We used Cress to remodel our kitchen and master bathroom and it was the best decision I've made as a home owner. When I decided it was time for a remodel, I interviewed 12 contractors and chose Cress based on their level of service, their competitive price, their vast show room and the expertise of their staff. I worked with Katie and we were blown away every step of the way. I want to share my experience with the Denver area because I truly did not have one complaint using Cress. First off, Katie gave me the most beautiful, well thought out proposal out of any other bid I got. She truly thought of everything and put so much work into it before I even moved forward. She was so conscious of my budget, she listened to all my desires and really put together the best proposal. Selecting all my finishes and products was a piece of cake with the incredible showroom at Cress. They have a huge selection and Katie has an eye for design. I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for for my bathroom tile floor and Katie actually went out and ordered more samples for me to look through to find the perfect tile. Each selection I made she helped me stay in line with my budget and explained what made sense to spend more on or be more budget friendly. I truly had a blast with Katie designing my kitchen. Now, to get started on the actual remodel. About a month before we started, Katie gave me a detailed schedule and timeline of the entire 8 week project. I knew who to expect in my home and when. I've heard horror stories of contractors taking forever, not showing up when they say, and with Cress this simply is not the case. Katie manages all the sub contractors, has everyone stick to a schedule and had open lines of communication the entire time. The subcontractors were all amazing and were long time partners with Cress. I felt comfortable with who was in my home and they all were incredible respectful and nice to talk to. We ran into two problems during our remodel, both were minor. First, due to my flooring, it made it more difficult to have a diagonal tub. And second, due to my HVAC and plumbing in the kitchen, we weren't able to completely remove the soffits like planned. With both of these minor issues, Katie came to me with solution options, how much it costs, what work it entails and what her recommendation was. I was never directly involved in any stress or issues, Katie would problem solve through them and then bring me options. This is exactly what I needed! I didn't need to be involved in absolutely everything, as I've never done this before and it was exactly why we hired the pros. We ended up spending a little extra money to make the tub diagonal and we were able to make the soffits smaller. Overall, we were almost perfectly on schedule, except for the soffit issue caused us to have to order new upper cabinets (which didn't cost us anything). The project had a 3 week pause while we waited for the upper cabinets, but my kitchen was usable through the pause. We went a tad over budget, but that was mainly due to my requests of newer features. Before we did anything that would raise the cost, Katie carefully explained to me the price increase and made sure I was okay with it. There were no surprises. Now, we truly have our dream kitchen and master bathroom!!! If you are looking for a full service designer and contractor for your house project, look no further. For a full service experience, their prices are very competitive and their work is top notch. They've been around forever and have the most incredible staff! I have recently had the pleasure of hiring Cress for my kitchen remodel. They took my entire kitchen to the studs and subfloor and replaced everything!! I am so happy that I went with Cress. Sue was my general contractor, that's what I called her because she coordinated all of the employees and subcontractors and oversaw my entire project. She is incredibly knowledgeable about every aspect of construction. There is nothing that she doesn't know!! I loved that she gave me a calendar for our project that indicated each step of the process, who would be handling that phase, what date(s) they would be here and for how long. Each of the workers that came to my house were very professional, respectful and helpful. They all went above and beyond in their scope of practice. Inevitably, things will come up that are unexpected and unforeseen. Sue and her team were great at problem-solving and critical thinking!! I would be in a panic and think the sky was falling in and Sue would handle it with grace and quickly work to resolve the issue. No problem was ever to big for her. Ultimately, my kitchen turned out more beautiful that I had even imagined. When I first had Sue out to bid the job, I told her that I had some ideas but I wanted her expertise to make the final decisions. She told me right from the beginning, that she wanted to use my ideas and promised me that she wouldn't let me make a mistake. She did use all my ideas and they turned out to be the right decisions. We contacted Cress Kitchen for our kitchen remodel and were teamed up with Amber. At first, we thought the experience and the process was going really smoothly. We were taking down some load-bearing walls and already had a good idea of what we wanted and the work that was required to get the job completed within a reasonable budget. The initial estimate came in $20k higher than we were expecting, so we had to go through the estimate and take out items that we ultimately wanted or would have to do ourselves in order to get in line with our budget. To her credit, Amber worked with us and revised our plan a couple times in order to help bring the cost of the cabinets down. Once we felt like we finally got the estimate within our budget, but we told Amber that we were not willing to sign the contract until we had a firm idea on the actual cost for some of the major line items like electrical, drywall, framing, HVAC, etc. She agreed to have her team come out to get it quoted for us. Once we received the revised quote, we were in shock. The quote was right back up to $20K over out budget and a lot of the line items that we had previously taken out were added back in. I also received a phone call saying that their contractor didn't understand the drawings our structural engineer created for our load bearing wall and that until we had them revise it, that cost was still a bit of an unknown. That is when we started to do some more due diligence on our end and get estimates from other contractors. Meanwhile, we were receiving pressure from Amber to sign the contract because the promotional deals from Medallion were about to expire and the project costs would just go up if we didn't commit and sign. In the end we were able to find highly skilled contractors for ALL of the scopes of work on the project. In addition, the contractor we selected to remove and support our load bearing wall, completely understood the structural drawings. The cost savings was the difference between us settling for lower-quality cabinets with minimal drawers and pull outs, granite instead of quartz, a smaller sink, etc. etc. We got the kitchen we wanted without having to cut corners and sacrifice on material selections. Our kitchen is beautiful and everything that we envisioned and it came in a couple thousand under budget. Our sense is that Cress caters to customers with deeper pockets and less construction and design knowledge. If you have the time to do your due diligence and GC the project on your own and have a smaller, strict budget to stick to, it is our experience that you will be better off working with other designers/contractors. read more

