Went for dinner on a Saturday night. Glad to see there was no wait. We were seated immediately and greeted by our server Mike, who took great care of us. The place is a small modest meeting spot for locals and Air Force retirees from 20 years ago. Seemed everyone new each other. In a good way. I ordered the lumpia appetizer; shrimp dinner with turnip greens, grits and hush puppies; and the soggy bottom dessert. The food was decent, but the stars of the night were definitely the soggy bottom dessert and the canned pickles - which turned out to be made by the owner - a sharp 86 year old doll who was hostessing and running the front of the house with nods and points to the young wait staff. I don't know if it was good enough for me to return, but if I did, I would dare leave with a jar of those pickles! read more

I lucked out and happened to be passing through when they were open. Be sure to call before coming over, they have tricky hours. I walked a mile to the place from a nearby RV camp (the last 1/4 mile was sketchy, with no shoulder and very speedy drivers). Arrived to see a well populated but spacious parking area; locals apparently flock to the place, always a good sign. I was seated quickly, and the folks there were super friendly and fun to talk to. After asking what they recommended I ordered a combo of fried catfish filets and fried fresh (vs popcorn) shrimp, with a side of cheese grits and coleslaw. Came with a couple hush puppies too. All were delicious, and very filling. Iced tea (1/2 and 1/2 sweet and plain) was great, and they gave me a cup to go when I left. Great experience all around! read more

I'm a huge fan of whole catfish. The service was efficient and very friendly. We ordered and taste was good but my only complaint is the catfish are so small with very little meat and because the fish are so small and skinny the meat was a bit dry (which I think is beyond their control. I'd rather spend $10 on a whole huge catfish than $5 on a very small, (6 inch) or give me the choice. The fries and hush puppies were delicious, and if you only eat catfish filets I do not know what those were like. I know catfish restaurants are far and few anymore but someone's got to be serving larger fish? read more

They're only open Thursday through Saturday 3 weeks a month so check their schedule but the food and service are worth the effort. I grew up eating fresh catfish on the bone and this is the first place in a long time that I found someone who even offered it but also prepared it like it should be. A my grandmama would say,"Shut yo mouth." This place is as good as it gets for fresh catfish. Not sure what they call them in GA, but we call them sharpies in FL. And the are delicious. Get some sweet tea and some greens on the side and some hush puppies and you are good to go. The only slight negative is the opening salad and having to get there at 4pm to avoid the rush. read more

This isn't for the restaurant, but for the fruit stand in the parking lot. There were Lane Peaches, Lots of juicy watermelon available and other fresh fruits and vegetables for purchase. All in all, it was a nice stop, a country mile off of 75. I;m glad I made a stop! read more

The Yelpers on here are spot on about their hours....Thursday-Saturday every first and third weekends of the month. They also have a Facebook page! I came here at 4pm on a Saturday and they weren't busy but the people started piling in when we left at 5! Service is great, food is delicious and reasonable priced. Such good catfish!! We are here temporarily on a project and four this place while going to buy peaches. We decided to give it a try and get several orders to go. We got catfish filets and chicken fingers. They both were delicious! The hush puppies were great too as were the baked potatoes. Apparently they have an actual restrauant so locals might want to try that. Seemed like it was run by a family. Very nice folks! Food was so good! read more

Rule #1: Know the schedule. They are only open the first and third weekends of the month, Thursday through Saturday. Check the Facebook page to make certain. Rule #2: If you are dining in, be prepared to wait a bit. But that's OK. It's a very relaxing setting - plenty of space to sit outside or stroll the grounds. We usually get takeout, but we enjoy dining in as well. Everything is fresh and well cooked. Fish is flaky with just the right amount of cornmeal in the coating. Shrimp are large and succulent. Best catfish I've had in a while! My husband and I go to Perry once a year for a work event.and discovered Creekside last year while searching Yelp for a place to eat. We made the short drive and was a little hesitant at first due to the line. Well I'm glad we waited because it was definitely worth it! The catfish, slaw, and sweet tea all hit the spot. I haven't had fried catfish that good in a long time. We went back again this year and it was just as good. They are only open two weekends a month I believe, and we lucked out that they were open the times we were in the area (make sure you check their hours before making a special trip ). The restaurant stank, the hostess was rude, the prices were high, and the food was disgusting. If this sounds like your kind of place then by all means visit Creekside Catfish. The "star" of the show - the catfish - was fishy tasting, smelled bad, and had a chemical taste to it. The coleslaw was the worst that I've tasted in my life, and the fries that accompanied this meal unfit for human consumption were nothing special. The lone bright spot was the salmon which actually was quite nicely prepared, large and very flavorful. However that wasn't nearly enough to save this dining choice disaster that I was ashamed to have taken my family to. For the rude hostess, yes I saw that there were people already waiting for tables (why? Run!) but it should not be a problem for a customer to ask you to estimate how long the wait for an open table might be. Don't worry, I won't be back. read more

A humble restaurant setting with stellar southern style seafood, personable and friendly staff. I've been eating at Creekside since I was about five years old and it's been a family favorite for years. As soon as you're seated, everyone is presented with a small bowl of their home made bread and butter pickles, absolutely delicious and they can be purchased in mason jars upon leaving by the register. The menu is moderately priced and the portions are filling. Though known for my personal favorite, their catfish, the shrimp is incredibly fresh and delicious as well. The only downside is that they are only open the first weekend of the month. Typically Thursday-Saturday and in those 3 days the restaurant stays packed open to close. Make sure to visit them and get there before 5. There's not another place like this in the area and it's so worth it. read more

This was my first time eating here and the last. I dont know if it was because we got carry out or what but it was super nasty and not worth 49.75. The popcorn shrimp was breaded and very hard. Thought they were mini hush puppies....never tasted shrimp and the hush puppies were hard and sweet as sugar. Based on its limited hours, I thought this place must be amazing. How can a restaurant survive on hours like that? Also, there was a forty minute wait, so I assumed again it must be amazing. Well I was wrong. This place has the ambiance of a soup kitchen. There is no creek that I can see, so don't come expecting to be next to a creek or having a water view. I had the grilled shrimp. While good, I can make it at home and it would've been just as good. The sides were nothing spectacular. Also, the dessert (had a weird name, can't recall) was not worth the calories. With German chocolate cake and nuts, I express something delicious. We left most of it on the plate. I just don't get the hype. Our server was very nice though but sadly forgetful. read more
