Hands down the best place ever! I was seen by Dr Mark Young yesterday April 19,18 for a Root Canal. I had anxiety cause i don't numb so well. Dr Young reassured me that i would be ok and i shouldn't feel a thing. He and his staff (Lisa) took good care of me. I felt NOTHING! I love this place. I felt safe and respected. Referred by another doctor to go in for a possible root canal. The staff was very efficient, pleasant & extremely helpful! Dr. Zhuk was my doctor. Couldn't ask for a better experience!! He was very informative in helping me make a crucial decision! His demeanor put me at ease right away. He wanted to make sure there was no pain & if there was, not to hesitate to let him know immediately. I've been through at least 20 procedures over my lifetime that were more involved than cavities, and this was the most relaxed pain free experience I've ever had! This place is SOOO good. I didn't feel any pain or discomfort, besides my own horrible gag reflex. AJ and Scott were kind and considerate of that though and helped me work through the X-rays. They didn't make me feel rushed and AJ helped me by distracting me through them and taking my mind off of it. She's really good at comforting people! Scott was amazing too! He made me feel he really knew what he was doing by explaining everything and being very nice. I didn't even feel anything when he was numbing my mouth. I was traveling on business and found I had a failed root canal. I was in extreme pain and flew back into sacramento on a friday afternoon.Dr young saw me at 5 pm, realized immediately what the problem was, he was willing to do the procedure that night, it was a difficult redo of a root canal, he did not finish until 6:30 and he was so positive and professional that I will never forget he and his teams professional demeanor and compassion. Service was adequate, but they have not issued me a refund since January 2019. I called the 1st time 1-3-19 & was told the checks are mailed the 1st week of the month. On 2-11-19 I had not received my refund & called again & was informed I would get my refund "as soon as possible". I asked the receptionist if your office would accept payment as soon as possible. I went for a consultation and immediate root canal, but Dr. Mark Young advised me that there was only a 50/50 chance of success due to the "poor job" of my previous endodontist. He clearly showed me on my X-rays the mistake the other guy made. I elected not to proceed with the root canal and will have it extracted. Due to Dr. Young's honesty, he was left with a gap in his schedule, and I'm sorry for that. He is extremely kind, professional, and knowledgeable. I recently moved to the area. Dr. Young welcomed me in to his office for an emergency old-root-canal-gone-bad fix. I wasn't even his patient yet. His staff stayed late to accommodate me and take care of the emergency. Quite frankly, they had most of the office already shut down for the night and they promptly and kindly started all systems back up again for me. They took care of the problem with ease. There were some potential risks to my tooth because of the initial bad root canal work that was done by a previous dentist. Dr. Young explained those risks gently and compassionately. He was able to save my tooth, fix the damage, and keep the infection from getting out of control. I highly recommend Dr. Young and his staff. I'm very grateful for them. read more

I had a toothache that another endodontist wouldn't treat because x-rays didn't show a problem. But I was in pain and considering having the tooth pulled (it had had a root canal 11 years prior). My dentist referred me to Dr. Young who did treat me, finding bacterial growth in the canal. What I especially appreciate about Dr. Young is that he listened to me, explained the possible outcomes, and allowed me to make an informed decision on how to proceed. I was willing to take the risk that re-treatment might not solve the problem, and he supported me in that decision. As it turns out, it was exactly the right thing to do. WOW is all I can say about the entire experience at the Creekside Office where I saw Dr. Mark. I never imagined leaving an office after having a root canal and actually feeling more at peace than before I went it. The office decor and peaceful feeling along with the welcoming staff put me at ease immediately. The paperless record keeping system, hi-tech equipment, fabulous view of nature from the totally comfortable dental chair along with the Christian music playing in the backround were all refreshing! Dr. Mark is kind and compassionate and was very thorough in his explanation of the procedure both before and during the actual root canal. The anesthetic was almost pain free, I have more discomfort from getting my teeth cleaned! He was born to do what he does for a living. I kid you not...my first root canal was a pain free breeze and I owe it all to Dr. Mark and his amazing kind staff. I had a root canal several years back that was hands down the most painful experience of my life. I have been told many times over they years that I metabolize pain killers quickly...and as a result it generally takes me 3 or even 4 times as many shots as most people. When I found out I was in need of another root canal I decided this time to go to a specialist as opposed to having my general dentist (who generally is great) torture me. He recommended Mark Young. The office was clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I explained my issues with getting numb and felt listened to and empathized with. I felt that Mark was taking time with me and wasn't juggling so much that the care suffered in any way. He didn't start working on me until he KNEW I was completely numb. I can't say the same for all of the dentists that have come before! He explained everything as it happened. He was clear on what my choices were. I can't imagine the experience being any better than it was. Mark is as good as they come in my opinion. Though I hope to never need another root canal...I know I'll have excellent care if I do. read more

