flow made a huge difference in how the space feels and functions! I wanted to kick myself for not thinking of these subtleties on my own, but sometimes you just need a new perspective from someone with an eye for design. She also designed a board and batten wall for the room (inspired by the one I noticed in her own home) and put me in touch with a carpenter she trusts. My budget changed, and I decided to DIY the wall, extending the timeline by a couple of months. Katie answered all my questions and never expressed anything but patience and encouragement. With her guidance, my now-husband and I built the feature wall together. When he and I finally finished the project--and somehow still liked each other--Katie followed up by styling the room with items I already owned. My husband and I now have a beautiful dining room that we enjoy. Katie is so gracious and kind, and the whole project came in at around $500.
