New location, same great service and taste! I have tried donuts in many states and countries and I have yet to find one better than here. Well, if I'm honest there was this Amish stand at a farmers market in Central PA that had outstanding donuts, but they only sold them a few times a year and I have no idea how to find them! This trip, I got the big boy donut, a white icing cake donut, and a pretzel. The big boy donut is a huge glazed donut as big as your head. That's right, you can hold it up to your head and it will be just as large!!! This time, however, they put a twist on them and added icing to a few. I know, sweet on top of a sweet sugary donut seems like overkill, and it was. But come on, anyone willing to eat a donut as big as his head has no problem with something super duper sweet! The other items were equally good, and I liked their new larger location. They even added a few new items since I was last there like donut holes/bites. This place continues to reign as the donut king in my estimation, and the fact that they FINALLY accept credit cards now is a huge win. read more

I see why this bakery was so popular when they moved locations! It's huge and filled with donuts, cookies, cakes - you name it. All at a decent price too. I like that you have to take a number before getting called to order. This makes it easier to walk around freely and decide what you want as opposed to standing in line and not having a view of what's available. I kept it simple and only ordered an apple fritter for myself. While it was a bit underdone in the center, I think it's because of the huge apple chunks. We arrived at opening (8am) on a Monday and had no wait & wonderful selection of donuts and other treats. I especially loved the dough sticks which had the best flavor and texture inside. Half of our dozen was dough sticks and next time I will probably get more because they seemed to disappear when I took them home. I loved the wall of donut flowers too! read more

Finally got to the new location. For paczki, of course. This used to be a dollar store, so the space is much bigger than their original one. I miss that one, used to live nearby, and it had a lot of history. But though the experience here was similar it was actually better. Parking is better. Same system of taking a number, and racks on the floor, and display cases. But the line moved more quickly, and the cases are better lit. The ladies were super friendly, and helped me out. You can see in the back more than you could at the other place. Prices are higher, but they are everywhere nowadays. They had loads of other items, but a few sweets at a time are enough for us. There was bread, all kinds of donuts, rolls, cookies, and more. It's not far from my dentist. And the candy store is in between the two. I have a feeling I'll be picking up treats twice now as a reward. read more

Wonderful longtime bakery in a new location. Spacious inside and you take a number then wait for them to call it and browse beforehand to be ready to order. The display of all items are so inviting. Glaze and cake donuts, eclairs, cookies, cakes and fritters. I bought some peanut butter cookies, red velvet donut, glaze donut, custard filled donut, and an apple fritter. I have been to the other location on Livingston Avenue which was very small. The new Gahanna location is much bigger and has more parking in it too. We got here on a Saturday morning just after they opened so we thought. They had actually opened 30 minutes earlier than we expected. When you walk in you pull a number and wait for it to be called. Almost felt like I had walked into the DMV. lol We peeked at the display counters while we waited and tried to have our orders ready when it was our turn to expedite the wait for those after us. There were a few shelves that displayed various cookies, breads and things you could grab and go. The place was clean and the process was orderly. They seemed to keep things in the front stocked. We probably waited about 15 minutes. I pulled number 90 and the were calling the last of the 60's. We ordered several items to try including the packzis with three different fillings since we went at the right time of year for these. We grabbed a cheese, strawberry and lemon. We also chose a cheese danish, maple cream stick, apple fritter, cherry turnover and a donut stick. Once we told them what we wanted the girl helping us went to the back and started filling our box. A few moments later she returned, we paid and headed out the door with our sweets. My husband didn't want to wait so we opened up the box once we got to the car and each took one bite from each of our selections. We didn't find anything wrong with our choices. The one thing I was thrown off by is how they make their apple fritters. I almost missed ordering one bc they look nothing like the apple fritters I'm used to eating. It was just ok in my book. Not something I would get again. The donut stick on the other hand is something I wouldn't miss next time. In fact I'd be getting more than one. It was probably my favorite item of all we selected. The cream stick dough was soft. The cream wasn't too sweet. The only thing I would have changed was to have the maple icing be a bit more maple flavored. The turnover was nice and crispy flakey but the filling was just ok. Maybe a different flavor next time if I would get one. How can you go wrong with a cheese danish? Warm this slightly and you're hitting a home run. This was a nice stop and we learned the difference between what we liked and loved. We know just what to get next time. It was a dark chocolate cake with German chocolate frosting on the top of the cake only. The layers of cake did not have German chocolate frosting in between them. I would definitely not recommend this if you're looking for an authentic German chocolate cake. I placed a pick up order and that process was easy. I placed the order over the phone and they did require payment in full. The pickup process was pretty simple they had a sign directing you where to you. When you walk on the door, make sure you get a number so you can be called up to the counter to get your sweets. We came in on a late Saturday morning around 10am and they still had their donut case filled full to serve everyone. Not overly sweet, nice and soft with a pillowy texture. The donuts are divine. I was anxious to get to the new Gahanna location. I find the glazed donuts like soft pillows of decadence. I swear I close my eyes at first bite. I really like them. I also enjoyed the pumpkin donuts without cream cheese icing. I'm trying to avoid a lot of sugar ha ha. There's often a line, but it goes quickly since they staff the bakery well. First time to this bakery-- read many good things online. The bakery is bright, clean, and although it was pretty busy, eveyone was so efficient waiting on the customers that I did not have to wait long to be called on (customers have to take a number). I will say that I spent more than I had planned, but everything looked delicious. But really, to me, out of the items that I purchased, the only thing I liked was the cake donut and yeast donuts. The yeast donut, especially the donut holes were so light and fluffy . Want I did not care for were the cinnamon roll and apple fritter. I have tasted much better. It was like they forgot to add any sugar to the cinnamon--both tasted so plain with very little sweetness, and definitely could not taste the cinnamon. But I always say, how will you know if you will like something unless you give it a try. Well, I gave it a try, and did not like. I also was not crazy about the soft pretzel --did not have that soft pretzel taste that I was expecting. Resch's Bakery is one of my favorite places to stop by when I come to visit Columbus. When you come in you grab a number, it's always clean, they take customers typically fast, the music is never too loud and everyone is always nice. Typically, I would get a dozen of Glazed Donuts but today I tried their Cinnamon Rolls and I fell in love! They were making them fresh so I did decide to wait the 10 minutes for them to finish baking. Melissa was kind enough to bring them out to me in the car. I also ordered a dozen chocolate donuts, a dozen glazed donuts and some raspberry filled donuts. Their parking lot is fairly big which makes for an easy in and out experience. read more

