I originally wrote the attached review in 2015 after having three molars extracted by Dr. Olsen. More than 10 years later and after multiple additional treatments with Dr. Olsen, I still stand by every word. In fact, I'm currently planning for major dental treatment and have no interest in going anywhere else. Dr. Olsen and his staff have consistently provided the most skilled, compassionate, professional and patient centered care I've ever experienced. When you're facing something as significant as extractions and implants, trust matters and this is a practice I trust completely. I don't give five star reviews lightly. Dr. Powell was amazing, very clear, professional and responsive. The assistants were awesome too. I had major work done, and they made me feel very comfortable. My only suggestion for improvement is better follow up post surgery. I had to call twice to get a call back the day after my surgery. I also felt the "gatekeeping" by the receptionist was over the top. I bascially had to ask three times to speak to the doctor after my surgery. Still giving 5 stars because patient care and results are what matter. Some retraining of reception staff would be appreciated though. read more

We chose to have our daughters' wisdom teeth removed a little later at age 19. Dr. Olson explained she had 4 impacted wisdom teeth and 2 were very close to her nerve, but was confident that procedure would go smooth. She chose to be fully sedated. Her experience was great. Dr. Olson and his team are pro's and everything felt routine. We were prepped on what to expect. The office thinks of everything, she was provided topical numbing cream in advance so the IV wouldn't hurt and sent home with an ice bandage wrap which really minimized the swelling to virtually none. An added surprised was that office took our Delta Dental PPO insurance at 90% which made our out of pocket expense much less than I thought it would be. Dr. Olsen made my fear of the dentist completely go away ! i have the worst anxiety to the point i avoid getting work done in my mouth and As soon as i got into the office they were so kind and patient with me even when i was sitting there just crying , they answered all my questions and were comforting me. The Staff members were amazing as well as the dental assistants helping during my procedure made it so easy i felt like i was in good hands ! I had a surgery to get a cyst removed from my mouth (which was the scariest thing ever) and it went by so fast and easy especially with the reassurance of me being okay and telling me i'm in the best hands ! i really recommend going here for oral surgery / dental work it was a Fast and painless experience thanks to Dr. Olsen ! i'm back to normal the day after feeling no pain at all ! read more

I had to shop around a little bit until I found an oral surgeon. I felt comfortable with. I had complete confidence in this office from my first visit. I had a tricky, quadruple wisdom tooth removal, under local anesthesia.I have curved roots, but they got them out quickly and effectively with very minimal discomfort if any at all. Dr. Olsen was capable confident and kind. The staff and surgical assistant were all so friendly knowledgeable and caring. They were so patient with my husband on the phone, when he called back quite a few times to ask questions that I had forgotten the answers to , or when he had a concern. They even called back when they saw that they missed our call. They all just went above and beyond. I highly recommend. I had a bad toothache and got a referral from my dentist to Dr. Powell for a molar extraction. They squeezed me in and were very kind to me. Everyone in the office were pleasant and sensitive to my pain. The assistant was a very comforting and they offered me water as my mouth was dry. It was quick and easy with no pain. What a difference i felt immediatly. Dr. Powel called me the next day to check in on me and i was completely in shock how caring all of them are. I needed an emergency tooth extraction due to an infection. They fit me in on the same day and got it done. Dr Olsen is professional and does excellent work. I was in for the removal of all 4 wisdom teeth recently and I cannot begin to tell you how amazing my whole experience was. Dr. Olsen is a fabulous surgeon and his staff is absolutely fantastic. All of my questions were answered with care and compassion for my extreme fear of needles. From the minute I walked into Dr. Olsen's office I knew I was in good hands. The front office staff are friendly and introduced themselves. Everyone I encountered introduced themselves. Since I work in the medical field I know self- introductions are often skipped over as unnecessary. It is actually very important . Dr.Olsen himself took time to carefully explain my dental problem. He then carefully examined my teeth and discussed the care plan. He is a very kind, gentle and understanding doctor. I had complete confidence in him after this initial consult. As for the actual procedure it couldn't have gone better. I elected to have local anesthesia . The injections were painless and enough time was given for my surgical area to be thoroughly numb. I never felt any pain the entire procedure. Even more important Dr. Olsen frequently checked in with me to make sure I was comfortable. My post-op care was explained thoroughly. Interestingly I was prepared for pain and swelling and I honestly never felt any pain. As a final note , I had been to another oral surgeon for a consult before going to Dr. Olsen . Every positive I have mentioned here was a negative with the first surgeon. I was so fortunate to end up in Dr. Olsen's office ! read more

