The lady operating the shop was incredibly friendly, and took good care of us, delivering our much-needed coffees and food to our table with a warm smile. The hot dog with the lot is unbeatable; by far one of the best hot dogs in town. It's so big and packed with fillings that you have to cut it in half just to be able to eat it. I'm not familiar with the rest of the lunch menu, but take my advice and try the hot dog with lot. Make sure you bring your biggest, meanest appetite too.

It looks like a fairly traditional cafe, but what makes it stand out is its range of homemade food, including lasagna, meat balls, as well as lots of fresh rolls. There is also a big range of homemade sweets. It's run by a friendly Italian couple, and the shops fits so perfectly around them. Since it was lunchtime, I decided upon the teriyaki chicken roll, figuring I couldn't go too wrong for $4.50. I was presented with the Italian version of a Vietnamese Roll - freshly cooked teriyaki chicken in a crispy fresh bun with cucumber, shredded carrot, homemade mayonnaise and plenty of coriander. Delicious! And great value for money. Other options are rolls with beef, onion and gravy, or a meatball roll, or steak sandwiches or croissants with lots of different fillings. They do all day breakfast alongside their rolls and hot food, as well as milkshakes, coffee and traditional iced-coffee. I'll definitely be going back there to try out more of that tasty home-cooked food.

To say I was pleasantly suprised by the super comfortable quirky cafe (a big red wall, blackboards, wooden furniture) interior is an understatement. I was stoked, I felt at home. The menu is well set out and easy to read, however actually picking what I wanted was the hardest decision of my life. To put it in perspective, deciding to have surgery on my achilles and put my life in the doctors hands took me less than 4 seconds. Choosing my breakfast from ETC - easily 8+ minutes. I eventually settled for the Big Brekky option, even though it's usually the last thing I would get. I just wanted to try as much as I could (there was actually a solid spread of tomatoes, mushies and spinach on it). I attended with my darling sister (who actually disowned me and referred to me as 'a friend' in her review of ETC - OUCH), who ordered the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Our food was delicious. The service was very friendly, the staff always smiling and circulating the room to clear tables and make sure everything was alright. Everything was sweet, a great comfy cafe, delicious food and good staff. Oh and we only had to wait like 10mins for our meals. What could possibly make it better... A Chocolate milkshake - in a traditional chilled milkshake glass - with a sweeeeeeeeeet rolled paper barbershop style straw. It was delicious. This was filled with all the regular big breakfast items but with gorgeous gourmet twists... Think smoked salmon & scrambled eggs on toast with Beetroot relish, or tomato & ricotta on toast, or poached eggs on warm garlic yoghurt on toast served with sautéed mushrooms. The other big bonus was the fruits & grains menu options, which were trendy, unusual & sumptuous. I had the fresh ricotta & banana with crushed pistachios & walnuts, drizzled with honey. On to the drinks menu... There were the standard drinks, the slightly unusual or more refined options (think masala chai), and finally more unusual options like the fruit tingle smoothie (sounds odd but was amazing, consisting of orange juice, milk, banana, honey & orange sorbet). We are staying at the Stamford in Glenelg so it only made sense to try their restaurant. After driving all day, we were rather exhausted, so happy to sit down for dinner early and a superficial look down the street did not seem to bode well for a quiet dinner. Probably a little too early and with the restaurant empty, I opted for their Singapore specials. Very quickly started off with entrees of vegetarian spring rolls and Singaporean curry puffs. Both nice and the curry puffs very well spiced but not exceptional. Then, although waiting staff were quite pleasant (perhaps the lovely young lady might have stopped chewing gum during service) and reasonably efficient we now waited almost an hour before the mains were served. As I was already exhausted this was quite a struggle but eventually my Nasi Goren's arrived. It was actually lovely. Well flavored and nicely prepared. Had an LPA to wash it all down and then retired for a good sleep

