- Awesome class!!! - Very professional instructors! - Top notch training by current & former law enforcement officers and military veterans! I signed up for their 16 Hour Basic Pistol - Illinois Concealed Carry Course with a friend, not knowing what to exactly expect from the class. Upon arrival my first day of class, I could tell right away that our instructors were professional shooters, had been teaching for a long time, and that I was in for an education. Our class was made up of all kinds of people: beginners, experienced shooters, military veterans, and regular people like my buddy and I. Not having much of a shooting background (except for shooting BB guns when I was a kid), I appreciated the first day of class; going over handgun safety, how to select a handgun for purchase, loading / unloading, and handgun cleaning & maintenance. The 2nd day, we learned all about Concealed Carry in Illinois; the laws, the do & don'ts of CCW, how to draw my pistol, how to conceal one, holster selection, police interactions, and what to do if I unfortunately find myself having to use my handgun in self-defense. Not being the greatest shot on the range starting out, the instructors took their time, working one-on-one with me to correct the bad habits I had (jerking the trigger, and shooting with only one eye open). The guys at Critical Decision are great. I just took a class with Jason and loved it. The class was informative, fun, and it was taught by someone that has real world experience. They really know how to keep you interested and learning for the whole time you are there. The techniques that they teach you will not only help you in bad situations but will help to make you an all around better shooter. They also give the impression that they care that you are learning and getting the information you need. They don't have the attitude of just taking your money and that is it. Jason offers you to call or email with questions even after the class is over. I was given the class as a gift and recommended by my sister-in-law. This is a great class. There is a lot of information they need to provide in the 16-hours so come prepared. Jason made the class interactive which made the first 8 hours not seem as long. The instructors make you feel comfortable for anyone that has not been around guns. I have been around guns my entire life and have gone shooting, but of course learned things I didn't know. When we got to the range they help you feel comfortable while shooting. I am one that gets more nervous when being watched. I passed on my first attempt but Nick wanted to see me shoot again. On my second attempt Nick was watching again, but then had to help another student so Craig came over to watch. He asked me a couple of questions (Have I've gone shooting? Yes! How do I normally do? Very well!). Craig suggested to just let me shoot while watching from afar and I did much better!! I would highly recommend Critical Decision!!!! read more

I was referred to Critical Decision by a coworker. To be honest I'm not a diehard NRA guy, I shoot occasionally and was somewhat nervous attending the class. After the first 5 minutes and speaking with Jason, that nervousness was gone. The class consisted people from all walks of life. There was a good mixture of men and women in the class. There we're a handful of new shooters as well as people who've been shooting for decades. The class is long, but Jason's delivery and insight does make it informative and somewhat entertaining. The 2nd day is more law based, which is explained in a way that you don't have to be a lawyer to understand. The range we shot at was clean, professional and the new shooters did exceptionally well. If you're new to shooting, you will shoot last at the qualification stage. This allows more of a one on one shooting experience with the instructor, which I believe is hugely important. I would highly recommend Critical Decision to any level of shooter. I plan to have my wife take this course next month. For me personally I'll be signing up for more advanced shooting classes in the spring. read more

Took a concealed carry course this weekend with my daughter with an organization called "critical decision", and Jason Bragg, Chief Firearm Instructor was amazing. The class was extremely informative, kept all of his students highly engaged and definitely knows his business at a very high-level. The course price is beyond reasonable but the best part is what I walked away with today, confidence, great learning and skill sets I will be able to apply for the rest of my life. I highly recommend critical decision to any individual desiring to complete a concealed carry course. He is one of the best instructors, and I am speaking for the entire group collectively, that I have ever encountered. You won't be disappointed and he truly is the best of the best.
