The place is decorated in a very oldie worldly style, with grand leather sofas, ornate decoration and the grande piano. The bar sits centrally in the middle with a huge range of beverages one would expect from a cocktail lounge. If you can get by the large floor to ceiling windows looking over the bay its a great place at sunset, while listening to the piano tinkling away. The list of cocktails is extensive and some can be quite pricey....but from what i have tasted so far they are worth the extra for a treat once in a while. I have had to wait sometimes for a cocktail in busier periods but never long enough to warrant complaint. They do have tap beer/cider available too if you just want somewhere quieter than everywhere else to just relax.....! While drinking here...Julia Gillard dropped in once too....

Unfortunately they don't have a private function room, but they offered the back end of the bar for us, which wasn't what I was looking for but they were very helpful and accommodating to what I said I liked and wanted etc. The second time I came here was a Sunday night with a few of the girls. We decided to have a couple of quiet drinks and to splurge on a cocktail. I chose the Snickers cocktail which was delish!! It cost about $16 but it was huge. That night Sunset Bar wasn't overly busy and there were a few very drunk girls making fools of themselves (but I guess you can get this anywhere), but apart from that the location of Sunset Bar is great, it's got a large bar and plenty of seating and dance floor space. You can also sit outside on the Marina side or beach side. A perfect summer spot!

I found the staff really helpful and friendly (although maybe it was because we were mainly served by a bearded bartender and had an equally bearded friend with us!) and they cleared our empty glasses really quickly which was good as we had limited space on our table. My only complaint was that the live music on the night was way too loud, it was much louder than the normal music playing over the speakers and forced us to yell at eachother to have a conversation. The food, what little we did get, was delicious. But given the small portions and extremely long wait, it just wasn't worth it. I think I saw a few skeletons in the corner still waiting on their meals when we left.

The rest were literally the most useless staff we have ever dealt with (even the floor manager was crap and avoidant). Just useless and frankly rubbish is the best way to describe them. Our female server had no idea what she was doing and didn't understand that serious food allergies can land people in hospital. We had two celiacs and one person with various allergies. Trying to order from this girl was like squeezing blood from a stone. She had no desire to offer any help or walk 2 meters to the kitchen behind us to ask questions. We had to get her to write the allergies down. Then we get our meals and our meals have literally the stuff we can't have in them. Hint: When someone has a food allergy of onion, don't put onion on their salad, when someone is a vegetarian, don't put a giant slab of grey soggy meat on their plate. We had to send the meal back 3 times before they realised that Spanish onion was ONION' and even then there must have been residue or something in the salad dressing because afterwards we felt so incredibly sick. The two celiacs both got poisoned by something in their meal even through we triple checked the wait staff and kitchen knew the allergies. The other food? The rest of the tables food was bland and overpriced. The pavlova came with half a strawberry diced up so small you could suck it through a straw. Atmosphere. When we walked in no one offered to help us or seat us. The place stunk like chlorine and air freshener (biscotti scented?). We also had a mild anaphylactic reaction to something in the restaurant as our throats started tickling before we had even ordered and by the time our meals came out we had headaches, a dizzy feeling and our throats were swollen. Truly a horrible experience with the most rubbish, disgusting, overpriced food, the most useless staff imaginable and a gross atmosphere of potentially leaking gas that meant us leaving felt incredible for the first time that night with the fresh air.

They also hold visual arts classes for their members and have recently introduced a program whereby members can learn film making skills and express themselves through digital media. Established back in the late 1990's by playwright and composer Pat Rix, the Tutti group has gone from strength to strength under Pat's passionate guidance and leadership. They cater for people of all ages and even have groups for the real little ones with intellectual disabilities - these kids are just a delight to watch as they light up and express themselves though music and rhythm. Tutti also have an outreach program with the aim being to reach regional areas and included members of those communities in their programs as well. If you ever get the chance to see a Tutti performance, don't miss them. This is a truly moving experience.
