I stopped by when visiting some family, I hadn't been in several years and the mixed reviews had me a little nervous but everything was just amazing as I remembered! We did a big variety off the food menu... onion rings, fried pickles, fried mushrooms, fries, chili foot long, cheeseburger, corn dog... everyone was thoroughly impressed with their food! We took it over to the park to enjoy and then came back by for milkshakes and we were all fat & happy to say the least! My kids were about to fight over the dreamsicle milkshake as they all wished they had gone for that one, but we also had cherry and chocolate which were great too. The service was just as friendly as the food was good. Ice cream was quick, food takes a minute, but it's so fresh and hot and worth it! I hate to say that I'm glad I don't live as close as I used to or I would eat here way too often. read more

Fun spot that is apparently iconic. Family have always eaten here so I'm not sure how or why this is my first time. It is definitely old school, ordering and picking up at the window and eating in your car/tailgating. The footlongs were good but the onion rings clearly stole the show. read more

I love the old-school atmosphere of Crisp's. Food is in wax paper wrappers, which takes me back to other 50's style places. We've pretty much been around the horn on the menu and everything has been good. Stop by for an old-school experience. (Expect to eat in your car). read more

I did a hotdog sauce crawl recently on a trip back home to Russell to help my dad after surgery. I hit four in Huntington, one in Coal Grove and two on the Ky side of the river. I hear that I have 2-3 I've missed but of the ones we tried Crisp came out in a tie with Corner Cone for #1!!!! The sauces were basically identical and definitely our favorite. I even went back a third time to confirm the two winners side by side. I love old local spots!!! Definitely a wonderful childhood memories stopping with my Gran-Gran and Aunt Edith. We always go to Crisp's when we're in town. They serve what could be the world's best onion rings.

I hadn't eat at this place in a long time and we were in the area and wanted something quick and simple. We had a hotdog, hamburger, fries, onion rings, and dyno-bites. The hotdog was my favorite but saying that I still would say it was edible and nothing special. The cheeseburger we ordered came as a double so we threw a patty away. It had so much mustard on it that was all we tasted. The fries were good. The onion rings were ok. And the dyno-bites were broccoli and cheese bites. They were nasty honestly. I believe for the price and quality I would just eat at McDonalds next door. We really wanted this to be good but came up way short. read more

Well it's an icon. The ice creams, etc are great. But it's expensive. Food has declined to mediocre. Fries were sub-par. Ham sandwich (last time I was able to get one) was cold, on a hot ham n cheese. But the ice cream and hotdogs are their attraction. I don't eat hot dogs so I can't tell ya! We got smalls which was a good choice because they give you so much! They have benches outside for you to sit on while eating but they do not offer any indoor seating. Honestly, this place isn't terrible but it is just a basic dairy bar. Ice cream, fried food, footlongs... The usuals are all here. It's fine and hits the spot if you're really craving some greasy food or a saucy hot dog. Service can be slow so be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes if you're getting food. read more

Called in a $45 order. The one that answered was rude but let it slide. Said it would be 10 to 15 mins. So drove over had my son pay with my debit card. after 30 mins and people coming and going. Had my son check on the order. Only to be told they already gave it to him. I was parked 2nd spot from the pick up window and no one ever called our number. But after my autistic son was called a liar they remade our order. Funny no number called and we still had our receipt. My son told them to check their camera footage. Crisp's Dairy Treat is amazing. My family has been coming here for years, and we have never been disappointed. The food itself is decent, but that's not why most people come. Most people come for the ice cream, and with good reason. There are many different options of shakes, Florida Breezes, flurries, soft serve, and Tangerine Twists, in addition to just normal ice cream. The Tangerine Twist is to die for! Vanilla soft serve is swirled with tangerine sherbet to create the BEST ice cream treat that you will ever eat in your life! Great value, good ice cream, we stop in whenever we are passing through. They can be very busy, and when they are it can be a stressful place. Use to be good but the new location in flatwoods Ky is not as good as the Ashland stop. One employee had very dirty fingernails and while fixing our ice cream repeatedly touched the actually ice cream with his hands. read more