I went to Dr. Mark for a root canal. I was debating between my dentist and a endodontist. I was informed that you really need a specialist for a root canal and Dr. Mark was recommended to me. I talked to Dr. Mark on the phone and he was very informative and concerned. Everything was perfect regarding the scheduling, all of the office staff were very nice and Dr. Mark did an amazing job. I have had two root canals done by Dr. Young since moving to Folsom! That says a lot! I will do just about anything to avoid going to the dentist! My childhood experiences led me to believe that pain was to be expected at each and every visit. This was especially true if you were already in pain before you arrived. Dr. Young and his office staff are wonderful! Everything was explained and all my questions were answered before I even had to ask. I was given reassurance and comfort and the procedure was completed very quickly. I can honestly say my anxiety level was reduced by 90% (I will always have some) at my second visit. Starting with the phone call to make the appointment the girl on the phone was so kind and had a bunch of open time. She was super helpful with my insurance information and even had great things to say about the dentist that referred me. When we showed up the front desk girl was so kind and personable. She talked to me about how much she enjoyed the doctor I would be seeing. They have juice water and coffee and the cutest Christmas decorations! It felt like walking into a very nice persons house! Dr. Young is incredible! He was so sweet and patient with my nerves and understanding of them too. His numbing shot was wonderful and almost painless! He was quick and efficient and answered all of my questions thoroughly. His assistant was so kind and helpful with the steps of what was happening and with my after care. the night before my appointment to be evaluated for a root canal, i tried hard to talk myself out of needing to go. i had a root canal about 20 years ago that was truly an awful experience, i was in a lot of pain going in, the team was not empathetic and the procedure was grueling... and today? after my root canal yesterday from dr. mark young and his most capable partner, nicole? when i say, "i'd rather have a root canal," i will be giggling inside! nicole listened carefully, provided clear instructions and demonstrated care while clearly competently carrying out her responsibilities to complete the initial assessment and then finish the treatment process. dr. mark young clearly explained his diagnosis and answered my questions thoroughly. and he and nicole did not mess around once my mouth was staged open - they communicated seamlessly, were efficient, and finished so much sooner than i anticipated. i write this on the first morning thereafter, so pleased that i no longer have a rush of pain drinking anything cold nor pain with pressure on that tooth. thanks team! i hope not to need another of these, but if i do, i'll be baaaaaack! read more

It is always an unfortunate occurrence to need to visit an endodontics professional. However my appointment 2 days after Christmas was an incredible experience. First, everything was state of the art; from the check in process, to the 3-D imaging scan needed for the most accurate view of my tooth, to the "root canal" procedure "under the microscope." My Dr, Mark Young, was very informative during the entire time - what we're doing, why we're doing it, and what to expect next. Literally 30 minutes from Novocaine to walking out the door. I was scheduled for the consultation and root canal within 2 weeks with the help of the friendly and knowledgeable staff at Creekside. Dr. Camfield (filling in at the Folsom office) did the consultation and made me feel at ease, answered all my questions, and even drew me a picture to explain the root canal procedure. Dr. Mark Young and his assistant completed the root canal which was a as great of an experience as you could hope for! I've never had a root canal before so I was nervous, but there was nothing to be nervous about. I had no pain and felt completely confident in his work. I've been to Dr. Young's office several times and have always been impressed by the practioners, the technology, and how well the office is managed. Today, after a referral from my periodontist, I found out that Dr. Janian is awesome too. After state-of-the-art 3D imaging and a thorough consult which clearly explained the probabilities and risks along with sound reasoning, I got a diagnosis that wasn't what I hoped for, but which I'm sure was the best decision. The treatment here is top notch--including the dental assistants who know more than you might think--and so is the business side of it. They've always handled my insurance fairly and efficiently and strive to accomodate my scheduling needs. read more

I got a root canal here a couple months ago on #19. I didn't have infection in my tooth yet but the cavity was touching the top of my root. After multiple opinions from different endodontists and dentists, I didn't trust anyone to touch my tooth. Dr. Young was not covered under my insurance but when I heard he went to harvard, and had my first consultation with him I was sold. The level of his customer service, knowledge, and thorough explanation of what to expect was what I had been needing. They gave me the novocaine shots and after a few minutes I was totally numb. Then they started, the whole procedure was painless, and took maybe 30-45 minutes (with some waiting in between for things to set on my tooth). I was so impressed at his work. I went immediately to the bathroom afterwards to look in the mirror expecting to see my tooth looking gruesome, but it looked innocuous enough, and couldn't even really tell anything got done. After the procedure I felt almost no pain. Keep in mind my root canal tooth was fairly routine, and did not have any severe complications yet. Later that day I took an ibuprofen and iced my cheek as a preventative measure. After that I was totally fine and felt no pain at all. Next stop, back to my regular dentist for a crown. I had my first root canal today by Dr. Young. He is an amazing Endodontist! He is compassionate and explains everything prior to starting the procedure so that you feel more comfortable. Everyone who works in his office is so nice and the atmosphere is relaxing. The root canal procedure was nothing like I had originally anticipated. It took less than an hour to complete and with the novocaine injections, I did not feel any pain during the procedure.
