They aids just sit their talking Spanish to each other and talking about the patient. (They didn't know I understood) instead of caring for patient. The aids then complain if your loved one pushed their call button to much and they share a lot of their complaints with your lived ones which gives them anxiety: even when asked not too they still made a 100 year old women severely anxious about everything all the time. After evaluating a few places in south Orange County, the family decided to move her into Aegis of Laguna Niguel. The property was very nice and clean, rooms a perfect size and the philosophy to focus on enrichment & stimulation via various activities aligned perfectly with what we were looking for in an assisted living home. To ease the transition from home the team invited my mom and step dad to numerous events around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Every time mom entered the home she would smile as staff and residents would say "hi". Mom was set to move in early January but it became clear by mid-December we needed to move her in earlier, which Aegis quickly pivoted to helping make happen. One day after we had furnished her room in late December and one day before we moved in she fell at home and fractured her hip. Several days after her fall the family made the difficult decision to suspend all interventional treatment and begin end of life care. Mom was transported to Aegis of LN to her room and would spend the last days of her life there in hospice care. While the entire saga was very sad the family can't say enough of the ENTIRE (!!) team at Aegis of LN that helped us from beginning to end. They seamlessly pivoted from welcoming a new long term resident to one that would stay but a brief time. Their coordination with us, the hospital and hospice was simply amazing. Many thanks to Kurt and Marti for introducing us to the facility along with Ingrid, Andrew, Aileen, Jacqueline for their support and care...and everyone else that touched our lives in those last few days. We could see through these interactions that this is more than a job but a calling for all of you. If this is how you treat a loved one in your care for a week we can't imagine what you would have done for mom longer term. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

My primary care doctor, Dr. Serna, is amazing and always takes great care of me. I had an appointment with her today, but the office called to let me know she wasn't in and asked if I wanted to reschedule or see another doctor. Since I've been in significant ear pain, I chose to see Dr. Ashizawa just to get a referral to an ENT. My appointment was at 3:00, but he didn't come in until 3:50. After briefly looking in my ear and doing a quick ear drum test, he said nothing was wrong and that there was nothing more he could do. I asked if he could please send a referral to an ENT since I'm in a lot of pain and pressure, but he shrugged and said there was no point because they wouldn't do anything different. That's simply not true, he barely investigated the issue. I left after two hours with no diagnosis or help and am now debating whether to go to the ER or pay out of pocket to see a specialist. I'd highly recommend avoiding Dr. Ashizawa, he seemed completely dismissive and uninterested in helping his patients.

I learned that they also have a technician working on Saturday! Just came back again today for some more X-Rays and Al was extremely helpful. He was very quick with the process. When she suffered additional strokes and had to be on hospice, the caregivers and the entire wellness care staff upheld her wishes exactly as requested. My mom had been in several other care homes/situations, and I enjoyed coming to visit her at Belmont Village the most by far. The entire community from staff to other residents were super sweet and friendly, and the atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. If you have to experience transitioning a loved one to assisted living or even memory care, this is definitely the place to be!

At Belmont they truly apply research combined with be very specific individual needs of each resident. Once an Alzheimer's patient becomes a "flight risk" many facilities just make sure that they are safe and secure and give a little thought to they are quality of life which results in a rapid decline. I've visited or called every day to see if they've gotten her cable setup and they appear to be dragging their feet. There is a huge lack of communication between management, maintenance, and front desk staff that delays tasks and doesn't communicate progress with residents or their families. The other day a front desk staff members started clipping her nails while answering my questions with vague answers and "I'll leave a note" for staff who seems to always leave before the end of the day. I can't seem to get straight answers from anyone and I rarely get calls or texts back when I'm promised any. Overall, I'm frustrated with the move in and hope to see some changes in this facility soon. I'll be looking at alternative options if things don't change soon. EDIT: Katy from CSL gave me a call and we had a great chat about some of the frustrations I had regarding the delayed cable installation and communication issues. She also was able to clarify some of my questions and ease my biggest concerns/worries. She is such a sweet and caring woman, and I'm glad we were able to talk. I am very hopeful that things will go more smoothly now that some of the initial move-in bumps have been handled.

Everything goes through the Memorial Care "My Chart" app or "patient navigators" over the phone. The app is good for nothing but making appointments and looking at test results, the navigators (when you can get one on the phone) are even more useless. You cannot contact anyone in the office, not a receptionist and certainly not a doctor. There is no number you can call other than the navigators, it makes communication next to impossible. If you are looking for a doctor I would suggest a private practice, not this group conglomerate model.