I had an absolutely terrible experience working with Cress. Their sales rep (Sue) was very nice, as was their receptionist Rhonda - but the experience itself was an absolute nightmare. I got the bid and picked out materials, everything was going smoothly. They told me it was going to be a 3 week job to redo my bathroom, starting the last week in May. They ordered the materials and started to tear out the old bathroom. We uncovered some unexpected issues, which is to be expected in my house given it's age - but the way their team handled it was very frustrating. First incident was when they demolished the inside of the bathroom and hit the wall so hard they cracked the wall in my livingroom, which of course - they failed to tell me and I found on my own. I had to force them to come back and fix it and they 'patched' the wall, that I had to have my painters come back and redo a second time. They tiled the entire bathroom and the work was so bad, I had to force them to come over and look at it so they would tear it out and start over. We had to wait over a month for the new materials to come in and have someone entirely new tile the bathroom the second time (which they promised us when we signed the contract that they only worked with contractors they trust - found out they contract any schmuck off the street). In the meantime, their tile guys tripped over my ethernet cord and broke my internet, and I had to pay $200 to have that fixed. I was dumb enough to ask their tile guy (before I knew he was so bad) to retile the front of my fireplace as well. He literally put in chipped tiles and I had to have him come back and start over with that too. Not only that, but he put my fireplace back without even hooking it up again which I found out after he charged me for moving and reinstalling it, and then had to pay to have a separate HVAC guy come fix that. After the tile was put in the second time, I came home one day to find the brand new cabinets I ordered were installed wrong. The drawers were crooked, the handles were put in the wrong place and they chipped the corner of the wood. Thinking I wouldn't notice, I came home the next day to find they had superglued the corner back on without saying anything. They eventually replaced the doors that were installed incorrectly and fixed the handles, but this part alone took another 6 weeks. During that process, I came home multiple days to find that they had poked holes in the ceiling, broken the fan and installed the towel hooks in all the wrong places as well. It was constant back and forth and me having to harass Sue and Rhonda, who through no fault of their own, were too busy to even come by once a month to make sure their team was doing work correctly. Because we had to remove a vent that went to the heat in my basement, I needed to have a new heater installed downstairs. Their guy came literally 3 separate times to install a cove heater (which I wasn't even sure I wanted). The first time the electrician wired it wrong and the thermostat didn't even work, which they didn't even take the time to check - I had to harass them to come back for over 2 weeks. The second time he came back, he realized I had a broken thermostat. He reordered it and the third time he came back he still didn't have the correct thermostat. Finally I had to just have them take the heater down and have a new furnace put in by someone else entirely. This was after I spent 3-4 weeks asking for instructions or background material on the heater to even see if it was something I wanted to keep - which I never received. The icing on the cake was when they sent their painter in to paint my bathroom for the 3rd time because they kept having to patch the walls for other mistakes, and he didn't take the time to speak with anyone about where the extra paint was, so he took a sample I had sitting in my kitchen for another room - that was a similar, but incorrect color - and painted 2 of the walls a different color. I had to pay someone else entirely to come back and repaint the whole bathroom because they messed it up so bad. And finally, I had to hold my final payment to them until they took the time to order spare materials for me in case anything needed to be done in the future. They didn't even leave a copy of the inspection so I knew it passed. The entire project wasn't completed until the end of November, cost me 1/3 more than what they originally quoted me and was a nightmare from beginning to end. This is really the place to go if you've won the lottery and have money burning a hole in your pocket. Otherwise, you can get quality work done for about 30-40% less than their prices. When they came out to do a bid, they sent a designer, NOT a contractor. I asked many questions that a contractor should answer in a certain way (as confirmed by the 3 other bids I got for my project). The designer didn't have a CLUE to the correct answer, and so I was very hesitant to work with them. Once I saw their prices, it pretty much sealed the deal. They were 30+% higher than the highest bid I received - eek. Their showroom is beautiful, and they have nice, high-end products. However, if you're doing a simple remodel, you can find better value elsewhere. read more

