Posted entry fee is $15 (day pass). But when you ONLY accept card, and the actual charge is $16.50, then your posted entry fee is incorrect. Don't tell me it's $15 and then charge my card $16.50. Facilities are decent. Shade is available for stadium seating and bleachers. Parking has improved since last summer. Clean bathrooms. Easy access from I-435. Concessions not always open, and it seems like the only staff present on Saturday/Sunday might be teens. read more

Nice Fields. The parking can be difficult. The variety of offerings at the concession stand is great, but I purchased a slushy for $5 today that tasted like it had been made with ice that had been in the bin since last year's season. On the other hand, the fountain soda tasted fine. Just beware. read more

Whether it's the between-innings merriment, like kids' races or other creative games, or the sponsored placards adorning the outfield, no two minor-league ballfields are the same. Legends Field has that same unique elegance and has hosted minor league summer ball for the past two decades. Whether it was the bygones of T-Bones baseball or the current (re-)incarnation of the Kansas City Monarchs, having a summer tenant offers families and baseball lovers an evening entertainment option. Sure, this isn't 'big time' baseball, but they still play the game with bases spaced 90' apart, so maybe it's just the laundry the players are wearing that makes it different. Good seats are generally available and all of the stadium seating is seat-backs (no splintered benches). The patio & berm beyond left field allows for more of a picnic atmosphere or maybe even an expanse of grass where littles can play safely. Concessions are located on both sides of the concourse, featuring some local goodies, and if you just fancy an adult beverage, then there is even dedicated space just for that. A beer & a dog seem to make baseball even sweeter, IMO. The concourse is sprinkled with homage to some of the past Monarchs from Negro League days, such as Buck O'Neill and the lightning-fast Cool Papa Bell. Honestly, if you aren't familiar with Buck AND you live in the KC area, then life under that rock must be comfortable. These guys, like ol' Satchel Paige, were LEGENDS, and you can see why the place carries the moniker 'Legends Field'. Parking is easy and plentiful and if time allows, then the Legends shopping area offers lots of eating (and even shopping!) options. Tickets are easy to come by and affordable, making this a viable opportunity to share with family & friends. You might even have a shot at a foul ball or maybe even a moonshot that clears the fences (300' down the LF line is crazy, but so is 411' to left-center), so look sharp and stay in the action. Baseball is a summer pastime and this is great place to take part.

I'm happy to say, the field is in good shape and Loyola Park is a great place to watch a ballgame. If you're wanting an up close view, there's a small grandstand of bleachers directly behind home plate, in between the dugouts. I like sitting on the hill that begins behind home plate and flows down the line behind the first base dugout. Judging by my fellow fans, it's a pretty popular space. Feel free to bring your own fold out chair or blanket. You can see most of the field and you're also close enough to hear the infield chatter. A small concession stand is available. Bathrooms are located underneath the grand stands. The playing field is natural grass and dirt with mostly symmetrical outfield dimensions.

To place that memorial with beautiful green space is a nod to how Kansas City makes the most of its public real estate. Park in any number of lots or even find a spot on one of the side streets. At the game I went to, decibel levels were around 119-120, so that seems to track. The feeing, energy, camaraderie, and passion you feel when you enter here cannot be compared to anywhere else. The Fieldhouse has some structural flaws- mostly because the field house holds up to 16,000 people and needs some updates to allow for all the sold out games. Perhaps more than one stairwell would be a good place to start?! Concessions abound here at the Fieldhouse as do the KU merchandise stores- Rally House- can be found in multiple levels here. The seats of the stadium are not premium as the majority are bench seats with no backs. While you can rent a cushioned seat, you end up standing most of the game anyway, so really not worth the additional cost. There really aren't obstructed views here from any seat-unless a tall person has a seat in front of you. There are very limited hand rails to use in the Fieldhouse to help accommodate these views. The Fieldhouse has a museum as well which commemorates the Jayhawk greats in all realms of sports. This is a great way to spend some time before the game starts. Doors usually open an hour before the game. It's a really fun and energetic place to experience. Definitely get a ticket (if you can) to a game. Take heed and beware the Phog!

They always have plenty of parking and there's portable toilets throughout the park. I also enjoy the trail that runs along the river. It's paved, pretty flat, and maybe 3 ish miles so it's great for everyone. They have a few other trails that are less paved and go through more of the wooded area if you want a little more ruggedness. They also have playgrounds and shelters. I haven't confirmed this, but I heard from my friend that the artist that made the sculptures (some of which are interactive for children), also made the rabbits that go on display on the Plaza every Easter, which honestly makes a lot of sense given how they look. To me, it just feels charming, and I love that it's something that sets this place apart from other parks in the area.

The nature sanctuary is on 12th St. and the connecting street is East St. Once we figured out where it was, we took our time on one of the trails I believe there are four trail options and the longest is 1.6 mile loop and the second is a 1 mile loop and the other ones are less than that. But it is a beautiful nature sanctuary with lots of greenery, woods, streams, water falls, and benches to enjoy the scenery. No pets are allowed since it is a nature sanctuary. There is a covered area off of one of the hikes that we went to that leads to some picnic tables. There's also several picnic tables by the parking lot. There are also bathrooms near the parking lot. The parking lot is next to the track and field belonging to the college. We really enjoyed our slow, meandering walk/hike and will definitely go back.

The trails are well maintained, and while there are some inclines at certain points, the trail is easy to follow and not strenuous. I love the various view points where you can stop and really appreciate natural beauty, like the waterfall or the butterfly pass. It feels like this is in its own little world despite being so close to the city. Be aware that the parking lot is pretty small so at peak times it may be hard to park.
