My grandma moved…read morein on Tuesday to an apartment with no cable TV, despite having the TV ready to go the weekend before her move in. I've visited or called every day to see if they've gotten her cable setup and they appear to be dragging their feet. There is a huge lack of communication between management, maintenance, and front desk staff that delays tasks and doesn't communicate progress with residents or their families. The other day a front desk staff members started clipping her nails while answering my questions with vague answers and "I'll leave a note" for staff who seems to always leave before the end of the day. I can't seem to get straight answers from anyone and I rarely get calls or texts back when I'm promised any. Overall, I'm frustrated with the move in and hope to see some changes in this facility soon. I'll be looking at alternative options if things don't change soon. EDIT: Katy from CSL gave me a call and we had a great chat about some of the frustrations I had regarding the delayed cable installation and communication issues. She also was able to clarify some of my questions and ease my biggest concerns/worries. She is such a sweet and caring woman, and I'm glad we were able to talk. I am very hopeful that things will go more smoothly now that some of the initial move-in bumps have been handled.

Special thanks to Crystal and Roger, for their exceptional kindness, care and talents... they are wonderful ! Crystal, the activities director, organized engaging activities and Roger's singing added a special touch, my father just loved his entertainment, happy hour and exercise class. He created moments of happiness ! Their dedication and compassion, along with the support of the staff, created a warm environment that positively impacted my father's last years of his life. From the moment we first walked in, the warmth was immediate. John smiled and said, "This feels like a place where I'll be truly cared for." And he was. Nurses & Caregivers: The nurses were attentive, skilled, and compassionate. Even during John's final days, I was never alone--someone was always there to check on me, offer a hug, or sit quietly by my side. Silverado hospice supported not just John, but me, with such calm and clarity. The activities team gave John joy--he baked cookies, arranged flowers, and always went to the music groups he loved. Leo's meals were unforgettable. Even when John only wanted ice cream and Coke, it was served with such care and dignity--like fine dining on a white tablecloth. Housekeeping, maintenance and laundry kept his space spotless and always greeted me with a hug and a smile. And the leadership were always visible, engaged, and full of love. From the front desk to the hallways, every hug and kind word made Silverado feel like home. Every person at Silverado gave something of their heart. I'm endlessly grateful. When you lose your partner, you don't just lose them--you lose the family you found at Silverado. And that's how deeply their care touches you. -- Misty Tanner

None of these options were able to meet his unique needs. The placement people we were working with were sensitive to this and suggested Silverado. We toured the facility, spoke with the staff, and observed resident/staff interactions. We knew we had found the perfect placement. Silverado staff from maintenance to administration are skilled in understanding the unique needs of memory care. They come from a place of "yes". Silverado provides a supportive, warm, caring, and very professional facility. Residency at Silverado would be a blessing to both the resident and the resident's family.

Secondly, you probably already know that almost all of these facilities suck and are many flavors of sketchy. NOT this place. The Orchards gives off a whole different and positive vibe from the start when you walk in the main entrance. Everything is clean, actually clean, even the patient bathrooms, closets, behind the doors, everywhere is clean. The ratio of staff to patients is SO MUCH better than other facilities my family member has been too. I believe there's maximum 50 patients. The bedrooms are next level. They have 4-5 options ranging from a shared room with two people, to completely private with your own bathroom and living room/lounge area, obviously at a higher price point. But even the shared bedrooms are awesome as they have a closet/cabinet that divides the room, not just a sheet. Makes it so much better to have that division. ***Most importantly the Rehab staff is AMAZING!!!*** The amount of effort and thought they put into the individuals rehabilitation program is far greater than any other facility we have been to. They aren't trying to milk the process and allow people to just sit doing non productive activities just so they can bill for it. They're constantly assessing and evolving the game plan as they go. 10/10 best team of therapists. hands down. bar none. The staff communicates extremely clearly and reach out if they have pertinent info in regards to my family members health, progress, and well being. Which is something I've never experienced, usually I have to track people down and it's like pulling teeth to get answers or info. The food is good, and comparably to other places it's the best menu I've seen. Don't get me wrong it's not gourmet living but they have solid options. When you see a plate of food, it actually looks a cooked meal, not school lunch slop. They also have off menu items like sandwiches and what not if your family member is a picky eater. If you got this far in my Mega novel of a review then you obviously are deep in the process and looking for answers. Again, sending you all my good energy and if you can get your family member into The Orchards, don't hesitate and end up in another depressing SH**hole, pull the trigger and give your family member the best chance at success. Much love -Rich

