During the build, the subcontractors did pretty shotty work, I have visible nails on most of my walls, they also accidentally cut through a wall into a space we were occupying. Now we come to find that there is mildew in our attic which we found only because the water condensed enough to collect in a light fixture and cause it to fail. We reached out to Cresent and they came out to inspect. The follow-up email is that none of it is under warranty- despite it was clearly built incorrectly to begin with , it just took 5 years for the problem to get bad enough to cause damage we could see, a rusted light fixture. As We don't go into our attic space, we were unaware that the original design and or installation were so pour either our shower has been venting into our attic space for 5 years or the original design should have included more ventilation resulting in a space that just collects water. It also seems that none of the people we worked with 5 years ago are still with the company. This was another example of poor customer service. For the amount they charge their sub contractors should be a higher quality and their customer service should include some service. During the project there were many other issues that we had to "catch" and have them fix, too many to recount. After coming to assess our situation, we received a friendly email letting us know that their assessment was complementary but all subsequent actions would be billed hourly. So, I am submitting this complementary review. We will not be inviting them back. They have done enough damage. read more

I would not recommend working with Crescent Builds. The design work they did for us a was flat out wrong, and we were on the hook for thousands of dollars to pay their designers for incorrect measurements and inappropriate material suggestions. After that, the bid skyrocketed about 46% past the high end (69% past the low end) of the feasibility study quote. There were no scope changes, and we provided almost all the selections prior to the feasibility study. In my opinion, they did not take enough accountability for wasting our time and money in design and completely missing the price range of their own feasibility study (which we also paid them for). And this was for a very straightforward basement project that we were able to hire another contractor for who finished it on time and on his expected budget (lower than Crescent's low estimate) with the same selections and without any major issues. We paid a lot for a very messy experience with Crescent. I recommend you look elsewhere for Design and GC work. read more

We reached out to Crescent Builds for a few house projects we were interested in completing, and ended up doing several calls, receiving a site visit, and a "study" from them. Throughout the process, they repeatedly said the "study," which cost hundreds of dollars, would answer all of our questions in greater detail and was essentially required for a site visit. Spoiler alert: The study provided zero details! (Just as an example, we asked if replacing concrete with pavers would change the price estimate for hardscaping, and they told us they really couldn't say until they were working on it.) The prices the "study" listed were so inflated, it wouldn't have made any sense to apply that credit toward a project. We have since found contractors that have done much of the work for less than a third of what Crescent Builds quoted. It was an expensive lesson to learn, and we are wiser (if more paranoid) for it now. read more

Okay I don't know what the deal is with this company. The reviews look great, but if you dig deeper into it all the people below have 1-2 friends, are missing a profile pic, or works for the company. Here's my personal experience with this company. They were hired to complete a window installation project at the beginning of August. What was originally supposed to be a 10-day project turned into over a two-week fiasco! Then after the brand new window was installed, there was a faulty piece that required the company to order a new part. Worst part was, the workers left a mess! Not only did they disrespect another person's property, their workmanship was appalling. Now almost two months after the start of the project, the window still does not work properly. In fact, the workers came back to repaint portions of the wall and, again, they left the place a complete mess! And we are still awaiting another part for the window. Gosh never thought I'd have to vent against a building company! Definitely my first! if the office wasn't so far I would have gladly marched in and gave them a piece of my mind... guess ill just have a word with the workers. Am filing a complaint and bringing this up the chain. read more

