I've gone to the same Dominican shop for forever and my curls always come back; If it was heat damaged there would still be some type of texture in it but there's not! At this spot my hair was almost straight after washing and when I dyed my hair 2 weeks later so much came out. They get my hair uber straight (even the lil sideburn hairs). For me the price has consistently been the same every visit, 45.00 because I always get a deep conditioner. It does cost more than any other salon I've been to but this salon also produces the best final result. They have always been friendly to me and ask me do I prefer 2 or 3 washes. It is now a week past my last visit to the shop and my hair is still fabulous. My only gripe is that this place is in Harlem and I cant find anywhere closer to my NJ residence or BK job :-(

The first…read morevisit, it was still too dark and the line of demarcation was visible, but it was close enough that I thought with a little feedback we'd get to the result I wanted. Instead, the second visit was worse. I brought reference photos and clearly explained that I wanted the color lighter and warmer. Instead, I left with an even darker, splotchy gloss and the same visible line of demarcation. When I pointed this that the color was not what I requested, I was repeatedly told it "looked good" and would fade instead of fixing it while I was still in the chair. Throughout the appointment I kept hearing about how busy the stylist was and that she had no idea how I'd been squeezed into the schedule. As a paying client who booked in advance, I shouldn't feel like an inconvenience. During my first visit I explained I was recovering from a concussion. Before this appointment, I explained I'd recently been in the ER because of neck issues and couldn't comfortably lean back at the shampoo bowl. I said I didn't mind getting a little wet if it helped. Instead, the back of my dress was completely soaked. The stylist joked that she'd "never gotten anyone this wet before," said she'd dry it, then walked away within seconds and left me sitting there soaked. The stylist also didn't bother drying enough of my hair to properly check the final color before I left. The atmosphere was equally strange. One stylist greeted me with a hug when I walked in despite only having met me once before. It all felt overly familiar and performative rather than client-focused. Why hug me? We aren't friends, and frankly - I don't like you. I don't mind paying premium NYC salon prices. What I expect in return is technical skill, attention to detail, and someone who listens to what I'm asking for. Instead, I felt like the salon projected confidence while missing very basic fundamentals. Listening to the client, executing the service properly, and checking the finished result shouldn't be optional. I'm genuinely not sure why so many NYC salons cultivate this kind of self-important atmosphere. It doesn't feel client-focused, it feels like you're expected to trust the stylist unquestioningly, even when the technical execution falls short. I'm not looking for a refund. I'm sharing this so other clients know what my experience was before they book. I won't be following up with any outreach or response.

This was just to get a feel of my hair maintenance habits. She then recommended a conditioner that would work for me. I liked that they really take their time when washing your hair. She was confident about the final result and was as excited as I was. See pics attached. First time I dyed my hair and the balayage was beautiful. Also the price is so good compared to other places. The hair products she uses were also high quality. It was a very relaxing environment. It just felt like your Dominican republican mom was doing your hair.
