This has been happening more and more lately, and I've been having a lot of fun discovering these close-to-home, beautiful outdoor spaces. Thankfully, this preserve did not disappoint. According to the preserve's website, this 54-acre nature preserve sits along the Conodoguinet Creek and serves as an important natural habitat featuring meadows, wetlands, and ponds. It offers creek access for kayaking and fishing, and the ponds are also open for fishing. Visitors can choose between an almost 2-mile outer loop trail or a shorter 1-mile inner loop trail, both clearly marked and suitable for walking, hiking, and biking. One section of the outer loop provides views of a bald eagle nesting area. The website notes that dogs are not permitted. I visited on a beautiful, though chilly, first Sunday in January. When I arrived around 9am, I found a large gravel parking lot with just a handful of cars. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of clearly marked handicap parking--always nice to see thoughtful accessibility. While the website states that dogs are not allowed, I encountered multiple leashed dogs during my walk (some even sporting sweaters), and several posted signs reminded owners to keep dogs leashed and clean up after them. It's possible the website is outdated, but based on what I observed, dogs definitely seem to be a common sight here. The crushed stone paths combined with the very flat terrain made this an incredibly relaxed and easy walk--perfect for a laid-back Sunday morning. After reviewing the trail map, I chose the Black Trail, which follows the Conodoguinet Creek and passes the designated eagle nesting area before looping back to the parking lot. I took my time, as usual, and the entire walk lasted about 45 minutes. The creek was especially beautiful that morning, with a thin layer of ice glistening in the sunlight. Homes perched high above the creek added to the scenery, and there was plenty of wildlife activity--birds flitting about and squirrels clearly enjoying the crisp morning air. While I didn't spot any eagles on this visit, the signage notes that they frequent the area between January and June, so I'm hopeful I'll catch a glimpse on a future visit. One thing to note: while the preserve is lovely, it does come with a fair amount of residential and roadway noise due to nearby homes and streets. This isn't a secluded, deep-woods experience. Expect to see other visitors, hear phones ringing, and encounter everyday neighborhood sounds. That said, the Vincent DiFilippo Nature Preserve is a solid community space for getting outside and stretching your legs. While I personally prefer quieter, more remote nature experiences, this is a safe, well-maintained, and accessible option for locals looking for a quick and easy nature walk close to home.

Our recent visit to the Camp Hill area of PA was made so much nicer having this park close to our…read morehotel. It certainly left me wishing I had a park with these amenities close to my own home! We were really just looking for a clean playground for my daughter to get some energy out, but I was so impressed that Siebert Park also had a large swimming pool (Olympic size I want to say), walking trails, tennis courts and a full football/soccer field. It was really a beautiful spot to spend an afternoon. The county is clearly committed to making this a clean, safe environment for residents. There was no noticeable litter, there were receptacles available for recycles and I especially appreciate the No Smoking signs near the play equipment. We enjoyed our time here and I would highly recommend it for locals and visitors!

Sieber Park is among my favorite parks in the area for many reasons. First there is a nice, shady…read moretrail along side the brook. The trail is not paved but provides a good variations of terrains, keeping the short hike interesting. We usually start the hike from the trailhead near the pool parking lot by N 25th St. When you cross the bridge, you have the option to turn left to continue north toward the Conodoguinet Creek, or head straight into the wood for a fun hilly hike which I usually do. By the way, if you do continue north toward the creek, you'd reach the water access point on Creek Rd where you can deploy kayaks or tubes for the 3 miles of downstream to the Susquehana River. Then there are the plentiful amenities that makes this park stand out: swimming pool, beach volleyball court, football/athletic field, cabin, and even a gaga ball pit in addition to the usual tennis courts, basketball courts, and children's playground. You will also find track and field grounds scattered around, albeit none of us will make use of them: discus, shot put, javelin, hammer throw, etc. Now, I must mention even as the park got notably improved over the years, the value it provides to me actually diminishes. For example, the football/athletic field is now a full-blown Camp Hill Stadium but open during actual events only, and the tennis courts are for paid member badge access only. Both of them used to be open to public. So Sieber Park's rank on my list has gone down, but we still frequent it for the fun hikes.

I always find sports, events going on here at all time. Parking convenient and available at diff places throughout the park. Good place to walk pets too. Love this park.

For the Stage at Riverfront Park 1 out of 5 for my…read moreexperience because I want something done bc words can't do justice for how poorly handled it was... 5 out of 5 for venue experience I am incredibly disappointed by what I witnessed at the Riverfront Park Stage. This wasn't even about my own experience--it was about a front row experience to watching a patron being treated with a complete lack of professionalism and compassion. A man approached security to ask about a family member who is disabled, uses a cane, and cannot stand for long periods of time. The security line stretched for what appeared to be hundreds of yards, so he politely asked if there was an ADA entrance or any accommodations available. He also explained that they had tried calling earlier in the day--twice--but never received an answer. The security manager (he was wearing a red polo that said such), Mitch, is what I was told his name was by another employee, immediately dismissed him, raised his voice and stating there was nothing they could do, and got verbally aggressive. The patron calmly suggested that, if no accommodations were available, that information should at least be posted on the website so disabled guests know what to expect before arriving. Mitch said that the man was raising his voice, he was not. At no point did I witness this man become aggressive, raise his voice, or act disrespectfully. In fact, many people standing in line around me commented that he remained calm throughout the interaction. Despite this, the security manager accused him of "mouthing off" and being aggressive, which simply was not what happened. It was the manager who escalated the situation while refusing to take any responsibility or show any empathy. Whether or not accommodations were available isn't even the biggest issue. The way this patron was treated for asking a reasonable question about accessibility was unacceptable. A manager, especially one representing guest SAFETY and customer service, should know how to de-escalate situations, communicate respectfully, and treat every guest with dignity--particularly when the concern involves someone with a disability. I sincerely hope Riverfront Park reviews how its security management interacts with the public and ensures staff are better trained in professionalism, customer service, and handling accessibility concerns. What I witnessed left a very negative impression and is not how anyone should be treated. Please place information on the website about ADA accessibility, please consider adding an ADA gate, and please address your "security's" behavior.

A prominent amenity this park offers is the 9 hole disc golf course. And on the day of my last…read morevisit, there were several groups of people participating. There is a pavilion good for group picnic and organized activity. And a rather small 2-slide playground for kids. It's along side the Conodoguinet Creek and so fishing would be another possible activity. In fact, this was the place where I first tried fishing when I moved to PA. There is nice boat launch ramp but an overkill nevertheless because the creek being only 1-2 feet deep, only kayaks, canoes, and floats would be usable. Ambiance-wise, this park feels rather dumpy and disorganized -- maybe partly due to the landscape design. The road is also in desperate need for maintenance. Absolutely not a good place for hiking or even a short walk.

THE BEST!!!! I…read moreremember getting excited as a kid when we'd cross the bridge from the East Shore and start winding up the steep hill that leads to the park. And you know what? I still get just as excited making that ascent as an adult! This park is so beautiful!! You get THE BEST view you can possibly see of Harrisburg from this one little field. The playground section is well-kept with antique charm. The tennis and basketball courts give nice options for play. So does the baseball field. The picnic pavillion is a nice, shady place to take a breather. The bathrooms aren't even that shabby. And there's ample parking. I actually think Negley beats out Central Park for me. I just love it so much :-)

A little difficult when crowded because the creek entry points are narrow (single file). There is vegetation blocking access to the rest of the creek. There is a parking lot across Harrisburg Street, a 2 minute walk. There is a well marked crosswalk with a blinking yellow light to alert traffic to stop.
