China Meridian is your typical Main Street store front spa. I arrived mid day so you wouldn't think it would be too busy, but they were very busy. In the hour that I was there, there were 3 walk-ins, one with an appointment and a few phone calls. However, despite this activity, my masseuse, Linda, only left the room once. Room was big and a little chilly. I thought they keep the heat down to keep costs down or maybe they are trying to go green and conserve on fossil fuel consumption. But, they reason they keep the heat down is because when they are giving a massage, they work up a sweat and if it's cooler, they don't get so hot and tired. If they are comfortable and happy, as long as I get a good massage, I'm OK. After seeing Linda, first glance, first impression, I almost requested to see who else was available. Linda is tall and slender and a lot younger than most masseuses. I figured that bending over a table giving a massage for an hour would be to strenuous. But, never underestimate their ability to give a good massage. I'm glad I stayed with Linda, she gave a very nice massage. Too bad China Meridian doesn't have those bars for walking on back. I took out a membership about a year ago and every time I booked an appointment they called to cancel before the date. I ended up making monthly payment for a year and only using the membership once in twelve months. At my one-year mark, I requested that my membership be frozen to enable me use some of the sessions I had accumulated and was told they do not have that option. I requested cancelation and was told I had to call back to speak with a manager to cancel. Before I could call back, the manager unilaterally cancelled my membership. I only found out when I tried to book an appointment. As if that was not bad enough, I was told I had to pay to transfer any of my accumulated sessions to a loved one and all my eleven sessions must be used up within 60 days. None of this was explained to me at signing up. Infact it was one of their selling points. "If you don't use it you can transfer it", they said. I subsequently booked appointments to fall within the two months to use up my sessions and also paid to transfer some to friends and family. I booked these appointments with the understanding that I was trying to use my built-up sessions and was told it was okay so long it falls within the 60 days. I was therefore surprised when they decided that my membership lapsed in the middle of the month and charged me $130 for the make-up appointment. What a rip off! Do not go near these people!1!! A word is good enough for the wise.

This time, except when I had to interact with her by resisting her pushing/pulling, I was more relaxed and was able to zone out and go somewhere within while she worked her magic. Marla dug deeper into my thighs which had absorbed the result of two herniated discs. Painful, but necessary to relieve stress and increase flexibility. Torquing my hips and legs to open space between my discs. Leaning her weight into my folded knees to help loosen the perpetual tightness in my lumbar spine. The time passed quickly, but at its end I felt great, and almost intoxicated from the work done. The spa allowed me to sit in a quiet room for a few minutes until that sensation ended. Slept like a baby last night. PRO TIP - Marla actually works in several locations, just call her to find where is most convenient for you.

My husband had an appointment in earlier January pre-scheduled he kept- and they charged him full non-member price on our card on file. They also charged us another monthly membership fee. My husband called and was told the manager was in a meeting. I called a few hours later- she was out to lunch. I called a bunch of hours later and was told she was available- and then- that she had actually left for the day. So I asked if anyone else could help us. This was almost $200 in charges I wasn't expecting at this point. Was told no. Asked for corporate- because I believed she was just avoiding us. Proven- since that she called. From the place- about an hour later. She was insanely rude- not apologetic- from the start. It definitely made me feel like being rude too- so I may have been. She very rudely told me my husband had already called and she refunded our monthly charge already. She did not want to call back- clearly. Also funny- we had scheduled a February massage and I got a text today that the massage therapist won't be available yet again (more than a month out) and I would need to reschedule. No thanks. I'll take my business elsewhere. Issues with scheduling are one thing. The complete lack of customer service I experience today is quite another and a reason I would not recommend elements massage to anyone. Final note- there's no phone number for corporate. Jess's massage was incredible. Her pressure was perfect and her overall energy is calm, warm, and inviting. I'm usually a Chatty Cathy during massages, and I was able to fully relax the entire time. After learning about Access Bars, I was fully intrigued, and normally would have been talking throughout - but again, I was fully relaxed. I believe this process is different for each person, but being super sensitive, I felt the areas she was working on through subtle sensations in my body, with a few emotionally reactive areas that I was ready to heal through. A quick review on Google doesn't do it justice, but I do encourage anyone that is curious to intentionally schedule some time with Jess (60Min Massage + 60Min Access Bars Combo is my vote!).
