First timers, (outta town traveling through) Found this place and was very impressed. We didn't have any specialities but we sat in the bar area and our service was EXCELLENT! Our waitress was very attentive, full of energy and always kept an eye on us. We split 3 apps: Wings - great tasting and had a nice crunch to the texture as compared to the fatty, slimy type. Calamari- great flavor on the long strips. Cooked perfectly! Seared Ahi Tuna - seared perfectly although not best I've ever had (being a Sushi snob) excellent taste and dipping sauces. Atmosphere was great for its size and pretty busy for what was a Wednesday afternoon. Would eat here again

I really really like this place. The southwest salad with blackened shrimp was amazing and we also ordered the Reuben sandwich. I don't really like that they say no splitting of dishes but the food was very good and it's OK. I understand. If I were looking for a place when I travel through again, I would love to come back here.

This is my absolute favorite restaurant in Billings! The service is amazing and attentive to your needs/wants. The food is mouthwatering and the drinks are just a cherry on top. Every time our family has a special occasion we always go to Jake's.

Our server Layne is the BEST! She has a bubbly personality and very attentive and positive. It's such a pleasure dealing with someone that has a positive personality. I ordered a Woodford Reserve Manhattan with Antica Sweet Vermouth, made by Jen and it was fantastic and done to perfection. Coconut Shrimp is superb, good recommendation Layne. We love Laynes personality. The French Onion Soup is a BOMB, SUPER! The Chicken Piccata is To Die For! Wow!

The water glass served to me had Bloody Mary mix salt still stuck on it. Whatever cleaning solution they are using stinks in the bar and the servers were complaining about it as well. The Big Montana Steak salad has a lot going on. For $24 I was hoping for steak less chewy. This is a popular menu item but I think I will try something else.

Having been a longtime patron of the Rex Hotel back when it was first restored…read morein the 1980s, imagine the delight when you find an old haunt reimagined and refreshed for today's patrons. The interior is western themed, naturally, and overstuffed with atmosphere not to mention the seats. Great views of the bar and kitchen, you can watch a crew hard at work. The courtyard seating remains delightful but on a Billings Friday night in the historic railroad district it was loud, but good times. The setting and service are top-notch. The Menu is expansive for a Montana steakhouse, lots, lots of choices besides the beef, with wonderful sides, and salads. Solid wine and beer list but imaginative cocktails. Do try the Orange Nor'easter, a blend of bourbon, ginger beer, maple syrup and ginger beer that is a great summer drink. The NY strip was superb--wish the more expensive places back in the east would send their folks out west to learn how to grill steak. Seared with a crispy outside but perfect medium rare on the inside. The steak bites appetizer was a meal into itself, and spot on in its prep. Loved the deluxe mashed potatoes. Beet salad was fresh and zingy. Even the bread service was superior. The wait staff did a great job of explaining everything. But they couldn't convince us to do desserts--bet they are top notch too. Maybe next time. We opted for another round of cocktails on a warm summer night when at this place Billings lived up to its motto of being the "Magic City"

If you're looking for a steakhouse in Billings, this is the spot!…read more We wanted a really good last meal in Billings and wanted local beef. This was definitely the right move. The meat portions are huge, like 16-20 ounces for each cut, so unless you're starving, definitely consider splitting between two people. Each cut is served a la carte with the sides meant to share for the table. I didn't do that and ordered the butter aged ribeye, and my husband and I shared the escargot, lobster mac and cheese, and their vegetable of the day which was a stuffed pepper. The steak was INCREDIBLE. I finished it all, even though I was then very full for multiple days. I loved the escargot as well, it was so cheesy and buttery. The Mac and cheese is also a stand out, definitely order it, so delicious. The stuffed peppers weren't great, I didn't really like them. They had too much going on flavor-wise that didn't really work. If I were to go back, I'd get a more standard steakhouse side like broccoli or asparagus. To drink, I ordered the gin fizz. It had little bits of lavender on top and you could really taste it in each sip, but it wasn't overpowering. Very delish. The service was great throughout the evening. I also thought the restaurant was beautiful with tall ceilings, beautiful bar, and the tables and chairs were beautiful (and comfortable).

The historic charm and atmosphere make this place something special. The ladies started with the jalapeño margaritas, and I kicked things off with an Old Fashioned made with bourbon--both were excellent. The staff was friendly, welcoming, and genuinely engaged, making us feel right at home. For dinner, I ordered the ribeye with French onion soup and a baked potato, and every bite was outstanding. The steak was cooked perfectly, the soup was rich and flavorful, and the baked potato was the perfect complement. If you're visiting Billings and looking for a classic steakhouse with incredible food, warm service, and timeless character, Jake's Downtown is an absolute must-visit. I'll definitely be back!

Our waiter was young but seemed to have trouble understanding the orders, ok no big deal. Then he had to clarify my drink request, again no big deal. Salads and soup came out, my onion soup was very good. A major disappointment was "we are out of baked potatoes " which seems odd since one of the potato options is made with baked potatoes?? After some time our entrees came out. My ribeye was actually cold but the mashed potatoes were hot so obviously the steak sat waiting on other entrees, we only had 4. I told the waiter to tell the chef and he said he would, not would you like me to take it back? Another entree was the chicken dish which was requested to have sauce on the side, his response was "I wrote it down", again not "would you like me to have it fixed " I guess if you go push your server to make it right.

Restaurant was about half full of diners and there were several servers on staff. We were seated quickly and our very friendly server attended to us just as quickly. Seasoned very strongly and matched well with the au jus. Fries were crispy and delicious as well. One of my employees ordered the bacon wrapped meatloaf. I didn't try that but did take a few of his brussel sprouts - easily the best brussel sprouts I've ever had. Rich and buttery but still with a nice crunch from the char. So good! We ended…read moreup here because we needed something open late and their kitchen was open till 11 which is not common it seems in Billings. If you're an iced tea drinker, I highly recommend getting a spiced iced tea. I was skeptical at first, but it's actually just cinnamon iced tea and was lovely. I had the nachos with ground beef. The sauce was not a generic out of the can sauce. the chips were crisp and the ground beef was well seasoned. The only complaint I have if I have to have one is that the jalapeños were very thickly sliced and took over the entire flavor of any bite they were in; a smaller dice on them would've allowed for the jalapeños to be spread out over the entire nacho and not overwhelm the rest of the flavors. My companion had the mushroom Swiss burger with fries and said they were both a solid burger and fries no complaints. Wheelchair accessibility: accessible parking across the street with a crosswalk; the front door is heavy so you're gonna either need help or be able to open a heavy door and there's actually two doors but plenty of room to maneuver between. the path of travel wasn't bad and there's wheelchair accessible seating in the back of the restaurant. There is no wheelchair accessible seating in the bar area. The bathroom door was light .The accessible stall in the women's bathroom had a grab bar, but there was not sufficient turning radius and the soap was up a little high.