Who would dream up such a thing? The Stamford Grand as it turns out. With no advertising, the event sold out within 2 weeks. Sun shining and sea breeze blowing, we signed the Guinness World Record register for the World's Longest Cream Tea, found our seats, and were offered a glass of Jacobs Creek bubbles. Everyone was jolly, despite the increasing sea gusts, as we were all in it to support Novita Children's Services. We were dutifully informed that there was a contingency of Guinness World Record officials monitoring our every move. The defining act - taking at least one sip of tea and eating at least one bite of scone each - to secure the record. A tantalising glimpse at the menu tempted us as we sipped bubbly and were offered refills of our tea by a smiling steward. Before too long, and surprisingly quick given the huge amount of people to cater for, a two tier stand arrived laden with sandwiches, hot savouries including the Stamford Grand's signature curry (chicken) puff and tandoori chicken skewers, scones, and teeny cakes. There were fruit tarts, banana cake squares, mixed berry mouse, and mango pavlova's. Awaiting a special meal (vegetarian) I was informed that I would get my very own plate. Well given the chill wind I couldn't wait and did my bit for the Guinness World Record and sampled the scones and other sweets. The scones were perfectly warm and short, accompanied with a variety of jams and whipped cream. My favourite sweet was the fruit tart with lovely pastry, custard and glazed fruit. Having been marked off the register for the Record, my individual vegetarian plate arrived. It is most impressive that dietary considerations are accommodated for such a large scale event. Plus everything on the plate was delicious! A vegie skewer of barbequed veg had nice smokey and sweet flavour, there was a tasty samosa, finger sandwiches including pesto sun dried veg, guacamole, and salad, a piece of orange syrup cake, and carrot & walnut cake. It was at about this point that a particularly gusty burl of wind air lifted my mother in law's hat and sent it soaring effortlessly across the jetty onto the beach below. Justin Higgins, General Manager of the Stamford Grand shouted "I'll get it!" and so he did, collecting some sir lifted napkins and glasses at the same time. We had the opportunity to ask if the long high tea would happen again, and all signs point to yes due to the success. As the weather was closing in, once we had supped on the delicious goodies, we took to the promenade back along the jetty. Smiling staff, as on arrival, farewelled us, welcomed us back soon, and told us that if the world record bid was successful, that we could expect our certificates in the mail.