We have been trying to get quotes for the installation of a new window in our upstairs bathroom. Cress was the first to respond and at first all seemed well. After getting a good idea of what we wanted, they said they would put together an estimate and schedule a time for their window guy to come out and take measurements. After about a week of silence, I had to check back in with them about the estimate (which was actually pretty reasonable once we got it). Then after I set aside time to meet the window guy to come out, he no-showed because he went to the wrong address on the other side of town, even though I made a point of telling them what neighborhood we live in. He didn't call until the next day, when he said he would come out a few hours later and no-showed again. At this point I'm pretty glad I didn't hire them to cut a hole in the side of my house. read more

Since we used Cress Kitchen & Bath for tile in our kitchen remodel we decided to use them for a complete bathroom remodel. After deciding on shower and floor tile, toilet, sink, countertops, cabinets, faucets and paint we thought we were ready to go. Demolition began August 1, 2020 and completion date was scheduled for August 31st. We gave them our final payment in early November, 2020 when we were finally satisfied. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. After the tub & shower tile was installed it was determined that the vanity cabinet had to be moved closer to the tub which meant cutting a small piece out of the vanity (turns out it did not need to be moved at all). Because it was moved the medicine cabinet and light fixture were no longer centered so that had to be changed (which also meant the tile backsplash also had to be replaced). The water pipes in the vanity had to be moved as well which left holes in the back of the cabinet. They came back to repair the holes, then somehow chipped the edge of the cabinet which then had to be repainted to match. The sink stopped up so they sent in a plumber to unclog. Then they attempted to give us a bill for the plumber who said he removed hair from the drain. That was a joke because we were not even using the bathroom. We didn't pay that one. The medicine cabinet was inserted in the wall and when I went to open it the mirror fell off. It took them 2 weeks to fix it and we live down the street! The hand towel ring was crooked so had to be fixed and one of the vanity drawers was crooked The paint job was terrible and they had to come back to repaint which also turned out to be terrible so the 3rd time we decided to have them totally repaint two of the walls. There is more to tell, however, this should be enough for you to give serious thought before hiring Cress. It's all about their attention to detail which was seriously lacking in our experience. On a positive note, the designer and craftsmen were all personable and cleaned up each day. read more

We worked with them to get our kitchen and a small bathroom renovated. Thought we'd go with a company that does it all rather than dealing with a bunch of different contractors. Well, little did we know. The contractors were OK, the problem was the person in the office (Amber). She made countless mistakes, measuring, calculating costs, getting us on calendar, organizing material. An absolute nightmare. She also kept blaming the contractors for things she was supposed to be doing - wow. Materials used also seem very low quality, all our grouting in the bathroom needs to be redone, the kitchen sink has small holes/scratches, so does the countertop - just a year into using it. So you can't do the dishes? We saved up a long time for this low quality and exhausting experience. read more

