I recently visited this location and was bummed out because it looked like it was closed for renovations, but I did not see a sign that stated it. Crispie Crème Donut in Chillicothe, Ohio Took a trip yesterday, 7 June, Saturday, to Chillicothe, OH, from Springfield, OH! Stopped by Crispie Creme Donut (no I didn't spell it wrong)! The shop and the donuts, were nothing like what I expected (I guess I expected a bigger shop and larger variety). There were maybe 4 or 5 counter persons (very friendly by the way), and helped us pretty quickly. The place was clean and had a couple places to sit for coffee and whatever. We met some friends at a nearby restaurant for some lunch, leaving the dozen donuts in the back of the car. An hour later, we started back home. Got home and tried a couple donuts! The crème filled long john and cake donut, was not quite a good buy, but man, the other donuts! Had the apple filled cinnamon roll, the sugar powder creme filled, cinnamon roll, and the glazed twists and they were absolutely delicious, only place better is a place in Zanesville, OH. These donuts were soft enough to melt in your mouth, but firm enough to not fall apart! The next day, Sunday, they tasted just as fresh as they were the day we bought them! I will definitely be back for some more donuts (means nothing to drive 1 1/2 hours for good donuts)! Great job Crispie Creme Donuts! You have a new and lifetime customer! See you soon! This is a great place to get donuts! I stopped bye for the first time and the girl at the counter was right there to get me what I wanted, which was 2 dozen donuts (priced right for sure!) so I can say the service is excellent. Right as I walked in the decor was retro yet very up to date (ambiance reminded me of an old time donut shop)! They are cakey, not airy, and lovingly made. There's a small counter for coffee, filled with regulars, and it can get super busy at any time. Today we stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, and it looked closed. We were the only ones there. But before we even finished our order the lot was overflowing and people were pouring in. We got a mixed dozen to take to a gathering, and I got a half dozen to take home. Yum. Yum yum yum. Fresh, soft, each variety perfect. Get plenty, they won't last long. Reasonable prices. I was very pleased with this Rounded dining area older donut shoppe, it was exactly what I was looking for. That older diner feel and a rounded counter top with lots of windows made me feel like I was in the 50s!!!! Tony and I stopped about 5:30am on Saturday Sept 14th, there was two workers at the counter and quite a few in the kitchen making more delicious smelling baked goods and with the windows you can watch the floor show!! It was fun to watch!! There were a couple local regulars talking, eating some sugary goodness and drinking coffee that smelled so good!!! I don't drink coffee but love the aroma reminds me of my youth!!! Tony ordered a bismark filled with vanilla custard and a chocolate glazed donut, with a white milk. I ordered the lemon powder sugar coated sweetness and a pepsi...OMG, I was in heaven and would have loved another but too much sugar straight to my veins like that sends me to night night land so I had to stop at just one... One of my favorites is the Fudgies, a little round ball of heaven, with glaze also love the strawberry, frosted and orange, frosted with zest in the frosting.
