used these guys for my friends bday party and honestly took a gamble bc i'd never done sushi catering before and it paid off completely. the platters showed up looking really beautiful, like way more put together than i expected for the price point. rolls were fresh and they had enough variety that even the picky eaters at the party were happy which is honestly the real test. communication before the event was smooth, they responded fast and were clear about everything which i needed bc i was already stressed about other stuff. portions were generous, we had like 20 people and ran out of nothing. few of my friends asked me who i used and i sent the link immediately. only thing is scheduling takes some lead time so dont wait til last minute like i almost did lol. for bay area catering prices this felt really reasonable. will absolutely book again, probably for the holidays already thinking about it read more

I've ordered three times from here, and it's always delicious. The fish is fresh and tender. It's super easy to order on-line and then in a few days, an invoice arrives via email. Pickup always has been straight forward. Just give your name and you're good to go. The parking is street parking. Once I was lucky and found a legal parking spot one block away. Usually we have someone waiting in the car nearby and the other person gets the food. With the sushi trays, you get all that you might need--chopsticks, napkins, and soy sauce. It's easy to communicate via email. I had to change the pickup time, and Ike responded to my email promptly. I'm looking forward to ordering again. read more

This is a long past due review! I have ordered delivery 3 times from Creative Sushi for parties over 30 people in the past five months but just never got around to write a review. The food quality was great considering these were from delivery. The combinations of sushi were all very fresh with nice presentation, and the teriyakis were all delicious. Ike and his wife (sorry, I never got her name) are incredible people. They're always willing to go above and beyond to ensure 100% customer satisfaction. I made an order and mistakenly ordered too much food. I called their number and I caught Ike while he was driving. He promised he'd fix everything once he got back to the restaurant. Lo and behold, he immediately updated the invoice and did everything. The sushi, sashimi, nigiri, and everything are so flavorful. Its freshness and flavor are seriously to die for. Ike is AMAZING! I accidentally ordered online for ASAP instead of the next day...I totally missed it on the confirmation e-mail too, so it was extremely my bad. Ike had already prepped the sushi and fried the croquettes. (I ordered the California Roll Tray + Croquettes + Special Roll Mix Tray B). I didn't realize my mistake until I received a reminder call to pick up my food! I felt terrible- this was for a coworker's bday and he had left for the day already so I couldn't make any rearrangements. He said it was totally fine, and remade the food the next day (the day I wanted, even though it was my bad). Ike greeted me when I walked in and was super nice & friendly. I was looking for sushi for my company meeting of about 13 people and came upon this place through a colleague's recommendation. The website was easy to work with and the selection photos facilitated my choice for which trays I wanted to get. The order was delivered via Uber, which I appreciated because I was able to focus on setting up other aspects of the meeting while getting a live update of the estimated time of delivery, where my driver was, and an immediate text notification when the order arrived. When the order arrived, the sushi required little setup - just pop off the lid and the tray is ready to serve. The order also included chopsticks, paper plates, and napkins. A perk from ordering online is that there is a promotional code "FREETONG" that gives you a free wooden sushi tong for orders over $25. A suggestion for improvement would be for the customer to be able to submit payment directly on the website than via a submission to an invoice email after the order. read more

They arrived on time set up quickly. They provided us with plates and chopsticks and napkins. Also some bamboo tongs. I ordered 2 sushi combo a and c and California rolls and veggie rolls. We also ordered 2 trays of croquettes. The croquettes were also a big hit. Every thing was gone by the end of lunch. The only thing I would say is that one if the guys answering the phone spoke to fast with an accent which made it very difficult for me to understand him. I guess in reality I may have not needed to call him at all since everything could be done online but since I didn't know the company well I had to call to double check and confirm. I have order Special Roll Mix Tray A, Nigiri Deluxe Tray, Sashimi Mix Tray and Croquette Tray. The delivery was supposed to be arrived at 6pm but was arrived at 6:28pm. The party trays description (4-6 pp for Special Roll Mix Tray A, 4-6 pp for Nigiri Deluxe Tray) in the online ordering website made me think what I ordered should be enough for at least 10-12 people but actually they are only enough for 5-6 people. I was so embarrassing in the party and I had to order more food from other restaurant so it took more time to get enough food for visitors. My visitors waited so long because of late delivery and not enough food. I spent $367.35 plus tips for this order, it is not worth for what it provides. read more

