There is also a reason you go in there any morning and the entire counter is filled to capacity with old timers drinking coffee and yapping for hours. I recently visited this location and was bummed out because it looked like it was closed for renovations, but I did not see a sign that stated it. Love their doughnuts a real treat that we only got when ever we would leave our house in circleville on our way to Florida, first stop crispie cream. A box of doughnuts in the back of our station wagon and then on the road to Florida, my childhood, Loved it! Crispie Crème Donut in Chillicothe, Ohio Took a trip yesterday, 7 June, Saturday, to Chillicothe, OH, from Springfield, OH! Stopped by Crispie Creme Donut (no I didn't spell it wrong)! The shop and the donuts, were nothing like what I expected (I guess I expected a bigger shop and larger variety). There were maybe 4 or 5 counter persons (very friendly by the way), and helped us pretty quickly. The place was clean and had a couple places to sit for coffee and whatever. We met some friends at a nearby restaurant for some lunch, leaving the dozen donuts in the back of the car. An hour later, we started back home. Got home and tried a couple donuts! The crème filled long john and cake donut, was not quite a good buy, but man, the other donuts! Had the apple filled cinnamon roll, the sugar powder creme filled, cinnamon roll, and the glazed twists and they were absolutely delicious, only place better is a place in Zanesville, OH. These donuts were soft enough to melt in your mouth, but firm enough to not fall apart! The next day, Sunday, they tasted just as fresh as they were the day we bought them! I will definitely be back for some more donuts (means nothing to drive 1 1/2 hours for good donuts)! Great job Crispie Creme Donuts! You have a new and lifetime customer! See you soon! This is a great place to get donuts! I stopped bye for the first time and the girl at the counter was right there to get me what I wanted, which was 2 dozen donuts (priced right for sure!) so I can say the service is excellent. Right as I walked in the decor was retro yet very up to date (ambiance reminded me of an old time donut shop)! Across the board this place gets 5 stars as we enjoyed all of these (better than the other similar named donut shop). read more

I know I have reviewed this; odd that Yelp would remove it, and of course I am going to write pretty much the same review I did, so... I've been going here since I was a kid, because my mom's family is from Chillicothe. It is not related to Krispie Kreme, and the donuts here are leagues better. They are cakey, not airy, and lovingly made. There's a small counter for coffee, filled with regulars, and it can get super busy at any time. Today we stopped in on a Sunday afternoon, and it looked closed. We were the only ones there. But before we even finished our order the lot was overflowing and people were pouring in. We got a mixed dozen to take to a gathering, and I got a half dozen to take home. Yum. Yum yum yum. Fresh, soft, each variety perfect. Get plenty, they won't last long. Reasonable prices. Convenient location. Decent parking, though a small angled lot. Get here when New System is closed, or go to both. read more

I was very pleased with this Rounded dining area older donut shoppe, it was exactly what I was looking for. That older diner feel and a rounded counter top with lots of windows made me feel like I was in the 50s!!!! Tony and I stopped about 5:30am on Saturday Sept 14th, there was two workers at the counter and quite a few in the kitchen making more delicious smelling baked goods and with the windows you can watch the floor show!! It was fun to watch!! There were a couple local regulars talking, eating some sugary goodness and drinking coffee that smelled so good!!! I don't drink coffee but love the aroma reminds me of my youth!!! Tony ordered a bismark filled with vanilla custard and a chocolate glazed donut, with a white milk. I ordered the lemon powder sugar coated sweetness and a pepsi...OMG, I was in heaven and would have loved another but too much sugar straight to my veins like that sends me to night night land so I had to stop at just one... If you are lucky enough to visit this location then do so. The donuts were so fresh, fluffy and delicious. The customer service here was unmatched they were very attentive and quickly placed my order. We got 12 donuts and they were all super delicious probably the best donuts I've had in life. I have loved this place since I was a little kid. They make their donuts from scratch. There are no frozen donuts being thawed out here! They have so many different options and they are never out of a kind. Every time I go to a place like Tim Horton's they are out of half the donuts. That will never happen to you here. read more

Every time we go back to Chillicothe from southern Pennsylvania we have to get Crispy Creame doughnuts. It's an independent shop that makes their delicious donuts on site. One of my favorites is the Fudgies, a little round ball of heaven, with glaze also love the strawberry, frosted and orange, frosted with zest in the frosting. I've lived in Houston, Texas, Orlando, Florida, St. Louis, Missouri in upstate New York and I visited a lot of places too and I have never had donuts as good as Crispy Cream! My daughters and I even got T-shirts a couple visits back! Seriously, though if you ever are in Chillicothe or just passing through stop at Crispy Creame and you absolutely will not be disappointed read more

We are a family owned bakery that makes our donuts fresh, all day every day. We have won Ross County's Best Breakfast, Best Bakery, and Best Downtown Coffee. We have a wide variety of donuts, along with some specialty items such as muffins, croissants, fritters, and low-fat baked cinnamon rolls.

History

Established in 1929.

Our family owned and operated bakery has been serving the highest quality donuts since we first opened in 1929 in Mulberry, Kansas. This was the beginning of the Great Depression and the era of The Great Dust Bowl. Conditions couldn't have been worse! We persevered while others tried to copy us, but could not match our love of the baking business, our sense of timing, and our commitment to the freshest donuts in town. In 1954, we brought our donuts to Chillicothe, Ohio after having moved from other Midwestern cities. Here our families have grown and so have our long term customers. When I walked inside, I discovered it's much more than a bakery--it's also a country general store stocked with homemade jams, jellies, sauces, and other locally made goodies. But let's be honest... the real reason for my visit was the doughnuts. Instead of the typical display case, Four Mile Bakery has a doughnut buffet where you put on plastic gloves and pick out your own favorites. It's a fun concept that lets you really take your time looking over all the incredible options. While I was filming, I had the pleasure of meeting the owner, Shawn. He couldn't have been more welcoming. He shared the story of the bakery, how many of their recipes were developed, and the passion that goes into what they make every day. Then came the highlight of my visit--their signature Wagon Wheel doughnut. This giant glazed doughnut is unlike any I've ever had. Most oversized doughnuts tend to be heavy, bread-like, and dense. Not this one. Somehow they've mastered the art of making it unbelievably light and airy with an almost cotton-candy-like texture. It practically melts in your mouth. It's one of the best doughnuts I've ever eaten. They also offer an impressive variety of doughnuts with all kinds of toppings and flavors, so there's something for everyone. We picked up several doughnuts along with a few items from the general store, thanked Shawn for his hospitality, and headed home. This is the best place to get donuts period. I was born here but moved to California when I was very young. Every single summer when I would come down to visit this would be the very first place I would go to eat because they don't have the real thing in California. My mom loves it as well. When I would fly home to California she would always make sure that I bought some and brought them home on the plane with me. That is how much she loves this place. I've been coming here since I was a baby. Some of the staff has become like family to me. I really enjoy the French vanilla cappuccinos. Crispie Creme's coffee can't be beat. The pumpkin donuts are divine, and I highly anticipate their return every Autumn. The prices are reasonable, and I heavily recommend visiting here. read more
