Went in there to get new ski boots for my son and me. They tried to fit my son into a size 25 boot when he measured to be a size 27. We requested to try on a size 27 and they said they did not have 27 in stock but did have size 25. My son's toes were curled up in size 25. Salesperson said "boot will pack out". Wrong, wrong wrong. They will not pack out two sizes. They tried to sell us a boot they had in stock knowingly it was wrong size. It was more important for them to move inventory than selling us the correct boot. We said we will not be buying the boots and then they said "oh we can have a pair of 27's shipped down from another store but you would have to pay shipping of $50". We said only if you waive the shipping. They refused so we said "no". They tried the same thing with me. Tried selling me a pair of boots that did not fit just because they did not have my size in stock. I went to a local competitor and they had correct size in stock and offered free heat molding. My son and I skied them last winter and they fit perfectly. Cripple Creek does not have your best interests in mind. Only thing they care about is moving inventory. This is so unfortunate. Not a fan of this store/company. Their motto should be "we just want to make money and don't care about fitting you correctly." Be cautious with these people. Do your homework as they do not appear to care about your interests. Go elsewhere. read more

I've had multiple skis mountains & bought a pair of boots with custom footbeds. They were great in making some boot adjustments after a few weeks of skiing. I planned a back country trip in CO from NYC and worked with River at Cripple Creek in Denver. Set me up with the exact equipment I needed (skis/skins/bindings). Flew in to Denver in the morning. Fantastic service, and a commitment to helping out a fellow skier. I am in CO for a couple weeks and one of my AT boots needed a repair. Jewel at the Carbondale store was very helpful over the phone and told me to drop by their store. Sure enough, they were able to fix my boot! That means I can ski while I am in town, and it's a good bet that I will be ordering gear from them in the future. Super amazing experience at Cripple Creek with a boot fitting with Alex! Very clean and covid safe environment. Alex helped me out try on some AT boots and explain a lot about the technology. He was very knowledgeable and informative. Very clear that he cares about finding the right boot for the customer! He also showed me a nice selection of AT bindings. I went to the new Avon location which is in a great space with ample parking/easy access. I met with Doug who was super knowledgeable, helpful, and really cares about sharing his backcountry expertise with the customer. He helped me find the right alpine touring setup for me, to include Black Crows Camox Freebird skis which are the envy of all my friends, boots, bindings and climbing skins. Both of us needed boot adjustments to get things right - and we were so pleased with a) the quick turnaround and b) the effective result. It took a few tries on my cranky feet but JP (Avon) and Mike (Carbondale and everywhere) collaborated on the just-right boot punch to make my uphills and downhills awesome. These guys are top notch - experts in back country, quality gear and the staff is super helpful. Customer service is second to none. A super friendly employee (I think his name was Matt) even exchanged the skins my husband bought me as a gift two years ago that I hadn't had a chance to use (even though we had no receipt and couldn't find a record of the sale). I realize that buying anything on the internet is always a gamble but is it my responsibility to assume that a cheap price means shoddy merchandise? I bought a pair of super-hammered skis with BD 01 bindings for $150.00 not realizing that there was a no-return policy on used equipment. I have not contacted BD directly to see if there is any way that they can help me as I thought that would be a waste of time but I did talk to your customer service dept. where I learned that I was SOL. The Vail Shop has a lot to improve on if it wants to last in the Valley. We dropped off 2 ski set ups (skis, bindings, boots) and a 3rd pair of boots for their ski swap in the fall. When we called to see the results of the swap, they said nothing sold in the swap, but a friend is going to buy one set up, a ski shop in Utah is buying the other ski set up and the 3rd pair of boots didn't sell. Unfortunately we waited for them to contact us to finalize the sale(s). We finally called at the end of December to wrap up the deal(s). Now they said that nothing sold. Yes, we should have called sooner, but now it is 2 months later and they never contacted us to say the deal(s) fell through. The lack of communication and professionalism from this place will prevent me from ever stepping foot in their store again. Beware! read more

Cripple Creek Backcountry has what your looking for with a knowledgeable staff that will fit your equipment properly. Bought a pair of boots from the guys at CCBC, they were polite and understanding in discussing options, they took the time to review the choices and really explain the pros and cons of each pair. Would highly recommended to others, as I will continue to look to Doug & Randy for my backcountry equipment needs. If your looking to be outfitted on a budget you can probably find deals cheaper online however, if you want your gear to fit & function as it was designed too, talk with the guys at CCBC and save yourself an ER visit. I would rather be writing a good review for a local business, but I can't. Cripple Creek is a shop which I will never use. Frankly, they are untrustworthy and disrespectful. In the shop, among other things, they didn't respect my wife's opinion of her own skiing ability (their attitude was, "she's a girl, so what does she know."). Being a PSIA certified instructor (at Beaver Creek), I can tell you my wife knows her skiing ability very well. Next, we rented AT gear (April 15th) as part of their SATURDAY SPRING SKIN- BREWS & BURGERS. The rental charge was $50 per set of skis and boots, plus there was a $100 deposit for each set of equipment (2 sets). Cripple Creek has run the charge for the deposit, and we were charged $300 for a 2-hour rental. Though I have disputed the extra $200 charge with Visa, Cripple Creek is claiming that the extra $200 is valid. NO WAY!! We returned the equipment, undamaged and we have witnesses. read more
