They have picnic tables, a playground for kids with swings, changing rooms, and one port-a-potty toilet. They also have a Mobi-Mat from the parking lot to the beach to assist those with reduced mobility. We were the only people there at sunset. Great for quiet contemplation or a romantic walk.

Bayswater goes one step further and also gives you warm water! Well, water as warm as the Atlantic ocean can provide. It's not bone chilling and you don't have to numb your whole body before you can swim around. I was surprised at how warm it really was. It's a bit of a drive from Halifax, but that just means not everyone is going to be committed enough to drive out to it. Therefore, the beach isn't packed! The washrooms are clean and well-maintained; can be lineups at times. Parking can get tricky at times, depending on the time of your arrival. We enjoyed swimming in the ocean, hiking and sat on the rocks and enjoyed the breathtaking view of the ocean.

You…read morecan choose to stay on the 103 for the drive down the South Shore or you can opt for the scenic route along the old number 3 highway. This makes the trip a fair bit longer, but you've got some great stopping places along the way like Mahone Bay and Chester. It's not hard to find as long as you have a few simple directions easily located on Google Maps. Once you arrive you will find ample parking and well maintained facilities for changing, etc. and a canteen. The beach is lovely and stretches quite far. I always find the water quite warm and there are few rocks or seaweed. A great place to go for a day out of the hustle and bustle of the city. On your way out check out the beach across the road, it's pretty cool because you can drive your car right onto the beach. I have yet to try this, but often admire from the road as we leave. I always come back through La Have as it is a really nice scenic drive. This is one of Nova Scotia's gems not to be missed.

When it briefly stopped raining, I walked down to the beach and it was nice with the breeze. The location has outdoor washroom and change rooms, ample of parking and it seems when parking is full people park on the road. It seems to be a popular beach access for the locals- so it must be nice. Even off season the beach was quite clean- just be careful some dog owners are not picking up their doo doo. There should be a sign to remind pet owners. :(

While this is a beach-related park, I don't foresee a lot of swimming here. It's more of a "wade…read moreinto the water a bit" kind of beach. The water's pretty cold and the wind is pretty strong. However, if you're looking for a gentle stroll along the water's edge on the wooden boardwalk, this is the place for you! It's right next to the Fisherman's Wharf shopping/eating area so this is a good way to walk off some of those calories. On a nice calm day, you can also find tons of stones to skip across the water.