True story: The company I work for had a potluck event on a Tuesday of Thanksgiving week. As I didn't know how to cook anything worth bringing to a potluck, I declined to sign up. I haven't written a review in over a month or so because I've been waiting to write my 100th review on something '100th review worthy'. I wanted this review to be on some place epic- with all around qualities such as great food and excellent service. And Creative Sushi Catering- you are the one! It's not easy finding a sushi caterer that serves excellent food and provides such amazing customer service. At my job, I handle most of the firm's catering needs in our office. And lately, I've been wanting to switch things up. Being very careful with my choices I wanted to step outside the boundaries and try sushi. First I placed about two small orders to see how it would play off. So I ordered for about 10-15 people and for both meetings, it was a hit! The sushi was fresh and tasted great. And for this next big event- it was going to be the ultimate test. I placed an order with Creative Sushi for 50 people serving the attorneys in our office. I was so nervous about it but it ended up being such a success! Everyone loved that we changed up the menu, served something different, and that the food was delicious! This place is awesome! I was looking for a place to cater a small work gathering and my husband randomly found this place on yelp. I was a little weary because most catering places are so snobby when it's a small event because it's not worth their time or otherwise, they are too pricey (so then it's worth it). I called this place and they have these preset trays that save you the headache of having to think through what you want. Was even nice enough to sub out some things for me and delivered our meager 2 trays for FREEEEEEE! By then I was excited but I had to keep my expectations in check because hey, it's sushi at like $1 a piece ($1.5 for sashimi) so you never know. Turned out, I didin't have to worry cuz it was so great, we ran out! We had catering from several places including Ike's sandwiches and Anthony's cookies and the only thing that ran out was this sushi. We hired Creative Sushi for a birthday party for 14 people last weekend and are so super happy that we did. Scott, the sushi chef, came to our house (right on time!) and set up a little sushi restaurant in the kitchen complete with a sushi bar and all serving and eating utensils, and he did the break-down and clean-up all on his own. He prepared the sushi on site and let anyone who was brave enough try slicing the fish and making nigiri, rolls and hand rolls. It was a really great experience for everyone. The fish was absolutely delicious, especially the fatty salmon. Yum! I think he gets it from Sushi Hana- have to try that place soon! I hired Ike and his team for my daughter's 21st birthday party. Ike communicated with me along the way and we locked in on the final menu. I ordered over 400 pieces of sushi from nigiri to rolls. He was very easy to work with and is willing to work with you on what you need to make your party a success. He and his partner came over 1 hour before the party started to setup the sushi bar and to get everything ready. Let me say that Ike and the sushi bar was a huge success. Everyone liked the food and service. I enjoyed that everyone was having a great time including my daughter. We blew through the 400 pieces and Ike was resourceful and made BBQ chicken handrolls from the BBQ chicken that I also had as part of the menu. I'm going to name my first son after IKE. He is a saint and miracle worker. I accidentally ordered a huge order for a party of 30 on the Sunday vs Saturday. So 15 minutes before the party began I called Ike asking where they were. He told me I ordered it for the next day. My heart dropped. Really good value for what you get. The trays are beautifully displayed and the nigiri always goes like hot cakes with our regular clients. After doing our research, we chose to work with Scott at Creative Sushi and we were not disappointed. They did an amazing job catering our wedding. They arrived on time and had no issues setting up. When it came time to eat, the chefs prepared plates for my husband and me so that we didn't have to waste time in line; we were able to escape the guests and have our own private dinner moment as husband and wife while enjoying the views of the beautiful bay! I was hesitant to try this place since we usually order from Tokyo Express (and I thought they were mediocre) but Creative Sushi makes them look like Gary Danko. Granted it looks great but it doesn't taste great. Some of the rolls were fishy, the tempura was soggy and they didn't provide any servicing utensils except for a wooden rice spoon. I just thought that for a catering service they would really be outstanding. I would have rated one star but the delivery guy was kind enough to run out and grab an extra soy sauce for us. Will stick with Tokyo Express they're a busy restaurant and have a much better sense of what their clients want/need when it comes to catering (and cheaper). read more
