It is a "seat yourself" kind of place, so we found a seat and waited. And waited. And waited. Finally, the server, who was a very young girl, brought us our menus. She asked what we wanted to drink and, about 10 minutes later, finally brought us our drinks. 10 minutes later still, she finally returned to take our order. It was as if she was the owner's daughter and was working there against her wishes. She was not pleasant, competent or speedy. Aside from her, the place was crawling with flies. It was disgusting. We finally got our orders. I had ordered the chicken fried steak with soft scrambled eggs, hash browns and sourdough toast. It's pretty bad when the toast was the best thing on the plate. The chicken fried steak was clearly a frozen patty that was thrown into the fryer. The hash browns were dry and flavorless and didn't seem like they were prepared to order. And, clearly the chef has never heard of SOFT scrambled eggs because they were hard as a rock (and completely inedible). The other members of our party received a slightly better experience - the Denver omelet was "decent" and the pancakes were really good. We ordered coffee and never once received a refill (nor did we get any ice water). When we went to pay, to add insult to injury, they have the nerve of charging a 4% credit card fee. As someone who's run restaurants, let me tell you - this is a tax-deductible cost of doing business that should NEVER be passed on to the customer. So, if you're in Craig, you could do a lot better for your meal. It's unfortunate because I love supporting small mom and pop operations.