I was referred to Dr. Gregory Olsen to remove my impacted upper wisdom teeth (both of them.) This year 2014 was weeks away from ending and Christmas and new year celebrations were in full swing. My insurance was about to expire and I was worried that no one would be able to schedule me in...please see review of family dentist Dr.Engel who referred me....my experience was WOW! First impression, they not only managed to schedule me on same day consultation after seeing my family dentist, but they scheduled me for surgery the following week! Second, walking into the office is like walking into a cabin resort in Lake Tahoe. Comfy seats, fire place, and your choice of hot tea, coffee, or chocolate from a mug made by the keurig machine in the waiting area. (Am I here for a spa treatment or a dreaded dental appointment?Heehee) Friendly, professional, and CLASSY assistants greet and happily work here. Third, what a likable, professional, and genuinely, wonderful oral surgeon! My check up, and then following surgery was a truly five star experience! They gave me sun glasses for the bright lights, a warm fuzzy blanket, explained kindly every step they took, and the anesthesia hit me like a rock! Hahaha! The after packages were top notch too! A custom made ice pack, chap stick for cracked lips, and a jumba juice gift card were my wonderful treats along with the regular and common info after a procedure like this. I should have come here to get my lower wisdom teeth pulled years ago. But am so honored and so very happy that Dr.Olsen and his team were the ones who saved me from my upper impacted wisdom teeth! I was referred to Dr. Greg Olsen from my orthodontist for tori removal. Tori are bone growths below the tongue or on the roof of the mouth. I was very nervous thinking how much pain their might be from oral surgery and having the tissue cut away from my gums and the removal of the bone. But I was totally surprised by no pain whatsoever in my mouth or gums. It's been 3 weeks now and all is good. The only pain I did have was a muscle in the front of my neck probably from the position they had me in. But once I took some extra strength Tylenol I it was gone. So highly recommend this type of surgery if you need it and definitely recommend Dr. Olsen of Folsom Oral Surgery & Implant. read more

This place is high class to say the least. The facilities are clean, welcoming, and very chic. All of the staff, front desk to Dr. Olson himself, are awesome and helpful. I was referred to FOSIC by a co-worker. She told me about her amazing experience and so I set up an appointment. It was a simple phone call to set up an appointment and I was in only 2 days later. My x-rays were done in a matter of seconds, NO uncomfortable plastic shoved in my mouth like other places. The dental assistant was very friendly, she explained everything, asked me if I wanted water and all. Dr. Olson was extremely pleasant and genuinely seemed to care about his work. The procedure was so fast and painless I was honestly shocked. They even gave me a warm blanket beforehand to make me more comfortable. Once I was done I was given full explanation about how to take my meds and they also gave me a take home bag with everything I needed to recover. LOVE this place! I had a cracked tooth that needed to be extracted, so my dentist referred me to Dr. Olson. He was away on vacation at the time so my dentist told me he could refer me to someone else, but if it was him we would wait for Dr. Olson. So I did and it was totally worth it. Dr. Olson was very friendly and knowledgable (I wanted to be a dentist so I'm picky). They offered IV sedation which would've been great but I had to drive so I did nitrous instead. Before the procedure they gave me oral antibiotics and they covered me in a warm soft blanket which was an excellent touch. The extraction and bone graft was super fast and painless. They sent me home with an antibiotic mouthwash, a script for antibiotics and painkillers, aftercare instructions, and an icepack that wraps around your head so you don't have to hold it in place. My healing went great! Overall I am extremely happy with the experience. They treated me wonderfully. Next I will be going back to get a dental implant placed in a couple weeks and I'm confident he will do a great job! read more

