Awful Experience...
Let's just say that my experience at Cremeria San Francesco left me with a bad taste in my mouth, both figuratively and literally.
A friend and I were curious to try their gelato one evening after work. There were a few people ahead of us and another woman who walked in after us. The two women working behind the counter would ask whose turn it was each time they finished helping a customer. When it was finally supposed to be our turn, the woman who had entered the gelateria after we had stepped up to the counter and began ordering. I decided to say something, even though I normally let things like this go, because it was blatantly clear that we had been waiting there longer. When I told the woman that we had been there first, she turned to me with an offended expression and stormed out of the shop without completing her order. The WORST PART was that after having witnessed the brief exchange, one of the employees behind the counter told us that we shouldn't have said anything because the woman was "older". I couldn't believe my ears. What does age have to do with it? If it had been an innocent mistake, the woman would have surely apologized and offered to wait her turn instead of abruptly leaving the store. And if the store's attitude was to scold us for speaking up, it's certainly a place where I have no desire to spend my money in the future. If that's the way they want to run their business, instead of asking "who's next?" they should be asking "who's oldest?". Just plain ridiculous. After this whole ordeal, I found the gelato itself mediocre. There are plenty of other gelaterie that offer much better tasting gelato and, more importantly, respect all of their customers regardless of age.
Two thumbs way down. read more
