The astroturf is well loved and the splash pads and other play gray tires have seen better days, but while it's kinda gross to us, my dog doesn't seem to mind one bit. He's just happy to run around and chase other dogs. And I'm just happy there's a place nearby where we can let him be off leash and run as fast as he can. He's only 20 pounds so we usually stick to the park side for smaller dogs, but sometimes there aren't any littles to play with, and since our dude isn't intimidated by the bigger pups, we feel comfortable letting him play over there occasionally. If you're a stickler for rules, this isn't the park for you - people frequently take big dogs to the little dog side (sometimes they're older, have anxiety, etc.) and vice versa. As others have stated, there are tons of balls to play with and water dishes and water fountains for both people and doggos.

It's fake grass, almost like carpet, and it has NOT been upkept at all. It was packed with more dogs than I've ever seen at a dog park and nobody was paying attention to their dogs but us. Poop left everywhere, nobody picking it up. It was way too overwhelming for me and for our dog. As one of only 3 dog parks in the US that won the Benefit Dream Dog Park contest, I was so excited we were able to visit...now I wish we didn't even go.

The softball fields are usually in good condition and well maintained, which makes a big difference when you're playing regularly. One thing everyone notices right away is how windy it can get--it's probably one of the windiest places around--but you kind of get used to it. Besides sports, it's a great place for families. There are playgrounds for kids, plenty of open space, and lots of spots that are perfect for picnics or just hanging out. I've also walked my dogs there many times, and one thing I really like is that the park is big enough to keep distance if your dogs aren't super friendly with others. They also have a large dog park with separate areas for small and big dogs, which is really nice. There's water available for the dogs, and I've seen a lot of people bring their pets there to play. The park also has fountains for both people and dogs, as well as porta potties, which makes it convenient if you're staying for a while. Overall, Norlo Park is a great local spot whether you're there for sports, walking your dog, or just spending time outside with family.

This is a surprisingly large park, almost 150 acres. I'm not sure why it's called a dog park, it's…read moremuch more than that. There are three separate playgrounds, one of which is built for toddlers and younger kids. Another playground is conveniently located between two pavilions. Both pavilions have grills available to cookout. The third playground is closer to the cloverleaf area (see paragraph below). There are over two miles of paved walking/running trails throughout the park. Most of which is fairly level, for Pennsylvania anyways. There are a several brand spanking new softball fields, four of which are grouped in one area. To me they resemble a four leaf clover. I didn't use the dog area, but from what I could tell, there were two fenced areas. You must keep your dog on a leash outside of these areas for sure. During summer Saturday afternoons there are train rides for kids (and adults). The impressive train goes in a loop on site. The current hours are from one to four, so you have three hour window to work with there. I think I saw soccer field, horseshoe pits, sand volleyball, basketball, and tennis courts as well. A large barn and community building rental can be utilized for weddings, parties, and such. With so much to do nearby it is work looking into.

Obviously visitors and park officials are doing their part to keep the place ship-shape. Brought my dog for a run; he met two other large-breed pups to romp with inside the multi-acre fenced space for large dogs. Small dogs have the adjacent fenced area. Hard to believe the dog park is free. It's downhill from the playground and pavilions, away from kids and picnickers. Beautiful views from the top of the hill where you enter the park and where the pavilions are. Playground looks awesome. We had a nice hike to the dog park area through mowed fields. I noticed paved walkways directly to the pavilions from the parking area. Perhaps an additional path could be put in, with dogpaw-shaped stepping stones or whatever, to guide dog owners to the top of the hill where the trail leads down to the dog runs. It can get muddy here in the winter, it does have grass and a water source, but it looks like the water source is turned off during the winter. Plenty of frisbee and balls in the ball. PA is full of town parks. Centre County has some of the best in the state…read more Tudek is no exception to that. It has just about everything you would want in a rural park. There is a modern playground. There are athletic courts and fields. There is a really nice walking trail. There are several things that set this one apart, though. It has a dog park, for one. This is something uncommon in this part of the state. The other unique feature is a butterfly garden. It is quite beautiful and scientifically correct for the species of butterfly and bees in this part of the state. There is even a yearly educational program called Wings in the Park which was going on the day we got there. The program had activity stations set up with educational "questions" to help the young and old, alike, learn about the butterfly. There was even a station about bees. This program had information on new methods for growing perennials that are friendly to the butterfly. They had information on conservation efforts in effect in order to save the rapidly disappearing Monarch butterfly. Back to the park itself. The main trail winds through some fields. One of which appears to be a horse pasture. It is really odd, too. You would think with the developments nearby, that you would feel like you were in the middle of a residential area. You don't feel that way. It feels completely rural and relaxing. I imagine this would be a great place to go for a jog. The main trail is paved. But there are little grass covered trails and reflection spots throughout the butterfly garden. So with all this, I can really highly recommend this park. One of the top ones I have been to in along time. I mean... butterfly garden? Yep, with sunflowers, semi exotic looking native birds, and natural beauty, this would be a great place to visit daily.