Excellent service...from the front desk receptionist (Victoria) to the back office dental assistants. Everyone is personable and adds to the overall relaxed and calm atmosphere. (Trust me...this is what you want when you are seeing an oral surgeon!). I was in some pain and the Oral Surgeon I was referred to couldn't even see me for a consult for almost 3 weeks! Dr Olsen's office arranged for me to be seen later the same day I called!! (Impressed!) Dr Olsen himself is not only very nice, but presents himself in a calm confident manner, so your first inclination is to trust him. You won't be disappointed! I was scared out of my wits but Dr Olsen and his assistants made me feel calm and as comfortable as possible. (I was having oral surgery after all. The only way I was going to be totally calm was if I had several very stiff drinks!). Surgery went extremely well and fast. I was assured Dr Olsen himself answers all his after hours calls. We chose Dr. Olsen to remove our daughter's wisdom teeth. The office itself is very modern, clean and comfortable, and the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. They provide extensive pre and after-care information, and help you feel really confident in the care they provide. They have a well-oiled practice and it shows through everything they do. Dr. Olsen and his staff conducted a very thorough pre-op consultation, and we knew exactly what to expect. They sent her home with an oral rinse, homeopathic recovery methods, and even a special cream to apply to her arm 1 hour before the procedure, so she would not feel any pain from the placement of her IV! Additionally, they provided my daughter with her prescriptions PRIOR to her procedure, which was extremely helpful and convenient. I had a couple of concerns the morning of the procedure, and made the mistake of not checking in with him or his staff. They are extremely attentive and I missed an opportunity to allow them a chance to respond. If you choose Dr. Olsen, and have any questions or concerns, just ask him. He is so happy to address whatever is on your mind. My daughter came home with a special ice pack and a Jamba Juice gift card, and her recovery has been flawless! I was terrified to get my wisdom teeth out. I made appointments to get my wisdom teeth removed multiple times in the past at different places & always chickened out last minute. I am 31 years old now & I started having pain and getting infections around my wisdom teeth so I had no choice but to remove my wisdom teeth. I wish I could give more than 5 stars!!! Everything about a really crappy experience was vastly improved by everyone at FOSIC. My 16yo began having excoriating mouth pain and was told it was wisdom teeth extraction time....now of course this all happened a week before she was supposed to go to Hawaii. FOSIC got her in quickly and had her set for surgery the next day. They were so great with making her as comfortable as possible and making her feel secure during the extraction process. After care was so easy with their detailed plan and guidelines and the calls checking on her after (even from Dr. Olsen himself) were a pleasant surprise. It has been about a year since my implant surgery. No problems at all! FOSIC has a great group of staff that is friendly and treat patients with respect. Dr. Olsen is very knowledgeable and addressed all of my concerns and questions. I did not have a good experience with Dr, Olson. I had a tooth removed and I should have been put out for it as it was painful and traumatic for me but this was not presented as an option for me. I had very long roots that had to be cut out according to his assistant. I also had to go back a couple times to have bone removed as they were painful slivers interfering with my healing and his assistant was condescending to me about it saying they were normal. Also, the bone graft fell out and now have too much bone loss to put in an ideal size implant. I discovered this recently just over 1.4 month after. I also had a very sharp, painful bone on the side of my tooth that he said he would fix If I got an implant. I was unsure. He made vague comments and didn't explain things well and you were left wondering why he said that or what he meant. I had to have another tooth pulled yesterday and went to sleep, they added a bone graft and L-PRP, the bone graft was actually stitched in so it won't fall out, and it was less expensive. This has bothered me for some time and now that I have another experience to compare Dr. Olson to, I now realize how traumatic and sub par that experience was resulting in a failed graft. Do your research and get referrals. read more

I had an emergency extraction that needed to get done I was in agony the night before. I called and spoke to the doctor told me to come in the morning I was in and out by 10:30 am. Everybody was incredibly friendly, Dr. Olson is wonderful he knows what he's doing and he makes you feel comfortable in his hands and confident. Even got a phone call that night to check in on me. We have been to a previous oral surgeon. We need another appointment so I called them back , I was disappointed again with the receptionist not very friendly and helpful as if they do not want to be there. So I decided to look for another surgeon and found Dr.Olsen,I spoke wit Victoria and she is awesome!!. I cannot say how grateful I am for finding this place! I had a wisdom tooth that had to come out. I was swollen and in a lot of pain. I could not find a dentist that would help me. One other dentist told me they couldn't see me for another month! I called Folsom Oral Surgery and explained what was going on and they rushed me in. Not only did they pull the problem tooth but they made it as easy as possible. It wasn't fun, I was getting a tooth pulled after all but they made me feel as comfortable as possible! I was given a warm blanket during the procedure because I was cold, the dentist made sure that I felt nothing, and the dental assistant was so caring. It was the best experience I could have every hoped for. I left the office with all the information I needed to care for the tooth, many ice packs, ice holder, chapstick, medicine, and even a jamba juice card for when I felt like eating/drinking something.