I went to Cress to order tile and other projects for a bathroom remodel I was doing myself. I knew I was going to pay more but expected to get added customer service and support for this premium. I had two issues during my experience. I ordered the quantities of misc materials (thin-set, etc) they suggested I would need which ended up being off (some way to high and some way too low). The second and primary concern was with the timing of getting the materials. On several of my visits I asked about the lead time for the products. Each time they said it would be about a week or less. It ended up being almost three weeks to get my order in. I only found out about the delays because of my consistent follow ups with the store (they were not proactive). I took off work to do this project and I wasn't able to finish because of this. Now I'm going to have to pay someone to finish the project. Cress was mildly apologetic but gave the impression that it wasn't a big deal to them. It wasn't a horrible experience but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. If you are going to be the one to drive your remodel process, you might as well go with a cheaper place. read more

This was our second project with Cress, which was completed a week ago. Quartz counter tops, a new sink, and glass subway tile back splash. We did this to update the kitchen in our current home that we bought new 12 years ago. Everything happened precisely on schedule, from initial tear out to final inspection. Start to finish it took six business days. Most of that time was waiting for the counters to be fabricated. The final results are gorgeous. About 15 or 16 years ago they did a complete kitchen renovation in our previous home. Total tear out to bare walls and sub-floor, with new everything. Same result. And lemme tell ya, that kitchen gave the house legs when it came time to sell a few years later. We got way more in increased value than it cost us. They use nothing but top of the line materials. They have the best tradesmen in the Denver area, who are employees, not subcontractors. The designer wears two hats and is the general contractor for the project. She's been overseeing kitchen and bath renovations for over 30 years, and knows as much about the process as any contractor. You get what you pay for. Pay less and get less. Never again. Cress made nice promises, like that they job would only take a couple of weeks (it has taken 6+months and is still not done). The charged a premium price but delivered very mediocre and/or inadequate/incomplete results. Contracted to do a kitchen, new counters, tile back-splash and rebuild a few cabinets to fit a new farm-sink and raise a microwave up 4 inches. The person who seemed to be the main project-manager on the job, Gary, was a nice enough guy, but he required constant prodding to do the job right, and when you asked him to do something differently or better (I have experience in the trades, so I know what I'm talking about) he would moan and groan. He also talked a lot of trash about the main office and all the promises they make clients. I'm afraid if I hadn't been around to do quality control the job would have been messed up even worse than it so far has. Gary also felt free to walk onto my property, including into my backyard, without calling before-hand despite my having provided a cell # and instructions to call in advance. He surprised my wife once and gave her a start because she did not know who he was. After six months (yes SIX MONTHS) of waiting they apparently decided the job was done, because I just got a bill. I have a punch-list of items that have not been completed on the job. These items have all been communicated to various people who work for Cress, but I have never received an acknowledgement that these items would be completed. I cannot get a call back from the person who sold me the bill of goods for Cress "services". If you're reading this Cress, you might want to have someone call me, and it better not be Gary, who is no longer welcome on my property. read more

I have known the owners of Cress Kitchen and Bath for 50 years. I recently did a bathroom remodel with them and did not have a good experience. In the planning stages many promises and assurances were made, but once the project was started they were forgotten. There were critical mistakes made every step of the way, and because of these many mistakes I had my time wasted, I had to compromise my schedule repeatedly and the project easily took twice as long as it should have. I knew that Cress K&B was more expensive than others, so I expected their service to be better than others. It wasn't! The project was eventually completed and for the most part everything was done to my satisfaction, however it was not a good experience and I absolutely would not recommend Cress Kitchen and Bath to anyone. read more

Apparently perfect means 2 different things to Cress kitchen and bath. Our back splash in the kitchen was done not so perfectly and when they came out to inspect they argued that "you must of wanted perfect and nothing is perfect" only to call later and say that they feel it was the most perfect tile job they had seen....so which is it?? They said that if the wall is wavy then thats how the tile will be. So I hope they don't do natural tile on a floor that is uneven otherwise someone is going to hurt themselves.... If nothing is perfect then why pay top dollar for not perfect? Looks good at a distance and I guess that's all we can expect these days.....sad read more

I would highly recommend that anyone NOT use Cress Kitchen and Bath for any project. Our $40,000 bathroom remodel cost twice as much as it should have, but they made up for that by taking TWICE as long to complete it as they promised! They had to come back 3 times to repaint the bathroom because it was such a horrible job. They used the wrong type of grout in the tile floor and the grout is now cracking. One of the light fixtures they installed has been shorting-out and they told me it was because I was putting in the light bulbs with my bare hands and the sweat from my hands was ruining the bulbs. What? After their electrician came out to take a look (which took forever) he concluded that the fixture was faulty. We have been waiting for the promised replacement and of course have heard nothing from them. USE THIS COMPANY AT YOUR OWN RISK OF EXTREME DISAPPOINTMENT. read more