Crescent Builds recently completed an addition and back building new construction, and a whole-house remodel on our home in Shoreline. Everything from our first meeting with August (who endured the enthusiastic affections of our dog as she draped herself over his shoulder while he explained scope and cost), to our interactions with their billing supervisor Kat, has been nothing but lovely, friendly, honest, and absolutely unparalleled. After hearing so very many remodel nightmare stories, we were fully prepared: double the schedule and the cost, they all said. But working with Crescent Builds, our schedule was only impacted once, and our costs only overran slightly. Both overruns were due to issues like the building boom in our community, which delayed a shipment and drove some sub contractor costs up, and issues with the house that could only be discovered once they opened the walls. And neither increase came anywhere close to double the original estimate. They're the ultimate professionals, but they feel like friends. Their attention to detail is almost preternatural. The construction quality is solid and bullet proof. The communication is constant, detailed, and completely open. They're finishing up a few last things, and I can honestly say, I will miss them when they're done. From Vincent's attention to detail, absolutely top notch workmanship, and steady leadership of the sub contractors, to Ned's ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound to ensure the project stayed on schedule, and his paint know-how, to Emilee's steady design vision, her absolute clarity of purpose, and her knack for focusing on details so tiny that I have no idea how she can keep that all in her head, to August's clear, focused, amiable, customer-first leadership. With the architectural brilliance of their partnership with Skip from Walls & Weeds, our house is now the house it's always wanted to be. We moved back into the house a few weeks ago, and I have to say, we have experienced an issue since then. See, I'm late for work every day. Here's why: 1) I'm a project manager, and while I've always been pretty understanding with missed deadlines, I am now a nightmare about them. Overheard at my work: "...if Crescent Builds could complete a whole-house remodel with only one relatively minor delay, and moved heaven and earth to make sure there were no further delays, how come you couldn't complete this task on time?!" I'm starting to scare my co-workers. 2) Because of Crescent Build's transparency on every aspect of this project, I am now a smug know-it-all about remodels, and no one wants to hear that. Especially when I blurt out fun facts at the coffee machine, like, "did you know that hardwood floors have to sit in your home for five days to acclimate?" 3) Since the master bathroom is so gorgeous and spa-like, I don't want to leave. Skip from Walls & Weeds decided we should increase the size of it by several feet, so now it's huge. The water pressure is from heaven, the tile is basically like a foot massage, and you guys, it's just not really conducive to quick showers. Also there's a jetted tub in there now and I'm not made of stone. 4) The time I've spent just sliding the perfectly-hung rustic barn door in the bedroom back and forth should probably be studied by scientists. 5) I'm trying to get down the stairs, but there's the new library with soaring bookcases and the oh-so inviting upper deck. How am I not supposed to stop and sit down for a second to admire the glory of my home? 6) Once I get downstairs, I just don't want to leave the new kitchen. Its perfect layout, gorgeous quartz counter tops, and heart-of-the-home feel make it hard to walk away. Related: I should probably get some bigger pants. 7) The floors are incredible. The texture, the fact that no two boards are the same color, the perfect installation and new insulation under the floors... well, I don't want to put my shoes on to leave the house. 8) We now have the living room of our dreams, with its new built-ins and shiplap and rustic mantle and blazing fireplace... it's like a magnet, pulling me in to get cozy on the couch, turn on HGTV, and judge all those remodel shows because none of them come even close to the high bar Crescent Builds has set for project management, design, construction, and customer care. Professional. Prompt. Honest. On schedule. On budget. When was the last time you heard someone use those words about their contractor? In my experience with Crescent Builds, Todd and crew lived up those descriptions, and then some. From the minute I saw their bid on my bathroom remodel, I knew they were a cut above. The detail on the estimate was very precise, unlike the usual "Should cost around this much" bids I've received in the past that always end up blowing out the budget. The subcontractors arrived on time (which is rare), and completed the work on schedule (rarer still). Being a remodel, we expected a few hiccups to appear, such as rotten studs behind the walls, or mold, etc., but I was really impressed that Todd didn't use those items as an opportunity to gouge. Instead, he quickly responded to any issues that came up so that the timeline wasn't thrown off much at all. He has an eagle eye, too, for catching the little things that can cost $$$ down the line, and addressing them as preventative maintenance (all with authorization, of course). Finally, their front office was a pleasure to deal with. The invoicing is very detailed, and either Kat or Todd are are willing to walk through the process with you, if necessary. Overall, I am extremely happy with the work Crescent put into the place, and I have a beautiful new bathroom to show for it! Two years ago we had Todd and Gus remodel our 50's style kitchen. They worked with us to redesign the kitchen into what we had always wanted. Their work was meticulous, they were easy to work with and they kept our place very clean. We were so happy with their work we had them back this last fall to remodel our front entryway. They did an incredible job in a short amount of time. We had them install a beautifull new front door and a faux granite finish to our entry walkway. Todd drew up some plans for us and suggested extending and widening our existing two front steps. This is something I never would have thought of and it has made a huge difference both visually and in ease of use! We have received a ton of compliments from friends and neighbors.
