I went in for a mount on a new pair of skis and asked explicitly for the skis to be detuned while they were in the shop. I came in the next morning and was told they did not detune the skis despite me explicitly asking on the sheet I was given. I was treated as if I didn't understand what I was talking about as the man helping me told me they "didn't recommend doing that on a new pair of skis" I have skied since I could walk and have had my skis detuned the last 5 years of my life immediately after coming out of the packaging. I paid $77 for the mount and wasn't given half of what I came to do. Will be going anywhere else to get my skis done. I highly recommend Incline, just across the way down the hall from Gorsuch at the base of Aspen. read more

Way better service than Four Mountain Sports! Showed up after Four Mountain said they'd do a hot wax for "$14.95." He even put us on hold to double check. We show up, and Four Mountain says it's $49.95 for a tuning. We just threw in the towel and went to Hamilton's for our $18 hot wax. read more

This review is really for the Aspen Whitewater Rafting, which operates out of Hamilton Sports... I went on a whitewater rafting excursion with them and had a blast! They take you for a half day to a river nearby, provide equipment (including wetsuits and booties), and in no time you're on the water having fun. As far as I can tell, they're pretty good about safety: they gave us a pretty detailed safety briefing before we left, and the guys really seemed to be knowledgeable on the water. Remember to bring sunscreen. About $80 per person. read more

Excellent service. I lost a basket off my ski poles and went looking for a place that could fix me up. First tried 4 mountain and got a bunch of attitude. Walked across the courtyard to Hamilton and was immediately helped. 5 minutes and $10 later I was back in business with new baskets on both poles. Incidentally I noticed that a lot of people were buying gear. For a place like Aspen that caters to a high end crowd, that is a good sign. They'll make sure you're set up 100%. This shop single handedly made my trip to Aspen. I was traveling with my father and they took great care to make sure we had the right equipment that suited our skill level. The demos they have are top of the line, and they allowed us to switch gear mid trip since we wanted to try different type of skis on a powder day. The staff knows you by name and goes out of their way to make your trip. Emily, Greg, and Bridget helped us and went above and beyond in every fashion. I'm not one to usually write reviews but this shop deserved a few minutes of my time. Lastly the shops locations can't be best. It's at the bottom of the Ajax Gondola so it was super easy to get gear in the morning. We didn't find what we were looking for but they made SURE I had many other options on a card with other names of businesses for me to visit and find what I needed. On the other hand, we rented skis from them and they were also amazing on customer service. One morning the skis and boots were laid out ready for my fiancé to jump into! My friends and I did a morning white water adventure on the river with AWR which operates out of Hamilton Sports in Aspen. Reid was our guide and we were so impressed with him! Reid brought along extra sizes of gear just in case, which I ended up using because the shoes ran big. He took time to get to know us individually, and was very encouraging and patient with us, a great teacher and leader. He stayed calm and was not rude or obnoxious. He made the entire experience enjoyable by setting the tone for a very classy, adventurous ride down the river. I could tell he really loves doing his job, and so in turn we really enjoyed our time going down the river with him. This is a great company to use for a rafting adventure because they take the time to get to know you, and they tailor the ride to your needs and interests. Hamilton is conveniently located on 520 E Durant, across the street from the Gondola. With a three day advance online registration Hamilton's rates are about the lowest in Aspen. Our demo skis were excellent K2 models new to this season and all of the gear was in excellent condition. They never have long lines like other shops so its super easy to get in an out quickly. They update their rental skis annually, so they always have the newest most up to date quiver in town. And they allow you to store your skis and boots (on boot dryers!) overnight at no additional cost to your rental package! Lots of options in Aspen when it comes to renting (demoing) top of the line ski equipment. The one thing most of these shops have in common is they don't have the skis you want to demo, and the advice on which ski in which length often seems less than convincing. Cut to the chase: Hamilton Sports. There is no ski they purport to stock (primarily Austrians) that you can't get on and the boot inventory is deep as well. Maybe best of all is the lack of tude. You tell the very knowledgeable, friendly staff that you're going over to Highlands to ski the bowl and they will make sure you're on the right boards. You rent for more than a day and it's first name basis...Gear and ski apparel is more stylish and practical than most shops that only sell gear. Bottom line: the easiest decision you can make in Aspen is where to rent top-of-the-line skis- Hamilton Sports (they even have a resident Corgi). read more
