They also offer wraps and bang energy drinks. I feel like they are really geared towards the fitness community, which makes sense with 9 round being right there. With that said, during busy times this place is a step away from hectic and not worth the wait if you're pressed for time. The drinks are very good, and with no extras making it impossible to distinguish tastes. It's a pricey alternative to at home smoothies, but far healthier than the sugar-laden options available elsewhere. If a pre-selected flavor variety isn't quite what you want, you can add or substitute choices, but know that's where the price adders will come. Anyone who has spent time in the pacific islands more than likely knows and has drunk it. Although it's not the first place to offer kava in billings, it's the first kava bar. As you enter, the laid back atmosphere is obvious. The person behind the bar, sometimes the owner, will immediately ask if you have been in or had kava before, and if not, happily run through the spiel about kava, what it purports to do, or does not do, how it tastes and then make recommendations. If you've never seen ground kava before, it looks like any powdered mix to which you add the liquid of your choice. There are many flavor options here, and much depends on whether you want to taste the kava, or just experience the purported effects. Because it's not alcohol, you can grab one to go. However, even though it isn't alcohol, it does come come with warnings regarding interactions with drugs, increased heart rate, and, the potential for abuse. It seems that a lot of "fun" things can be abused, so no surprises, there. One of things kava purports to do, in addition to the feeling of well-being, is increase sociability. Well, based on my short time at Kava Roots, they might be on to something, because there were a lot of relaxed, talkative people. Kava Roots is a cute place, offering something different, and makes it feel like you're away from the grind and on your way to the beach. While I don't know that it will become a regular place for me, I did enjoy it enough that I won't hesitate to visit again. So could I make this coffee at home? Sure. And I have. But that's not the point. It's just not the same when served by a friendly face (no judgement, here), and tastes good enough to get my day started in the face of certain challenges to come. As a drive-thru only coffee shop located just off a busy intersection, they're competing with the other local shops but fortunately for them, no-other drive-thru is in the immediate area. When you order your beverage (they have way more options than just coffee), a pleasant voice will tell you to "scoot around" to the pick-up window. At first, I thought this was just a clever introduction, but no, they say that to everyone every time. It's sort of cute, but sometimes not so much. As for the coffee, it doesn't wow me. It is good, it has caffeine, the workers are friendly, but the coffee itself is nothing spectacular. The prices here are consistent with the market. I might be the only one who thinks that because that drive-thru window is crazy busy especially on weekends. Like most chain places, Scooters has an app that will let you collect points toward a free drink. I've been to this location several times, and despite scanning the app before paying, I've never accumulated any points, so don't count on it working for you. It's a new location though, so perhaps they're still working out the system glitches. The Scooters logo on the cups is smile-worthy and sometimes that's enough. I'd visit here again just for that -- seriously!
