A date with my sister usually involves a movie and/or shopping, popcorn, crepes, and milk teas!…read moreSince we live nearby, out go-to mall is Robinson's Place. Crepes and Cream may be ubiquitous in the metro's malls, but that doesn't mean their products are automatically inferior. What I can appreciate is that they offer a variety of flavors, from the savory to the sweet; their stalls and are clean and uncluttered; and they make the crepes fresh and fast. (It's quite addicting to watch their staff turn the batter into perfectly thin crepes that, no sweat! And I've always marveled at how their crepes don't tear or break down at all despite being filled and folded in a rush.) I recently triend their Kani Crepe while my sister had the Taco Crepe for lunch. Though the filling is not as abundant as I would have wanted, the simple but yummy flavor of the crepe made up for it. They were quite filling, too, lasting us till dinner while we strolled around the mall.

BAck then I was the type who played it safe by ordering ice cream instead of something as exotic as crepe. Nowadays, more people are familiar with this particular slice of dessert than I know. Crepes and cream is a bit special to me because it was the first establishment that showed me that crepes could be savory too. Before I tried this place, all the crepes I ever had were of the desert variety. That said, the stuff on their menu isn't that expensive. The quality of the crepe is great at least when compared to most of the places I've been to. Give it a try, once again, since you'll do little wrong in spending your money here. I sure as heck didn't regret it when I did.

This is my little piece of Paris in Manila. And it takes a lot for me to say this. You see, I am an…read moreabsolute Parisphile (if you haven't already noticed from that profile thing on the left). I was definitely French in my past life. And I still consider myself French in this current life. Just like any Frenchie (or fine, French wannabe), I need my crêpes, French-flavored quaintess and that dose of la joie de vivre, preferably with French language all around me, if not through actual French speakers then at least through music. La Crêperie gives me all these, nicely tucked in a quiet side street in Salcedo Village. Their galettes are ultra-cravable, with me having the Nami (caramelized onions, herbed cheese, mushrooms and extra spinach) twice already this week alone. The third time will be tomorrow. The fourth will be the day after. And maybe I'll add that cup of Angelina's hot chocolate (YES, THAT ANGELINA! FROM PARIS! THEY HAVE IT OMG) for dessert. Oui, while I am not in Paris again and longing for this city that I looooove à la folie, this'll definitely do.

This french-style restaurant in Salcedo Village, Makati, is a perfect choice for a romantic date…read more The place has a very charming atmosphere, not only because of the kind of food they serve, but also because of its interior design. They mix modern furniture, white brick walls and some roustic demolition wood columns. Add elegant chandeliers to the Picture and you'll feel what this place is about. The house's specialities are crepes and galletes. I appreciate the "galettes de sarrasin", made with 100% imported buckwheat flour. It's nice to have glúten free options on the menu! My favorite one is the Italienne (ham, mozzarella chesse, pesto, tomato and cream; Php 385). When I want something different, I order the Savoyarde (hungarian sausage, raclette cheese, picnic bacon, marbled baby potatoes, cornichons and picked onions; PhP 395). Those who don't want crepes have other options like pasta, salads, hamburgers and meals with rice. The food presentation is also very nice, what gives the experience a sophisticated touch. By those litte details you can feel the kitchen is not churning out thousands of crepes per second in a mecanical way. Instead, everything is created with care. A plus is that the kitchen is open, so you can check how your food is being prepared. For dessert, ask for the Double Chocolate Fudge sweet crepe, with fidge brownie bites and homemade bittersweet chocolate sauce topped with vanilla ice cream (Php 235). On hot Summer days I would recommend the Strawberry Mango Jubillee (Php 315), which is very fresh and light. The drinks section also offers some great surprises. Coffee lovers will also have a great time. I've tried the Café Affogato (Php 125) and it was so creamy! Their must-try, however, is definetelly their hot chocolate named Angelina's (Php 210). Since I'm a tea lover, something I really love about this place is that they serve TWG tea. My favourite one ever is Paris Singapore. Sweet and romantic in the right amount, just like the place.

Also, price hasn't increased that much which is great and service has always been attentive. They serve their crepes on their signature blue and white plates and the interiors haven't changed much too. I always request them to make my crepe a bit crunchy to have more texture. Their coffee and their burgers are good too. Overall happy that this place is still doing well and that they've maintained consistency over the years.

My friend ordered strawberry shortcrepe and was disappointed that the strawberry was a jam rather than fresh ones. Even then, the jam was minuscule. Instead, it had plenty of strawberry syrup. She liked the crepe itself and thought the strawberry ice cream was delicious. I ordered the Pinay crepe that had plenty of fresh mangoes and chocolate syrup. It did not come with ice cream so I ordered chocolate ice cream as a supplement. I enjoyed every bite because the crepe was warm and the right amount of supple. Surprisingly, it was not too sweet. Hubby ordered the mango crepe with Grand Marnier and coffee ice cream. He enjoyed it. Coming here every time we come to the Philippines has become our tradition. It is comfort food and the service is always excellent.

I would recommend their Croque Monsieur if you like cheese. My relatives enjoy numerous dishes here. They like their lasagna and crepes. Afterwards, they have their cappuccino with extra cream on the side. When we ate here yesterday, they served the cappuccinos without sugar. The cappuccinos were no longer hot by the time they received the Splenda and brown sugar. I was very happy drinking my PAUL frappe blended with pistachio macarons/macaroons yesterday. Today, I ordered the PAUL frappe blended with chocolate macarons/macaroons. I'll stick to ordering their pistachio frappe. There aren't too many places that sell that flavor. Today, they asked for the Splenda and brown sugar before they received their cappuccinos. I enjoyed their ham and cheese crepe. It's nice that they dice the ham. It makes it easier to eat the crepe. The crepe was okay, but I'd rather have their Croque Monsieur.

I waited for someone to approach me for almost 20 minutes and the servers just passed me by. I was not even offered any water or was asked "how I was doing and if I was ever ready to order." So I got up and told the manager that their service is very poor. The menu itself seems very used, dirty and very overwhelming to look at. Servers seem very timid when it comes to interacting with people. However, this would not be the last time I would visit, because I did not even get a chance to try the menu. I will be back and hopefully there will be improvements with their service.
