First time on Theo but not the last. So fun! Tickets are cheap and times are conducive to a day trip to Tampa. Hopped over and had lunch at the Columbia and headed back. Can't wait to do this again

Me having fun on the Cross Town Ferry!

Wowie! On Friday I took the Cross Bay Ferry to Tampa from St Pete. One hour ferry ride and everything about it was perfect. They sell snacks and the best bloody Mary's. They also sell beer water soft drinks etc. You can sit on top deck or below inside or out. Once you reach Tampa there's a trolley stop to Ybor or Riverwalk. We chose Ybor and had lunch at Columbia rest. After lunch we hopped back on the ferry to St Pete. People had Their bikes on board too. Several options like one way round trip and different drop off and pick up times. We paid $16 round trip and booked again for this Saturday cause we had so much fun. They are gone for the summer but return in October. PS there was a party of 6 Milwaukee Brewer fans from Tampa who were going to the Trop in St Pete. They lost. Sorry guys!

I used to use the ferry a lot and found it enjoyable. On our way back from Tampa today, they proceeded to let a bunch of douche bros and influencers overcrowd the back of the boat. Not a single one of them was wearing a mask. Their liberal policy lets them take it off whenever drinking which was common with this group. They came inside and ordered more drinks without masks. No one is enforcing it and they are saying they can't do anything. Well I can't do anything but not use your boat line and make sure everyone I know knows about it. I won't even consider coming back until the pandemic is under control.

This is such a cool way to get between dt st Pete and dt Tampa! There is a bar on the boat, the ride is smooth, and it costs $10 one way. So much more convenient than driving over, sitting in traffic and paying for parking.

Dalton provided expert commentary about the area, even pointing out a few celebrity homes and yachts along the way. It was a gorgeous ride over to Shell Key, and we even saw a few dolphins along the way. Once on the island, we had about 45-50 minutes to explore the beaches and do a little snorkeling and shell-hunting. The island is aptly named, with rows and piles of shells along its white, sandy beaches. The water was warm and perfect for swimming. Soon enough we were back on board and heading back to the harbor. And that's when the magic happened: dolphins! Following along in our wake, and no doubt attracted to the enthusiastic squeals of one of our dolphin-loving fellow passengers, the dolphins put on quite a show. Even Dalton, who I assume sees a LOT of dolphins, was impressed by how long they followed in our wake and performed jumps and flips for us. It was truly one of the most remarkable experiences of my life! Thank you Dalton and Island Ferry for an amazing and memorable tour and one of the true highlights of our vacation!

Our Driver was Gilvin and he was tremendous, hospitable, and amazingly informative. An entire loop is about 20 minutes. In this day and age, the drivers or tour guides can't live off of thank you's and pleasantries. We considered the Looper more of a guided tour than just a simple transportation from A to point B. We learned a lot of cool things about the buildings that we passed and the history of St. Petersburg. Very entertaining and strongly recommended for anyone visiting St. Petersburg on their first day. Fortunately, my friend had heard of the free Downtown Looper, and a stop for the Looper was right across the street from our restaurant. The Looper has about 20 stops all around St. Pete, including USF St. Pete, Bayfront Health, and All Children's Hospital. The Looper's cycle runs about every 20 minutes or so per stop. I think we waited about 10 minutes. TIP: Since our stop shared the space with the regular bus service, the yellow trolley almost zoomed by us since we didn't know to flag it down. Luckily, it did stop once it saw we needed it. So - when you see the bright yellow trolley - put your hand up. The trolley was clean and well kept, and the trolley driver was very friendly and personable. Make sure you have a couple of dollars to tip, since you are riding for free. Easy and effortless, this a great service that PTSA provides.

My brother and I were lucky enough to score some gold card on the inaugural day of the new route ( https://patch.com/florida/pinellasbeaches/gold-cards-be-given-1st-500-sunrunner-passengers-friday ). We rode the bus and took advantage of some of the perks of the card... Mostly beer related. Great how the busses have storage for bikes inside the bus. All the stop on St. Pete Beach have been modernized with easy on, easy off, platforms. The end of the line is the public beach on St. Pete Beach, which is also right across the street from a Publix. If you want to get further south, look into Freebee, the free beach ride. Use the app to connect for a ride. It really is free, but tips are appreciated. https://ridefreebee.com/ Beach to 'Burg is about a 45 minute ride. Not bad, and you don't have to hunt for a parking spot, or worry about getting a ticket. Bottom line: Since I was ridding free, I have no idea how much it will cost. Do you?