Great service and delicious treats! Remeber to grab a ticket as soon as you walk in for service. I swear I reviewed Resch's when I first discovered it so not sure what happened there but absolutely recommend. The inside smells so good and tons of fresh packaged options that change through the year. Love this place for cupcakes and donuts. This visit was for cucakes and an impulse pick up of some Blondie bites. I saw some delicious giant pretzels and some new cookies that caught my attention but did pretty good on self control. We ordered a full complement of pastries: Apricot, strawberry, & blueberry danishes, sugar donut, cinnamon roll, custard filled chocolate glazed, apple fritter, apple walnut rugelach, glazed French crawler, and a few of "the stick". Sigh, this pains me because I am an old school bakery fan and will always support mom and pop's when I can. I grew up in the area of the old location and people always raved about their cakes for birthdays. I remember trying one of the slices they let you buy and wasn't impressed but didn't know if it dried out from being cut. Their cinnamon rolls are decent but they force you to buy 6 and don't sell them individually. I don't want or need six around the house to tempt me. With all of the grocery stores going off-site for their cakes now and they're all drier than dry, we thought after 30 years we'd finally give Resch's a shot on the birthday cake front. They won't do a single layer like a grocery store will for two people to nosh on over a long weekend so we were stuck with a double layer. At the cost of $40 basically paying $20 each is a high cost when it was this disappointing. We tried a piece then into the trash for the rest of it which makes me sick having to throw away money like that. If you had blindfolded us, we wouldn't have been able to tell you what flavor it was. It didn't taste like chocolate frosting and they must use all shortening because my tongue was coated for hours even after several hot beverages which should've dissolved it. The cake was flavorless and so dry it crumbled apart with each bite. The decoration on top didn't look like what was asked for, just round blobs. The person this cake was for had been through a lot and I really wanted them to have the old fashioned cake of their youth. Even scraping all of the icing off and mixing in valrhona cocoa powder with it couldn't help it. We waited for the new location to open since everyone also raves about their donuts but were skeptical after the cake experience. We waited in the long line and tried a pumpkin donut and a long john. I took one bite of the long john and spit it out. I don't know what chemical I was tasting but it was bad and I'm not talking an emulsion extract imbalance. The pumpkin donut was fine but I get the same quality from grocery store donuts which is where I'll go if I want one in the future. I'm happy it's a staple for some people from their youth but it's probably best for our waistlines we're not fans. My rating for the donuts is 5 stars--they were great. However, there is no pricing anywhere online OR in store except for on the bagged rolls. I ordered 18 donuts and picked up a pack of Parker House rolls ($9) and my total was $70. I assumed it was an error at the register but the clerk explained that each donut was priced individually unless I bought a dozen glazed ($18/dozen). So 18 donuts (no cream filled, just glazed twists and glazed cinnamon) was $51. If pricing had been available somewhere, at least I would have known before check out. read more

We visited Resch's for the first time today. My grandson has a severe egg allergy, so we asked if there were any items he could safely eat. The staff member informed us that there was one egg-free product, so we decided to purchase that. Unfortunately, after we got home, my grandson began having an allergic reaction. When I called the store to explain what happened, the response was dismissive -- there was no apology or real concern expressed. We completely understand if a bakery does not offer egg-free options, but providing inaccurate information about allergens is extremely dangerous. For individuals with severe allergies, accurate communication is critical. They didn't apologize or express concern, just made excuses that they had many new employees. I had asked to speak to manager about egg free options, she was the one who told me it was egg free and she she's worked there for 10 years. read more

Disappointed today. I asked for a dozen of the original glazed donuts and got these. The donuts at the bottom of the pic were very very dry and chewy. Taste nothing like the 5 others. My children nor I liked them. Very disappointed and feel like I have wasted my money. I come here regularly and this has never happened before. Being a customer for over 22 years. If you are going to get a cake I was told you can only order a graduation cake no special orders. I was also disappointed by that. A customer should be able to choose cakes of choice.