We have used Cress Kitchen and Bath for three remodel jobs over the past 20 years. The first was a tile job in our kitchen and bath areas twenty years ago. The second was when we remodeled two bathrooms 10 years ago. The third time was for a full kitchen/dining remodel last year. Each experience the job went as planned, and when there were issues they were quickly addressed and corrected. Although the end product is decent overall, getting there was an uphill battle all of the way. Cress advertises as a full service company but there was nowhere near enough oversight of the project for quality control. The main craftsman was very difficult to deal with and although his work was of a high standard in the beginning, it slipped dramatically by the end, and our designer never seemed to take an active interest in the project. Some of the subcontractors were good and some were not - for example, the dry wallers were excellent, but we put in a very expensive natural stone backsplash and the standard of tiling was awful. It was too risky to take it out for fear of damaging cabinets and granite, so we are stuck with it. The hardwood floor was a terrible standard and took many tries to get to an acceptable level. Overall, the 8-10 week project (as quoted initially) was just completed after 5.5 months. Before they started work we asked Cress to pull a permit on our behalf (a very normal thing to do) and when the day came to do that, the designer stood back and let the craftsman ask us why we were pulling a permit and talk us out of it (even though we were doing major structural work, plumbing, electrical - you name it). That was a huge mistake. A licensed and reputable firm should pull permits for every job. It protects everyone, but mostly the homeowner to ensure the work is of a high standard and legal. When we realized our mistake we told them we would permit it retrospectively and they tried to stop us. There were many painful fights during the project to get an acceptable quality end result. Perhaps the most painful was dealing with Jim, one of the owners. He is arrogant, condescending, and has no idea how to speak or deal with customers. He even tried to bully us to pay him $5,000 more than we owed - before the work was anywhere near complete. As mentioned, the kitchen designer did not take enough ownership to ensure the project was going smoothly, and there was very little proactive communication and problem solving, which you would expect for a project of this size. I would not recommend Cress. It was far too painful and lengthy of a process, and much of the work was not the standard you would expect until we fought (hard) to have it fixed. Even now there are places where we were simply too worn down by the experience to continue arguing, but that are not completed to the level you would expect at the price point. No reputable firm should question a customer that wants a permit. Ever. With the benefit of hindsight I can't imagine a bigger red flag to moving forward with a contractor. read more

Can't say enough about Cress. They did a complete kitchen remodel for us on our first house and we were thrilled with the results. So much so that we had them design and order our kitchen and bathroom cabinets for our second house. They do offer top-of-the-line cabinetry, tile and counter tops. However, they do have several tiers of pricing and quality. Tell them your budget, your priorities and they can find creative ways of saving you money. Our contact called us as soon as the cabinets we wanted went on sale, so we could take advantage of it. Our second kitchen was part of a larger remodel, so we used our own contractor for the installation and bought our own hardware to control the costs, and they were very flexible about this. The designer we worked with does really know all of the kitchen cabinet dimensions and options inside out and and can tell you what will or won't work in a certain space, and will print out detailed design drawings for you, which is key in making sure that it works for you and that everything will run smoothly during installation. read more

Cress recently completed a complete renovation of our master bathroom and we cold not be more pleased with the relationship and result. We had discussed the project with at least four other designers before we contacted Cress but grew frustrated because they wanted to impose their designs on our space rather than listening to our ideas. At Cress we met with Jesse Medina, a certified professional designer who finally listened to what we wanted. Jesse listened and then developed a design incorporating everything we had envisioned. He is a talented designer, a true professional and very personable as well. Cress provided a contractor who was very professional and able to do the work with a minimum of dislocation. We now have a completely modern master bath including beautiful walk-in shower, a separate soaking tub, heated tile floor and beautiful vanities and lots of drawers and cupboard space. The project was done precisely on time and on budget. Everyone on the Cress team fulfilled their duties very professionally with real enthusiasm for "getting it right", from the designer to the project manager to the contractor, the drywall crew, the electrician and the cleaning crew. Based on our experience we highly recommend Cress for a complete bathroom renovation. read more