Every single staff member was wonderful and truly went above and beyond. Sara K, Elizabeth (Liz), and Dee were exceptional--compassionate, attentive, and always making sure my mom felt cared for and supported. Our only regret is that we can't return on a private-pay basis to continue PT/OT, because my mom left stronger than when she arrived. Thank you to the entire Orchards team for your kindness, professionalism, and exceptional care. We highly recommend The Orchards. Thank you again!

We transferred both mom and dad over 3 years ago. He was already on hospice and she was just ready for assisted living. Thus, they moved into 2 separate rooms as we knew he would predecease her soon. What a breath of fresh air! Caring, professional, long-term management and staff. Beautiful and spotless facility inside and out. Wonderful activities and special events. Amazing dining experience. My dad boasted to friends and family that he felt like he was at home. He loved to sit by the fireplace and read. Mom loved bingo and scrabble with friends. And, when each of my parents health began to fail, Aegis was quick to recommend extra care and eventually hospice, letting them live out their life and die peacefully.

People tend to think that assisted living is for people who are ill. She is 96 and the upkeep on her home was just getting to be too difficult. Aegis provided relief from that but more importantly has given her fun activities and new friends. The staff there is wonderful, friendly and can help if health issues do arise. They communicate consistently, provide a welcoming and pleasant environment, and have many daily activities and weekly outings. There are separate areas for memory care patients and assisted living, and the grounds and rooms are really lovely, I'm writing this because if you have an elderly loved one considering a move such as this, I wouldn't hesitate to have them move here. The socialization is a huge thing and I think her days are much happier than when she was living alone, even if she doesn't need much assistance at this time. Was definitely the right move and better sooner than later. Thanks to all the staff at Aegis for providing a great "home" for our seniors.

Our experience has been nothing less than outstanding. The staff has been extraordinarily helpful with every little question or need we've had. They even brought us meals our first few days while we were trying to move in and unpack! Now that's above and beyond. We live in a beautifully refurbished condo with all new appliances, carpeting and paint overlooking the Pacific. The other residents have been welcoming and helpful with tips for local services and how to make the most of what Sea Bluffs offers. Now, everyone always asks about the food. I'm not going to lie and say it's gourmet cuisine, but it's good, healthy, plentiful and with plenty of choices. On the days I don't like what they're serving for dinner or lunch I just order from their "everyday menu" and get a burger, sandwich, or salad. Similarly, the activiites are plentiful. There are exercise classes, art classes, group discussions, singing groups and my personal favorite -- water aerobics! We hated leaving our home and Pasadena but it was time to prepare for the future, get away from potential fires, and be someplace cooler. I know we made a good choice by coming to Sea Bluffs. I can't imagine any other community that would check so many boxes.

Dear Brent and Haley,…read more I hope you are both doing well. Many times I have wanted to reach out and say how grateful we are to have my mom here at Sea Bluffs. I have worked in several residential settings throughout my career: A high school boarding school, college dormitories, and group homes for people with severe mental illness. I know there are many challenges in these types of settings, but from our experience with Sea Bluffs, we (my mom, sister and I) feel like every staff experience we have had in the last year-and-a-half has been top notch. We feel like everyone that works regularly with my mom on the Care Team is so kind, thoughtful, and anticipatory of her needs etc., and we soooo appreciate it. Also the maintenance staff has been very responsive, kind and respectful in all of their interactions, and the dining staff is always wonderful! Some stand outs to me, for what it's worth are Donna, Christine, Carmen, Jay, and Martha. Again, I think everyone's great, but these folks have consistently been excellent. And Jay is literally everywhere all at once :) I truly don't know how Donna does what she does, she has been a phenomenal presence since she was hired shortly after my mom arrived here. Always smiling, always helpful, an excellent communicator, always good at problem solving, always swift acting, always going above and beyond. She is a treasure! And of course with the two of you at the helm of overseeing all the hiring and training and culture building, I'd like to send along my gratitude to the two of you as well! Thanks for everything!
