I was very happy with my experience. They do a few things different (for the better) from most of the Mongolian grills I've been to, including other Hu Hot locations. The drinks are self-serve which speeds things up. They offered house sauces if you don't want to try to figure out which combination matches your tastes. They offer ice cream for dessert. You're given a card to flip on the table when you're finished, eliminating the risk of them accidentally cleaning your table and seating another guest before you've left. The pricing is fair. Then hand it over to be grilled while you watch. Then, sit down & enjoy. And you can go back as many times as you want. Most of the meats are frozen. I moved to Billings from West Tennessee in 2004. Shortly after moving to Billings, we discovered HuHot and we fell in love with this place. In 2006, I moved back home to West TN. Today, I returned to Billings for the first time since my last visit in 2009 and HuHot was 1st on my list. This place is mostly like I remember it. Still so many great protein and vegetable/fruit choices and there is a large sauce selection. I brought my sons this time and they'd heard all about how much I loved HuHot and I think they really enjoyed it too! Pretty straight forward restaurant. Enter the restaurant, stop at the desk and pay, then go fix your drink and bowls. The employees were very nice and the ice cream station is a plus! We will be back and I would recommend HuHot to anyone visiting Billings. I hope you enjoy as much as we did! read more

Great atmosphere, employees and food. You pick your size bowl and either fix it ala carte or pick a recipe from the marquis board to follow. Either way, you can't go wrong. The cooks take your bowl of concoction, word of advice, if you like meat, get the big bowl and load up on meat as it is flash frozen and sliced very thin so when being cooked. It will shrink to almost nothing. So pile on the meat, trust me. The cooks like to joke and show off their skill while working the grill, fun to watch. Then they put it back in your bowl when it is fully cooked. Goes great with some Sake. read more

Went on a Saturday night, place was busy, but had open tables and no line to get in. Got our food, which I do have to say was really good. The reason for two stars was the rude person who asked us to "not come back". There was two of us, and while we were eating we saw that some friends had come into eat and did not see us, so we decided to sit at the table next to them. Not knowing what to do with the plates on our existing table I went to the cashier/hostess and let them know that we were moving tables. I was chastised for moving tables, told it was not allowed, and asked never to come back if I felt I needed to move tables again. The young woman ridiculed me for not "knowing how much work" I caused by moving tables. I am certain I will eat here again, the food is good, and I am guessing the young woman was having a bad day, and that the service will be better the next time. Hopefully management will take the opportunity to see this review and offer some customer service training. read more

Pretty good Mongoluan BBQ for a place that has sliced, frozen meats. Lines move quickly, even when they're busy. Pluses: pre mixed sauces - if you want kung pao or teriyaki flavor, etc., they have those. None of that "two scoops of this and one scoop of that" recipe BS. Needs improvement: fresh cubed meats instead of sliced, frozen meats which tend to dry out and can be too big to eat in one piece. Although the cooking line moves quickly, it would be better if you could just drop off your bowls and go sit down and either your cooked dish is delivered to you, or there's a number system that alerts you when it's ready to pick up. read more

Accidentally stumbled across this place. Walked in having no idea what the meals even consisted of. Staff was really friendly and helpful. The concept of the restaurant was one we have never experienced and were very impressed. There were many options of meats, veggies, and sauces to choose from. Having that many options on a buffet style was incredible. The sauce area was messy but every other part of the restaurant was very clean. My wife and I like going to this place. You can create your own stir fry and I usually pick a minimal amount of meat but load up on vegetables and noodles. They have a lot of sauces to choose from but I usually douse mine with a lot of the spicy sauces and mix in some of the garlic and oyster sauces. Good place, good food and good price. read more

I wish I could give this place a better review. We arrived around 1:30 pm. The girl at the front desk was cordial. It was not busy at all. We started to go through the line - no beef, very little chicken or pork. The onion and green pepper containers were full, but they looked like they had been frozen and looked slimy and milky. Huhot is great for a lunch quickie ($7.99 from 11-4 pm). I usually go for lunch, as dinner is 12.99 and I am a poor college student. A Mongolian Grill-type restaurant, you are seated, give your drink order to the waitress, and then you're off on a quest to make what you hope to be a good noodle dish. Easy! Suggestions: 1) Use the recipe cards (The "Curry up already" is my favorite!). It helps you get the flavoring you want in your dish. From those, I learned that I was not putting nearly enough sauce so I usually ended up with a bland dish and rarely was a returning customer. 2) If you're like me and are nutrition-conscious, while you order your drink, request for brown rice instead of white. As for your noodle dish, use their wheat-based yakisoba noodles. 3) Grab two bowls. One to put your noodles and meat; the other to put your vegetables and sauces in. 4) Enjoy your food! Since they are an "all-you-can-eat," you cannot bring any leftovers home. Trust me, I tried cheating the system. I told someone I was going to Billings and the first thing they said was "You should eat at HuHot!" After some explaining of exactly what HuHot was I eager to swing by here and grab a meal. Its a Mongolian Grill... Grab a whole bunch of raw food, pour a variety of random oils/seasonings together and give it to some guy to cook on a circular hot flat grill. Its 12 bucks, which seems more expensive than other Mongolian places I've eaten at in bigger cities, but what the hey. The all you can eat meals were supplemented with your choice of optional salads. There was a house and an Asian themed salad. I had the Asian one, it had a vinaigrette and ramen noodles on top. The selection of frozen items to get grilled were fairly average. There's beef, pork, chicken, imitation crab, sausage, and a frozen seafood medially. There's wheat and regular noodles along with every veggie under the sun to throw on. There's probably 40 or so oils and liquid seasonings to throw together to flavor your dish. They recommend at least 5 ladles of seasoning but no more than one of oil. If you're lost at what you should combine, there's cards with flavor profiles directing you to spoon together a few specific flavors for a certain type of dish. I was a little put off at how messy the flavor station was, they should have a guy wipe it down every 15 mins or so. Service was good, its mostly do it yourself but you have a waiter to take your salad and drink orders. They kept our drinks filled and had brewed iced tea so I was fine with that whole part of the dining experience. We order desserts which were pretty good. It was ice cream and cream filled ragoons. Overall, it was a unique dining experience that you don't find many places. If you're not scared of making your own dishes this is your joint. If you don't want to put in alot of work and have your food served to you... this is not your place. But as the first place I was directed to eat at in Billings, it did not disappoint. read more

Ew. It's very dirty inside. The sauce table is a mess and my husband used the word "rancid" to describe a piece of meat he had just eaten from his dish. I will never go back. It's also expensive for a small bowl of noodles and canned items that they leave to burn on the grill because they do not mix and stir it around.