Speaking of inside, the decor is gorgeous! The waiters were very friendly, and our mojito was possibly the best we'd tasted. We ordered a share plate of Jamon croquettes (my favourite!), Piquillo peppers (my partner's favourite), garlic toast, olives, tortilla and a selection of sauces. Ohhh, what a gorgeous selection! We also had the lamb skewers (Pinchitos) and Patatas Bravas (potatoes with tomato and paprika sauce). Absolutely stunning, everything was delicious. For dessert, we just had to try the Chocolate Tapas plate for 2 - oh wow. Churros, mousse, ice cream, brownies. What more can I say? It *was* pretty filling though, so I think I'll just order the churros next time ;) Speaking of churros - best ones I've had (and we've tried a few around Adelaide!). I will recommend to make a reservation for the outdoor seating or the front seating because when it gets busy you might have to wait which is not a good option when you are hungry. We did not had a reservation but because we were very early so we got a table for two at the back. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They asked us if it was our first time, for which we said yes and they explained how the menu works. There was a banquet for 2 course and 3 course meal, then some tapas options, some starters, mains which are shared( loved this one) and then if you are confused and do not know what to eat , leave it on the experienced Chefs, they will feed you till you are full! The drink menu was amazing, the waiting staff helps you with the drinks choice with the kind of food you ordered. For our dinner, we ordered for starters Salsas( trio of house made Spanish dips with pita bread) and Calamares Fritos( paprika , salt and pepper squid). For mains we ordered a Paella Mixta( seafood paella with chicken, chorizo and olives)( it serves 2). For the drinks we had Corona beer and Mojito( one of the best I had in a long time). To enhance the table space they have small racks for the food. The bread and dips were delish. The dips were olives, paprika and eggplant. The calamari was the softest and melt in mouth! Loved both the starters. It is mentioned in the menu that if you order paella you have to wait for 45 mins because they make it fresh! So enjoy your starters and drinks slowly before noming on the paella! When the paella arrived it was so aromatic that the people on the next table talked to us and clicked a photo of our paella because they did not order paella because of time constraint. It was a good portion size for 2 people and has bimba rice, mussels, prawns, calamari, chorizo and chicken pieces. Garnished with lemon wedges. It was served in a paella pan! Just like cook and serve! It was very flavourful and paprika was definitely there as one can feel a tinglong sensation on the tongue. The rice was cooked perfectly and the seafood was perfectly cooked! A balance of flavours and textures. The food which appeals to eyes and tastebuds. We did not had any space for desserts! Through the "Festival of Food" program was how I discovered this gem many moons ago. It has a fantastic view and is situated at the Windy Point Lookout, as the suggests. The service here keeps the bar high in the hospitality industry. Everyone appreciate that friendly and knowledgable staff is worth their weight in gold and this establishment gets a tick from me. We were here for the Festival of Food preview, the official program kicks off in May. Our food journey begins with the housemade ciabatta with red pepper butter. Our entree tasting plate comprised of crocodile chipolata with a sweet potato harissa, thornby lamb shoulder, ras el hanout, saag aloo with a spinach puree. They were all good except for the lamb. Not a fan of red meat, I gave my share away. The main attraction arrived and they were beautifully plated. I had the barramundi with battered mussels accompanied by a fennel and orange salad. The skordalia paste completed the dish. The barramundi was perfection. Simply melted in my mouth. The salad contrasted nicely against the heaviness of the battered mussels and the richness of the fish. The other girls both had red meat. One had the kangaroo and the other had the steak. Both were happy with how their meat were cooked. We ordered some fat chips to share and did not regret our decision. They were super crunchy and filled a void on a cold Autumn night. As part of the Festival of Food, our dining experience was completed by the arrival of petit fours (French for small oven, is usually a small confectionary or savoury appetizer). Ours included nutella puffs and lemon, lime & butters marshmellows. Interesting take on the original marshmellow, however I could have lived without it, personally. The puffs were average, nothing of note here. The girls did opt for desserts as well. One enjoyed the tasting plate immensely. The other not so much. I made a booking through the festival of food which gave a particular deal which was $31 for bread, Entre, main course and a dessert tasting plate (such good value). We had the one waitress for the night and she was very friendly, asking us with every course whether we were happy with the food and giving a description of each course. I didn't even mention it was my 21st when I booked but sure enough when dessert came out they had a birthday message written for me. The Entre was comprised of three delicious bite sized portions, crocodile chipolata, thornby lamb shoulder and saag aloo. The lamb shoulder was particularly good and just melted in your mouth. Following on from that really all the meat served to us was cooked to perfection, at our table someone had the kangaroo which was done well, a steak was ordered which was asked to be medium well done and came out just as they wanted and the chicken breast did not have a hint of dryness to it. Afterwards we were asked if we wanted to order dessert but the mains were so big that we didn't have the room! 10/10 windy point cafe is definitely worth your money!

I honestly cannot wait to go back and have it again. My partner's dish was also great with a decent sized serving of haloumi, which is rare to see at most places. The only criticism was that the haloumi was a bit overcooked, which made it rubbery... and the poached eggs were hard inside and not at all runny, which sort of ruined it for him as the rest of the ingredients were a bit dry on their own and really needed that runny egg yolk to bring it all together! Regardless, we will definitely be returning. Great selection of food (particularly for vegetarians) compared to the standard coffee, toast and eggs you get at most of the other cafes. EDIT: Came back a second time and whilst the haloumi was a bit rubbery and too salty still, the eggs were perfect and it made a HUGE difference.
