I ordered a leather sofa and a name brand kitchen table and chairs. The leather sofa was still wrapped in bubble-wrap, but the kitchen table and chairs were covered only in bed sheets and nothing protective.
I am writing a YELP review because of how this situation was handled. I believe Crissy of Crissy's List and her partner Lee are good people, but how they handled this situation was horrible. This is a "consumer beware." I have ordered furniture from back east from Century Furniture and Kindel Furniture so didn't feel any hesitation when I saw some pieces from Crissy's List that I needed. What I wasn't expecting was the shipper, Crissy hired proved hazardous to furniture and Crissy and Lee did the minimum they could and acted like they were the victims.
The shipper cancelled the first shipping date with us stating he had to deliver some commercial items that could damage our furniture and he didn't want to mix furniture with heavy commercial machine pieces . So we had to wait another week. Then shipper lied to Lee, the co-owner because according to an e-mail from Lee, the shipper told him, we were not home so he could not deliver our sofa, table and chairs. What???
I asked Lee about how the base of the table was handled when it left the store. He said the table and the base were taken apart when it left their store. Finding this out we began to see the shipper that Crissy's List's hired was not as careful with the base of our table and that was the beginning of the problem. According to the furniture repair guy we had to hire, who repaired the table base, said the damage looked recent and was caused by heavy items being placed on the base and every time, the delivery truck hit a bump in the road, the items on the table base would hit down on the table base and caused the cracks to get bigger. When the shipper finally got to our house, two weeks after our original delivery date, he told my husband, he could not help put together the table to the base. He knew once he did that the tabletop would tilt because of the cracks in the base was causing the base to split. Once we did put the table to the base, the table top was tilted. During the delivery, the shipper did not allow my husband to get the last chair out of the U-Haul because he knew one the chair had a HUGE gouge on the top of the chair and several chairs had slight gouges. Thank God, the leather sofa was in good condition. I tried to tell Crissy and Lee about our frustration, but they thought we were trying to cheat them and besides Lee kept stating, the kitchen set was only $380. I understand that, but really would we want a table with a broken base even if it was $380 and it is not our fault they hired a careless shipper. The latter comment was our point!!
I am annoyed at this whole thing because I had to find a person to fix the base and the chairs were very expense to repaired. I am annoyed that Crissy and Lee made it seem it was our fault and made a Good Faith gesture of $120.00. We paid an additional $190 to get the table repaired. I am annoyed that the shipper lied to Crissy and Lee about not being able to deliver the furniture when he kept canceling the delivery date, but told them we were never home and my husband was always home. Crissy's List is a great store, but watch out for this shipper. You may get your furniture very flawed and have to hassle with Crissy and Lee to get it resolved. Bad experience!! Never again!! read more
