In short? I'm very impressed. It needs a bit more work, but it's still an excellent facility. With some love, it could be the city's best. The first thing you'll notice is that this park is HUGE. As per the usual, there are separate areas for both large and small dogs, but both seem equal in size. While both sides share an entrance, they jut off in different directions, long rectangles. I feel like the shape encourages the dogs to be more active. I have two dogs, one who is hyper and insane, and one who is slowing down a bit but still quirky. Both were running more than I'd seen in quite some time. Knowing I'd have sleepy dogs back at the house, I was very happy. The setting is pretty nice as well! To the south you have the river, and to the north, scenic hills and bluffs. You're in a remote location, and it certainly feels like it. It's pretty cool that I can get here in 15 minutes from downtown. My only complaints are of the type that are usual for dog parks. First, there's not enough grass and my dogs came back pretty muddy. I think it just needs a chance to grow in more, or they need to plant a bit more hearty of a variety. Second, they need a better place for the humans. A basic picnic table would do, but the plastic chairs they currently have are just blown over and laying in random places, dirty. It's not inviting. Still, those are fairly minor complaints. I'm a definite fan of what they've built in this dog park. From this dog owner, thank you!

Found this park just this week, didn't know it was exist for 2 years already. I constantly walked at English Landing Park and parked my car at Farmers Market but saw cars just in and out from 1 lane bridge a lot and wondering why they drove over there? I wasn't had enough time to check it out then so went home checked online found that is a DOG park. Today I went over to check it out but found the sign at entrance showed Platte Landing Park only so I was confused. I parked my car and took a walk along the river bend which was a very nice walking/biking trail. At a little over 1/2 mile I found the dog park!! Yes, there is a dog park "inside" of PLP! Now it all make sense, yes we have Platte Landing Park and also have Platte Landing Dog Park. PLP have a dog park, a 2 mile walking trail, boardwalk, wetland, boat ramp and is ADA accessible. It open 5:00 a.m. to Midnight, everybody can come for free, no admission and parking fee. At PLP dogs are welcome to walk with their owner but must be on leash and under control all the time. Dogs can be run free in dog park anytime. I walked just 1 lap today due to on and off walking, took pictures and wondering around to explore the area, even checked out the restroom by the dog park which just cleaned by park worker, very nice/clean. Both PLP & ELP(English Landing Park) has their own unique vibe, you need to come and feel it yourself. I will combine both parks, walk along the riverside than the railroad side in the future.

    Tuck loves it here!

With large, fenced in areas for both small and large dogs, this park is one of my pooch's favorites! I like the views as well as the water, trash, and poop bags available for my dog. We've found the best time to go is between 5-7 as there are lots of friendly dogs to play with. They've just recently planted some trees so there will eventually be shaded areas.

Not a bad dog park, but not too popular from my experience. Plenty of space though, and water for the dogs. Overall an okay park.

The nature sanctuary is on 12th St. and the connecting street is East St. Once we figured out where it was, we took our time on one of the trails I believe there are four trail options and the longest is 1.6 mile loop and the second is a 1 mile loop and the other ones are less than that. But it is a beautiful nature sanctuary with lots of greenery, woods, streams, water falls, and benches to enjoy the scenery. No pets are allowed since it is a nature sanctuary. There is a covered area off of one of the hikes that we went to that leads to some picnic tables. There's also several picnic tables by the parking lot. There are also bathrooms near the parking lot. The parking lot is next to the track and field belonging to the college. We really enjoyed our slow, meandering walk/hike and will definitely go back.

The trails are well maintained, and while there are some inclines at certain points, the trail is easy to follow and not strenuous. I love the various view points where you can stop and really appreciate natural beauty, like the waterfall or the butterfly pass. It feels like this is in its own little world despite being so close to the city. Be aware that the parking lot is pretty small so at peak times it may be hard to park.

They have it divided into small and large dog with lots of open space and even a water pump when the weather is warm. They always have plenty of parking and there's portable toilets throughout the park. I also enjoy the trail that runs along the river. It's paved, pretty flat, and maybe 3 ish miles so it's great for everyone. They have a few other trails that are less paved and go through more of the wooded area if you want a little more ruggedness. They also have playgrounds and shelters. Plus they do various festivals and activities throughout the year. Definitely stop by and bring a pup!

A few things to know: 1. Kayaking or Paddleboarding- you must have a permit (sticker) displayed on your craft. You purchase this at the marina office - and they are closed Tuesday/ Wednesday. It's $60- season. We hear they are strict about enforcing this. The launch spot is very close to the marina office- and is amazing. The launch point is zero entry and it has a parking lot- so you don't have to drag your craft very far. It's great! We kayaked on a Saturday and only saw a couple of boats. We love the calm quiet water and the beautiful nature experience. 2. Hiking- there are over 10 miles of hiking trails around the lake. They are maintained by Urban Trail Co- and their site is where they post trail closings (they are closed after big rains). The trails are pretty hilly-and we have been using them for Colorado Backpacking training. It's perfect! Bring bug spray- and I wouldn't recommend going alone since they are very isolated in the woods. There don't seem to be clearly marked trail heads- we parked at the spillway parking lot or the shelters seem to trail entry points as well. Go get outside! Enjoy! ‍
